Abstract:The title compound is a polymeric complex bridged by a phthalate dianion, [[Cd(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(7)H(6)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)].0.5H(2)O](n). The asymmetric unit contains two Cd complex units, and both Cd(II) atoms have the same distorted octahedral coordination geometry. Each phthalate dianion bridges two Cd atoms through the two terminal carboxy groups, one in a monodentate fashion and the other in a chelating mode, thus forming zigzag polymeric chains; pi-pi stacking occurs between neighboring chains. The bond angle involving the chelating carboxy group is large, but the corresponding bond distance is normal. This implies the existence of an electrostatic interaction between the Cd(II) atoms and the carboxy groups.

Abstract:A new borophosphate compound, (NH4)(0.5) (H3O)(0.5)Mg(H2O)(2)BP2O8, was prepared by hydrothermal synthesis and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The title compound belongs to hexagonal system,. space group P6(5)22, a = 0. 94507 (19) nm, c = 1. 5803 (5) nm, gamma = 120degrees, V = 1. 2224 (5) nm(3), M-r = 279.06, Z = 6, D-c = 2.258 g/cm(3), F (000) = 834, R-1 = 0.0360, wR(2) = 0.1070, mu = 0.663 mm(-1). The crystal structure of the compound contains infinite one-dimensional borophosphate ribbons (1)(infinity) {[BP2O8](3-)} built of corner sharing BO4 and PO4 tetrahedra arranged around 6(5) screw axes. The borophosphate helices are interconected. by MgO4(H2O)(2) coordination octahedra to form a three-dimensional framework. The elemental analysis, IR, DTA/TGA. and the calculation of the electric charge balance show the presence of ammonium ions and protons. Both ammonium ions and hydroniums are located within the free loop of helical ribbons, and close to the inner wall of the helical channels (1)(infinity)[BP2O8](3-)}, respectively, balancing charge and stabilizing helical ribbons.

Abstract:In the title compound, [Cd(C7H5O3)2(C12H8N2)2]·2H2O, the CdII ion is located on a twofold axis and assumes a distorted octahedral CdN4O2 coordination geometry, formed by two phenanthroline (phen) ligands and two 4-hydroxybenzoate (HBA) anions. π–π stacking is observed between the parallel phen ligands of adjacent CdII complexes. One water O atom is located on a twofold axis. The other water molecule is disordered over two sites.

Abstract:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Pb2(C4H5NO4)2(C6H6N4S2)2]·4H2O, the dinuclear PbII complex molecule is centrosymmetric. The Pb atom is chelated by a tridentate iminodiacetate anion (IDA) and a diaminobithiazole (DABT) ligand, while a carboxylate O atom from an adjacent IDA anion further bridges the Pb atom with a longer Pb—O bond [2.892 (3) Å]. The lone-pair electrons of the Pb atom occupy an axial site in the Ψ-pentagonal-bipyramidal coordination polyhedron. The IDA anion displays a facial configuration: its chelating five-membered rings assume an envelope configuration. Within the DABT ligand, the two thiazole rings are twisted relative to each other, making a dihedral angle of 9.51 (17)°. Extensive N—H...O, O—H...O and weak C—H...O hydrogen bonding helps to stabilize the crystal structure.

Abstract:A chromium borophosphate-phosphate (Na(8)[Cr(4)B(12)P(8)O(44)(OH)(4)][P(2)O(7)]nH(2)O, 1), which has an unusual 3D framework structure, was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. The framework consists of spherical cages composed of CrO(6), PO(4), BO(4), and BO(3) polyhedra. The cages are located at the vertices and the body center of the cubic cell and are interconnected through 12-membered-ring windows along the {111} direction. The actual framework structure is very complex, but the description can be simplified by using the 5-connected fundamental building cluster [CrP(5)B(3)O(24)](11-). In addition, 1 represents the first borate-rich borophosphate that contains a 3D borophosphate partial framework (3(over)infinity[B(3)P(2)O(11)(OH)]) in which the fundamental building unit is an oB dreier single ring (Delta4 square:square<Delta2 square> square). The cavities of the framework are filled with disengaged water molecules and Na(+) counterions. The former can be reversibly desorbed and reabsorbed and the latter can be exchanged by Li(+) ions, which results in significant shrinkages of the cell volume.

Abstract:The structure of a new synthetic compound, diammonium tetrahydroxydecaborate monohydrate, has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in triclinic space group P\overline 1 and all atoms occupy general sites. The title compound is composed of [B10O15(OH)4]4− ions as the fundamental building blocks, and these are linked end-to-end by sharing two common O atoms, thus producing infinite chains of composition [B10O14(OH)4] n 2n–. These chains are linked by hydrogen bonds, thus forming borate sheets. Water molecules and ammonium ions between these sheets connect adjacent sheets via hydrogen bonds.

Abstract:A new three-dimensional (3-D) manganese(II) borophosphate, [NH4](4)[Mn9B2(OH)(2)(HPO4)(4)(PO4)(6)] (denoted MnBPO-CJ26), has been synthesized by a hydrothermal method. The structure has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c (No. 15) with a = 32.603(7) angstrom, b = 10.617(2) angstrom, c = 10.718(2) angstrom, and beta = 108.26(3)degrees. Its structure features anionic manganese-phosphate layers [Mn-9(OH)(2)(HPO4)(4)(PO4)(6)](10-), which are made up from MnO5, MnO6, PO4, and HPO4 polyhedral units. These anionic layers, parallel to the bc plane, are further connected by BO4 tetrahedra through vertex oxygen atoms forming a novel open framework with 2-D eight-membered ring (8-MR) channels along the [010] and [001] directions. Charge neutrality is achieved by protonated NH3 molecules. The structure has unique B/P and Mn/P ratios (B/P = 1/5, Mn/P = 9/10). Magnetic measurements indicate that Curie-Weiss behavior above 100 K with C = 4.404(3) cm(3) mol(-1) K and theta = -51.2(5) K. The value of C is consistent with an S = (5)/(2) ion with g similar to 2.0 (4.38 cm(3) mol(-1) K). However, the magnetic data reveal a spontaneous magnetization at 8.0 K, indicating a canting of Mn2+ moments in the antiferromagnetic ground state.

Abstract:A new noncentrosymmetric borophosphate, Na3Cd3B(PO4)(4), has been successfully synthesized by conventional solid state reaction for the first time. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pmc2(1) with unit cell parameters of a = 13.6854(3) angstrom, b = 5.3346(11) angstrom, c = 18.2169(4) angstrom, and Z = 4. Na3Cd3B(PO4)(4) features zero-dimensional [B(PO4)(4)](9-) anion units with Cd2+ and Na+/Cd2+ cations located around them, in which the BO4 tetrahedron is surrounded by four PO4 tetrahedra by sharing the vertexes of O atoms. Second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements show that Na3Cd3B(PO4)(4) exhibits a SHG response 1.1 times larger than that of KH2PO4 (KDP) and is phase matchable.

It shows a new type of perovskite structure, featuring staircase-like inorganic network. Abstract:Four novel inorganic-organic hybrid cadmium borates, namely [EAH]2{(py)2Cd@[B14O20-(OH)6]} (1, py = pyridine, EA = ethylamine), [PAH]2{(py)2Cd@[B14O20(OH)6]} (2, PA = propylamine), [pyH]2{(py)2Cd@[B14O20(OH)6]} (3) and {(AImH)2Cd@[B14O20(OH)6]} (4, AIm = 1-(3-aminopropyl)imidazole) have been solvothermally synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction, respectively. They represent the first hybrid cadmium borates that exhibit 3D supramolecular open-frameworks with different topologies. All the networks are formed by the unprecedented Cd-centred cluster [Cd@B14O20(OH)6](2-), and further link each other via a multipoint H-bond system. UV-Vis-NIR spectral investigation reveals that these borates are wide-band-gap semiconductors. Moreover, they display strong fluorescence emission around 430 nm, making them excellent candidates for optoelectronic applications as blue materials.

Abstract:A new inorganic-organic hybrid polyoxoboroniobate {H4K2[Cu(cis-en)2(H2O)]9[Cu(cis-en)2]6[Cd2(cis-en)2(trans-en)][LiB2Nb29O86]2·79H2O} (1, en = ethylenediamine), is built from pagoda-shaped {LiB2Nb29O86} clusters, linear {Cd2(cis-en)2(trans-en)} bridging units, and copper-amine complexes. The {LiB2Nb29O86} cluster represents the first example of combining oxoboron clusters with polyoxoniobate clusters (PONbs). It consists of an unusual HPONb fragment {LiNb18O54}, a fused-ring structural boroniobate cluster {B2Nb5O13}, and a classical Lindqvist {Nb6O19} fragment. The {Cd2(cis-en)2(trans-en)} and [Cu(cis-en)2]2+ complexes link the pagoda-shaped {LiB2Nb29O86} clusters into 1D infinite ladder chains. This is the first instance of simultaneous coordination of the cis-en and trans-en ligands with a single metal cation in the inorganic-organic hybrid PONb family. Furthermore, 1 exhibits good proton conductivity.

Abstract:Two new phosphates, KCd2P3O10 and K8Cd21Pb7(P2O7)16, have been obtained using high-temperature molten method for the first time. They show three-dimensional (3D) framework structures composed of [Cd2P3O18]∞ layers for KCd2P3O10 and [Cd36P48O237]∞ corrugated layers for K8Cd21Pb7(P2O7)16. To the best of our knowledge, K8Cd21Pb7(P2O7)16 is the first Cd-based phosphate that is constructed by tremendous [Cd18P24O121]∞ anionic duplicate units, which contain intriguing multimember-rings (6-MR, 8-MR, 16-MR). In addition, K8Cd21Pb7(P2O7)16 contains coexistent Cd2O10 single rings and Cd3O12 twin rings, which have not been found in other Cd-based phosphates. The comparison of structures was carried out among all the relevant anhydrous Cd-based phosphates. Combining with theoretical analysis, the relationship between electronic structures and optical properties is further elaborated.

Abstract:A new microporous borogermanate NH4[BGe3O8] has been synthesized by a molten boric acid flux method with "reagent" quantities of water in which GeO2, ethylenediamine, H2O, and H3BO3 (5:8:14:25) were heated together at 513 K for 4 days. The structure consists of {Ge6O18}n chains, further linked together via BO4 tetrahedra, forming a three-dimensional open framework with intersecting channel systems including one-dimensional 10-membered-ring (MR) channels. Interestingly, the infinite chains {Ge6O18}n as building blocks, built of alternating 4- and 6-MRs made of vertex-sharing GeO4 tetrahedra, construct the borogermanate framework. It is noteworthy that the high viscosity of the reactive medium and the quantity of water play important roles in the formation of the compound.
