Abstract:Context: Observations of polarized emission are a significant source of information on the magnetic field that pervades the Interstellar Medium of the Galaxy. Despite the acknowledged importance of the magnetic field in interstellar processes, our knowledge of field configurations on all scales is seriously limited. Aims: This paper describes an extensive survey of polarized Galactic emission at 1.4 GHz that provides data with arcminute resolution and complete coverage of all structures from the broadest angular scales to the resolution limit, giving information on the magneto-ionic medium over a wide range of interstellar environments. Methods: Data from the DRAO Synthesis Telescope, the Effelsberg 100-m Telescope, and the DRAO 26-m Telescope have been combined. Angular resolution is ~1' and the survey extends from l = 66 deg to l = 175 deg over a range -3 deg < b < 5 deg along the northern Galactic plane, with a high-latitude extension from l = 101 deg to l = 116 deg up to b = 17.5 deg. This is the first extensive polarization survey to present aperture-synthesis data combined with data from single antennas, and the techniques developed to achieve this combination are described. Results: The appearance of the extended polarized emission at 1.4 GHz is dominated by Faraday rotation along the propagation path, and the diffuse polarized sky bears little resemblance to the total-intensity sky. There is extensive depolarization, arising from vector averaging on long lines of sight, from HII regions, and from diffuse ionized gas seen in H-alpha images. Preliminary interpretation is presented of selected polarization features on scales from parsecs (the planetary nebula Sh 2-216) to hundreds of parsecs (a supperbubble GSH 166-01-17) to kiloparsecs (polarized emission in the direction of Cygnus X).

Abstract:The low dust temperatures (<14 K) of Planck Galactic cold clumps (PGCCs) make them ideal targets to probe the initial conditions and very early phase of star formation. “TOP-SCOPE” is a joint survey program targeting ∼2000 PGCCs in J = 1–0 transitions of CO isotopologues and ∼1000 PGCCs in 850 μm continuum emission. The objective of the “TOP-SCOPE” survey and the joint surveys (SMT 10 m, KVN 21 m, and NRO 45 m) is to statistically study the initial conditions occurring during star formation and the evolution of molecular clouds, across a wide range of environments. The observations, data analysis, and example science cases for these surveys are introduced with an exemplar source, PGCC G26.53+0.17 (G26), which is a filamentary infrared dark cloud (IRDC). The total mass, length, and mean line mass (M/L) of the G26 filament are ∼6200 M☉, ∼12 pc, and ∼500 M☉ pc−1, respectively. Ten massive clumps, including eight starless ones, are found along the filament. The most massive clump as a whole may still be in global collapse, while its denser part seems to be undergoing expansion owing to outflow feedback. The fragmentation in the G26 filament from cloud scale to clump scale is in agreement with gravitational fragmentation of an isothermal, nonmagnetized, and turbulent supported cylinder. A bimodal behavior in dust emissivity spectral index (β) distribution is found in G26, suggesting grain growth along the filament. The G26 filament may be formed owing to large-scale compression flows evidenced by the temperature and velocity gradients across its natal cloud.

Abstract:We present a survey of ~800 square degrees of the galactic plane observed with the QUaD telescope. The primary product of the survey are maps of Stokes I, Q and U parameters at 100 and 150 GHz, with spatial resolution 5 and 3.5 arcminutes respectively. Two regions are covered, spanning approximately 245-295 and 315-5 degrees in galactic longitude l, and -4<b<+4 degrees in galactic latitude b. At 0.02 degree square pixel size, the median sensitivity is 74 and 107 kJy/sr at 100 GHz and 150 GHz respectively in I, and 98 and 120 kJy/sr for Q and U. In total intensity, we find an average spectral index of 2.35+/-0.01 (stat) +/- 0.02 (sys) for |b|<1 degree, indicative of emission components other than thermal dust. A comparison to published dust, synchrotron and free-free models implies an excess of emission in the 100 GHz QUaD band, while better agreement is found at 150 GHz. A smaller excess is observed when comparing QUaD 100 GHz data to WMAP 5-year W band; in this case the excess is likely due to the wider bandwidth of QUaD. Combining the QUaD and WMAP data, a two-component spectral fit to the inner galactic plane (|b|<1 degree) yields mean spectral indices of -0.32 +/- 0.03 and 2.84 +/- 0.03; the former is interpreted as a combination of the spectral indices of synchrotron, free-free and dust, while the second is attributed largely to the thermal dust continuum. In the same galactic latitude range, the polarization data show a high degree of alignment perpendicular to the expected galactic magnetic field direction, and exhibit mean polarization fraction 1.38+/-0.08 (stat) +/-0.1 (sys) % at 100 GHz and 1.70 +/- 0.06 (stat) +/- 0.1 (sys) % at 150GHz. We find agreement in polarization fraction between QUaD 100 GHz and WMAP W band, the latter giving 1.1 +/- 0.4 %.

Submillimeter Polarization of Galactic Clouds: A Comparison of 350 micron and 850 micron Data

Abstract:The Hertz and SCUBA polarimeters, working at 350 micron and 850 micron respectively, have measured the polarized emission in scores of Galactic clouds. Of the clouds in each dataset, 17 were mapped by both instruments with good polarization signal-to-noise ratios. We present maps of each of these 17 clouds comparing the dual-wavelength polarization amplitudes and position angles at the same spatial locations. In total number of clouds compared, this is a four-fold increase over previous work. Across the entire data-set real position angle differences are seen between wavelengths. While the distribution of \phi(850)-\phi(350) is centered near zero (near-equal angles), 64% of data points with high polarization signal-to-noise (P >= 3\sigma_p) have |\phi(850)-\phi(350)| > 10 degrees. Of those data with small changes in position angle (<= 10 degrees) the median ratio of the polarization amplitudes is P(850)/P(350) = 1.7 +/- 0.6. This value is consistent with previous work performed on smaller samples and models which require mixtures of different grain properties and polarization efficiencies. Along with the polarization data we have also compiled the intensity data at both wavelengths; we find a trend of decreasing polarization with increasing 850-to-350 micron intensity ratio. All the polarization and intensity data presented here (1699 points in total) are available in electronic format.

Abstract:Following the detection of polarized diffuse Galactic emission in 1962 a number of surveys were undertaken at low frequencies in the following years resulting in important insights on the local magnetic field, polarization of the giant radio loops and other Galactic structures, as well as on the properties of the diffuse magnetized interstellar medium. This field of research experienced a revival in the eighties and nineties by a number of high resolution observations at low and high frequencies, which showed a large variety of polarization structures having no corresponding signature in the total intensity images. 'Canals' and 'Faraday screens' were reported, which clearly indicate that Faraday rotation in the magneto-ionic medium may largely vary on small scales. These findings called for a systematic approach and a number of new unbiased polarization surveys were started. Also new attempts for absolute calibration are under way, which is a critical issue when interpreting polarization structures. This paper reviews polarization survey projects and also summarizes recent results and interpretations of this rather active field of research.

Abstract:We present deep polarimetric observations at 154 MHz with the Murchison Widefield Array (MWA), covering 625 deg^2 centered on RA=0 h, Dec=-27 deg. The sensitivity available in our deep observations allows an in-band, frequency-dependent analysis of polarized structure for the first time at long wavelengths. Our analysis suggests that the polarized structures are dominated by intrinsic emission but may also have a foreground Faraday screen component. At these wavelengths, the compactness of the MWA baseline distribution provides excellent snapshot sensitivity to large-scale structure. The observations are sensitive to diffuse polarized emission at 54' resolution with a sensitivity of 5.9 mJy beam^-1 and compact polarized sources at 2.4' resolution with a sensitivity of 2.3 mJy beam^-1 for a subset (400 deg^2) of this field. The sensitivity allows the effect of ionospheric Faraday rotation to be spatially and temporally measured directly from the diffuse polarized background. Our observations reveal large-scale structures ( 1 deg - 8 deg in extent) in linear polarization clearly detectable in 2 minute snapshots, which would remain undetectable by interferometers with minimum baseline lengths >110 m at 154 MHz. The brightness temperature of these structures is on average 4 K in polarized intensity, peaking at 11 K. Rotation measure synthesis reveals that the structures have Faraday depths ranging from -2 rad m^-2 to 10 rad m^-2 with a large fraction peaking at +1 rad m^-2. We estimate a distance of 51+/-20 pc to the polarized emission based on measurements of the in-field pulsar J2330-2005. We detect four extragalactic linearly polarized point sources within the field in our compact source survey. Based on the known polarized source population at 1.4 GHz and non-detections at 154 MHz, we estimate an upper limit on the depolarization ratio of 0.08 from 1.4 GHz to 154 MHz.

Abstract:Abstract We present a radio polarization study of the supernova remnant CTB 80 based on images at 1420 MHz from the Canadian Galactic Plane Survey, at 2695 MHz from the Effelsberg survey of the Galactic plane and at 4800 MHz from the Sino-German λ6 cm polarization survey of the Galactic plane. We obtained a rotation measure (RM) map using polarization angles at 2695 MHz and 4800 MHz as the polarization percentages are similar at these two frequencies. RM exhibits a transition from positive values to negative values along one of the shells hosting the pulsar PSR B1951+32 and its pulsar wind nebula. The reason for the change in sign remains unclear. We identified a partial shell structure, which is bright in polarized intensity but weak in total intensity. This structure could be part of CTB 80 or part of a new supernova remnant unrelated to CTB 80.

Abstract:We present the results of simultaneous 450 mu m and 850 mu m polarization observations toward the massive star-forming region NGC 2071IR, a target of the BISTRO (B-fields in STar-forming Region Observations) Survey, using the POL-2 polarimeter and SCUBA-2 camera mounted on the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope. We find a pinched magnetic field morphology in the central dense core region, which could be due to a rotating toroidal disklike structure and a bipolar outflow originating from the central young stellar object IRS 3. Using the modified Davis-Chandrasekhar-Fermi method, we obtain a plane-of-sky magnetic field strength of 563 +/- 421 mu G in the central similar to 0.12 pc region from 850 mu m polarization data. The corresponding magnetic energy density of 2.04 x 10(-8) erg cm(-3) is comparable to the turbulent and gravitational energy densities in the region. We find that the magnetic field direction is very well aligned with the whole of the IRS 3 bipolar outflow structure. We find that the median value of polarization fractions is 3.0% at 450 mu m in the central 3 ' region, which is larger than the median value of 1.2% at 850 mu m. The trend could be due to the better alignment of warmer dust in the strong radiation environment. We also find that polarization fractions decrease with intensity at both wavelengths, with slopes, determined by fitting a Rician noise model of 0.59 +/- 0.03 at 450 mu m and 0.36 +/- 0.04 at 850 mu m, respectively. We think that the shallow slope at 850 mu m is due to grain alignment at the center being assisted by strong radiation from the central young stellar objects.

Abstract:We describe the HI component of the Southern Galactic Plane Survey (SGPS). The SGPS is a large-scale project to image at arcminute resolution the HI spectral line and 21 cm continuum emission in parts of the plane of the Milky Way. The survey covers Galactic longitudes 253 deg < l < 358 deg and latitudes |b| <1.5 deg (SGPS I), plus a first quadrant extension covering 5 deg < l < 20 deg and |b| <1.5 deg (SGPS II). The survey combines data from the Australia Telescope Compact Array and the Parkes Radio Telescope for sensitivity to angular scales ranging from 2 arcminutes to several degrees. The combined data cover 325 sq-deg and have an rms sensitivity of 1.6 K. Here we describe the HI observations and data reduction in detail, and present examples from the final data products. The complete dataset is publicly available through the Australia Telescope National Facility's HI Surveys archive. This dataset provides an unprecedented view of the neutral component of interstellar hydrogen in the inner Milky Way.

Abstract:The Milky Way Imaging Scroll Painting (MWISP) project is an unbiased Galactic plane CO survey for mapping regions of l=-10deg to +250deg and |b|<5.2deg with the 13.7 m telescope of the Purple Mountain Observatory. The legacy survey aims to observe the 12CO, 13CO, and C18O (J=1-0) lines simultaneously with full sampling using the nine-beam Superconducting SpectroScopic Array Receiver (SSAR) system with an instantaneous bandwidth of 1 GHz. In this paper, the completed 250 deg^2 data from l=+25.8deg to +49.7deg are presented with a grid spacing of 30" and a typical rms noise level of ~0.5 K for 12CO at the channel width of 0.16 km/s and ~0.3 K for 13CO and C18O at 0.17 km/s. The high quality data with moderate resolution (50"), uniform sensitivity, and high spatial dynamic range, allow us to investigate the details of molecular clouds (MCs) traced by the three CO isotope lines. Three interesting examples are briefly investigated, including distant Galactic spiral arms traced by CO emission with VLSR<0 km/s, the bubble-like dense gas structure near the HII region W40, and the MCs distribution perpendicular to the Galactic plane.

Abstract:We present a sample of 305 QSO candidates having ∣b∣ < 30°, the majority with GALEX magnitudes near-UV < 18.75. To generate this sample, we apply UV–IR color selection criteria to photometric data from the Ultraviolet Galactic Plane Survey as part of GALEX-CAUSE, the Million Quasars Catalog, Gaia DR2, and Pan-STARRS DR1. 165 of these 305 candidate UV-bright active galactic nuclei (AGN; 54%) have published spectroscopic redshifts from 45 different surveys, confirming them as AGN. We further obtained low-dispersion, optical, long-slit spectra with the Apache Point Observatory 3.5 m, MDM 2.4 m, and MDM 1.3 m telescopes for 84 of the candidates, and confirm 86% (N = 72) as AGN, generally with z < 0.6. Of these 72 confirmed AGN, 25 are newly discovered low-latitude QSOs without any previous spectroscopy. These sources fill a gap in the Galactic latitude coverage of the available samples of known UV-bright QSO background probes. Along with a description of the confirmed QSO properties, we provide the fully reduced, flux- and wavelength-calibrated spectra of 72 low-latitude QSOs through the Mikulski Archive for Space Telescopes. Future Hubble Space Telescope/Cosmic Origins Spectrograph spectroscopy of these low-Galactic-latitude QSOs has the potential to transform our view of the Milky Way and Local Group circumgalactic medium.

Abstract:NGC 1068 is the most observed radio-quiet active galactic nucleus (AGN) in polarimetry, yet its high-energy polarization has never been probed before due to a lack of dedicated polarimeters. Using the first X-ray polarimeter sensitive enough to measure the polarization of AGNs, we want to probe the orientation and geometric arrangement of (sub)parsec-scale matter around the X-ray source. We used the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE) satellite to measure, for the first time, the 2-8 keV polarization of NGC 1068. We pointed IXPE at the target for a net exposure time of 1.15 Ms, in addition to using two Chandra snapshots of sim 10 ks each in order to account for the potential impact of several ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs) within IXPE's field of view. We measured a 2 -- 8 keV polarization degree of 12.4 pm 3.6 and an electric vector polarization angle of 101$^ pm 8$^ at a 68 confidence level. If we exclude the spectral region containing bright Fe K lines and other soft X-ray lines where depolarization occurs, the polarization fraction rises to 21.3 pm 6.7 in the 3.5 -- 6.0 keV band, with a similar polarization angle. The observed polarization angle is found to be perpendicular to the parsec-scale radio jet. Using a combined Chandra and IXPE analysis plus multiwavelength constraints, we estimated that the circumnuclear “torus” may sustain a half-opening angle of 50 -- 55$^ (from the vertical axis of the system). Thanks to IXPE, we have measured the X-ray polarization of NGC 1068 and found comparable results, both in terms of the polarization angle orientation with respect to the radio jet and the torus half-opening angle, to the X-ray polarimetric measurement achieved for the other archetypal Compton-thick AGN: the Circinus galaxy. Probing the geometric arrangement of parsec-scale matter in extragalactic objects is now feasible thanks to X-ray polarimetry.

Abstract:ABSTRACT The quasar main sequence appears to be an incredibly powerful tool to organize the diversity in large samples of type-1 quasars but the most important physical parameters governing it are still unclear. Here, we investigate the origin of the broadening and of a defining feature of Population B sources: a strong redward asymmetry of the Balmer emission lines. We focus on a prototypical source, Fairall 9. Spectropolarimetric data of the Fairall 9 broad H β and H α profiles allowed for a view of the geometric and dynamical complexity of the line emitting regions. Measurements (1) provided evidence of rotational motion; (2) were helpful to test the presence of polar and equatorial scatterers, and their association with non-virial motions. However, we suggest that the polarization properties appear to be more consistent with a warped disc geometry induced by Lense–Thirring precession.

Abstract:ABSTRACT We have investigated the physical properties of Planck Galactic Cold Clumps (PGCCs) located in the Galactic Plane, using the JCMT Plane Survey (JPS) and the SCUBA-2 Continuum Observations of Pre-protostellar Evolution (SCOPE) survey. By utilizing a suite of molecular-line surveys, velocities, and distances were assigned to the compact sources within the PGCCs, placing them in a Galactic context. The properties of these compact sources show no large-scale variations with Galactic environment. Investigating the star-forming content of the sample, we find that the luminosity-to-mass ratio (L/M) is an order of magnitude lower than in other Galactic studies, indicating that these objects are hosting lower levels of star formation. Finally, by comparing ATLASGAL sources that are associated or are not associated with PGCCs, we find that those associated with PGCCs are typically colder, denser, and have a lower L/M ratio, hinting that PGCCs are a distinct population of Galactic Plane sources.

Abstract:PASIPHAE (the Polar-Areas Stellar Imaging in Polarization High-Accuracy Experiment) is an optopolarimetric survey aiming to measure the linear polarization from millions of stars, and use these to create a three-dimensional tomographic map of the magnetic field threading dust clouds within the Milky Way. This map will provide invaluable information for future CMB B-mode experiments searching for inflationary gravitational waves, providing unique information regarding line-of-sight integration effects. Optical polarization observations of a large number of stars at known distances, tracing the same dust that emits polarized microwaves, can map the magnetic field between them. The Gaia mission is measuring distances to a billion stars, providing an opportunity to produce a tomographic map of Galactic magnetic field directions, using optical polarization of starlight. Such a map will not only boost CMB polarization foreground removal, but it will also have a profound impact in a wide range of astrophysical research, including interstellar medium physics, high-energy astrophysics, and evolution of the Galaxy. Taking advantage of the novel technology implemented in our high-accuracy Wide-Area Linear Optical Polarimeters (WALOPs) currently under construction at IUCAA, India, we will engage in a large-scale optopolarimetric program that can meet this challenge: a survey of both northern and southern Galactic polar regions targeted by CMB experiments, covering over 10,000 square degrees, which will measure linear optical polarization of over 360 stars per square degree (over 3.5 million stars, a 1000-fold increase over the state of the art). The survey will be conducted concurrently from the South African Astronomical Observatory in Sutherland, South Africa in the southern hemisphere, and the Skinakas Observatory in Crete, Greece, in the north.

Abstract:We measure the polarization fraction of a sample of $6282$ Galactic cold clumps at $353 \, \mathrm{GHz} $, consisting of $Planck$ Galactic cold clump (PGCC) catalogue category 1 objects (flux densities measured with signal-to-noise ratio $(\mathrm{S/N}) > 4$). We find the mean-squared polarization fraction at $353 \, \mathrm{GHz} $ to be $ \langle \Pi ^ 2 \rangle = [ 4.79 \pm 0.44 ] \times 10 ^ {-4} $ equating to an $ 11 \, \sigma $ detection of polarization. We test if the polarization fraction depends on the clumps' physical properties, including flux density, luminosity, Galactic latitude and physical distance. We see a trend towards increasing polarization fraction with increasing Galactic latitude, but find no evidence that polarization depends on the other tested properties. The Simons Observatory, with an angular resolution of order $1 \, \mathrm{arcmin } $ and noise levels between $22$ and $54$ $ \mu \mathrm{ K-arcmin } $ at high frequencies, will substantially enhance our ability to determine the magnetic field structure in Galactic cold clumps. At $\ge5\,\sigma$ significance, we predict the Simons Observatory will detect at least $\sim12,000$ cold clumps in intensity and $\sim430$ cold clumps in polarization. This number of polarization detections would represent a two orders of magnitude increase over the current $Planck$ results. We also release software that can be used to mask these Galactic cold clumps in other analyses.

Abstract:AbstractAs an integral component of the LAMOST Experiment for Galactic Understanding and Evolution (LEGUE; Deng et al. 2012), the LAMOST Galactic anti-center spectroscopic survey (Liu et al. in preparation) will survey over three thousand square degree sky area centered on the Galactic anti-center (150d ≤ l ≤ 210d, −30d ≤ b ≤ +30d) and obtain low resolution (R ~ 1800) optical spectra for a statistically complete sample of more than three million stars down to a limiting magnitude of 18.5 in r band, distributed in a spatially contiguous area and probing a significant volume of the Galactic thin/thick disks, halo and their interface. Sample stars of the LAMOST survey of the Galactic anti-center are derived from a recently completed CCD imaging photometric survey utilizing the newly built 1.0/1.2m Schmidt Telescope at the Xuyi Station of the Purple Mountain Observatory. The Xuyi imaging survey (Yuan et al., in preparation; Zhang et al. 2012) provides high quality photometry (~2 per cent) in the SDSS g, r and i bands and astrometry (~0.1 arcsec) for about a hundred million stars down to a limiting magnitude of about 19 (10 sigma) for over six thousand square degree sky area (3h ≤ RA ≤ 9h, −10d ≤ Dec ≤ +60d) that envelopes the LAMOST spectroscopic survey area of the Galactic anti-center, plus an extension to the M 31 and M 33 region.This Digital Sky Survey of the Galactic Anti-center (DSS-GAC) with the Xuyi Schmidt and LAMOST telescopes will yield for the first time optical photometry and spectra for millions of stars in the Galactic disk(s), the defining component of the Milky Way as a typical spiral galaxy that contains most Galactic baryonic material and angular momentum. DSS-GAC will deliver classification, extinction, radial velocity and stellar parameters (Teff, log g, [Fe/H], probably also [α/Fe], and in some cases, [C/Fe]), for each sample star. Together with the accurate proper motions and distances to be obtained with the forthcoming GAIA mission, DSS-GAC offers a unique opportunity for major breakthroughs in studies of the Galactic structure, formation and evolution. In particular, DSS-GAC will generate a huge data set to 1) study the stellar populations, chemical composition and kinematics of the thin and thick disks and their interface with the halo; 2) Understand how resilient galaxy disks are to gravitational interactions/perturbations and study the temporal and secular evolution of the disks; 3) identify tidal streams and debris of disrupted dwarfs and clusters; 4) probe the gravitational potential and dark matter distribution; 5) map the three-dimensional distribution and extinction of the interstellar medium; 6) search for rare objects (e.g. stars of peculiar chemical composition, hyper-velocity stars); and 7) ultimately advance our understanding of the formation and evolution of stars and galaxies.Following a two-year commissioning, the LAMOST pilot survey was initiated in October, 2011 and completed in June, 2012. In total, about 370,000 spectra of 270,000 stars have been obtained for DSS-GAC, with 70 per cent of the spectra reaching a spectral S/N ratio per resolution element at 7150 Å higher than 20. The formal LAMOST DSS-GAC survey will commence in September, 2012, and is expected to complete in five years.

Abstract:In this paper, we set out to construct a set of reference mock galaxy redshift surveys (MGRSs) for the future Chinese Space-station Survey Telescope (CSST) observation, where subsequent survey selection effects can be added and evaluated. This set of MGRSs is generated using the dark matter subhalos extracted from a high-resolution Jiutian $N$-body simulation of the standard $\Lambda$CDM cosmogony with $\Omega_m=0.3111$, $\Omega_{\Lambda}=0.6889$, and $\sigma_8=0.8102$. The simulation has a boxsize of $1~h^{-1} {\rm Gpc}$, and consists of $6144^3$ particles with mass resolution $3.723 \times 10^{8} h^{-1} M_\odot $. In order to take into account the effect of redshift evolution, we first use all 128 snapshots in the Jiutian simulation to generate a light-cone halo/subhalo catalog. Next, galaxy luminosities are assigned to the main and subhalo populations using the subhalo abundance matching (SHAM) method with the DESI $z$-band luminosity functions at different redshifts. Multi-band photometries, as well as images, are then assigned to each mock galaxy using a 3-dimensional parameter space nearest neighbor sampling of the DESI LS observational galaxies and groups. Finally, the CSST and DESI LS survey geometry and magnitude limit cuts are applied to generate the required MGRSs. As we have checked, this set of MGRSs can generally reproduce the observed galaxy luminosity/mass functions within 0.1 dex for galaxies with $L > 10^8 L_\odot$ (or $M_* > 10^{8.5} M_\odot$) and within 1-$\sigma$ level for galaxies with $L < 10^8L_\odot$ (or $M_* < 10^{8.5} M_\odot$). Together with the CSST slitless spectra and redshifts for our DESI LS seed galaxies that are under construction, we will set out to test various slitless observational selection effects in subsequent probes.
