Abstract:Possible interpretations for the $\ensuremath{\zeta}(2230)$ are discussed in accordance with new data from Baltrusaitis et al., Aston et al., and Binon et al., and it is argued that the $\ensuremath{\zeta}(2230)$ is likely to be a ${(\mathrm{qs})}_{3*}\ensuremath{-}{(\overline{q}\overline{s})}_{3}(q=u,d)$ baryonium state, which couples strongly to $\ensuremath{\Lambda}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ and decays to $K\overline{K}$, $K{\overline{K}}^{*}$, ${\overline{K}}^{*}{K}^{*}$, $\ensuremath{\eta}\ensuremath{\eta},\ensuremath{\eta}{\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$, ${\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}{\ensuremath{\eta}}^{\ensuremath{'}}$, and $\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\varphi}$, via quark rearrangement, and also to $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{\pi}$, $\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\omega}$, and $\ensuremath{\varphi}\ensuremath{\varphi}$ via quark annihilation, and therefore has a narrow width. A possible $s\overline{s}g$ hybrid state, which can decay to $\ensuremath{\varphi}\ensuremath{\varphi}$, $\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\varphi}$, and other mesons, is also suggested.
