Abstract:Two open-framework germanates, SUT-1 and SUT-2, have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions using ethylenediamine (en, H(2)NCH(2)CH(2)NH(2)) as templates and Ni(NO(3))(2)·6H(2)O as the transition-metal source. Their frameworks are built with Ge(10) clusters and [Ni(en)(2)](2+) complexes. In both structures, Ge(10) clusters form square nets in the a-c plane, while the [Ni(en)(2)](2+) complexes bridge the square nets via Ni-O-Ge bonds to form 3D networks. They present the first examples to incorporate Ni(2+) complexes into the germanate frameworks. In SUT-2, additional linkages by Ge(2)O(7) clusters between the square nets generate a new type of topology.

Abstract:The title complex [Ni(C4H4O5)(C6H6N4S2)(H2O)].2.5H(2)O has been prepared and its crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction method. The crystal belongs to monoclinic, space group P2(1)/n with a = 16.499(2), b 10.132(l), c 11. 177(2)Angstrom, beta = 109.76(1)degrees, V = 1758.4(4)degrees, Angstrom(3) M-r = 452.11, Z = 4, D-c = 1.708 g/cm(3), mu = 1.391 mm(-1), F(000) = 932, R 0.0424 and wR 0.1088 for 2341 observed reflections (I>2sigma(I)). The complex assumes a distorted octahedral coordination geometry formed by one oxydiacetate dianion, one diaminobithiazole and one coordinated water molecule. The parallel thiazole rings of adjacent complex molecules overlap to each other, and the separation of 3.459(7) Angstrom suggests the existence of pi-pi stacking.

Abstract:The title compound, [Ni(NCS)(C6H6N4S2)(CH4O)]Cl, consists of an Ni-II complex cation and a Cl- anion. The Ni-II complex has an octahedral coordination, with the isothiocyanate and methanol ligands in cis positions. The diaminobithiazole ligands are each nearly planar, but the Ni-II atom is out of the planes of the thiazole rings, the deviations ranging from 0.113 (5) to 0.389 (4) Angstrom.

Abstract:Three novel microporous three-dimensional (3-D) metal-organic framework materials [ML](n) [M = Ni, Co, Cd; L = N,N'-bis(4-picolinoyl)hydrazine] were obtained from hydrothermal reactions. The organic ligand L was formed through the in situ ring-opening hydrolysis reaction of 2,5-bis(4-pyridyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole with the assistance of metal ions. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies reveal that complexes 1-3 adopt 6-connected 3-D networks of distorted alpha-Po topology, which are built from non-interpenetrated (4,4) grids cross-linked by zigzag chains. These isomorphic complexes are all of high thermal stability, but some other physical properties are quite different because of their different metal centers. Antiferromagnetic exchange was observed between Ni(II) centers of complex 1, while ferromagnetic for Co(II) centers of complex 2. Complex 3 exhibits strong fluorescence emission.

Abstract:Two Schiff base ligands ( L1 and L2) were prepared by condensation of 5-chlorosalicylalde-hyde and 5-bromosalicylaldehyde with N-cyclohexyl-1,3-propanediamine, respectively.Two novel tri-nuclear nickel(Ⅱ) Schiff base complexes(1 and 2) were synthesized by reaction of Ni (Ac)2·4H2O with L1 and L2 , respectively .The structures were characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction .1 (CCDC:1 008 203) and 2(CCDC:1 008 204) belong to monoclinic system, space group P21/c. The unit cell parameters were as followed:1:a=9.111(4) ?, b=12.089(6) ?, c=18.724(8) ?,β=92.117(7)°;2:a=9.346 8(12) ?, b=11.507 3(15) ?, c=18.539(2) ?,β=93.774(2)°.

Abstract:Microporous materials have a wide range of important applications in separation, gas adsorption, ion-exchange and catalysis. Open-framework germanates are a family of microporous compounds and are of particular interest. This thesis focuses on the synthesis and characterization of new open-framework germanates as well as introducing the transition-metal nickel into germanate structures.One new microporous germanosilicate, SU-78 and four new open-framework germanates, SU-74, SU-75, SU-69 and SU-76 have been obtained by using organic molecules as structure directing agents (SDAs). The incorporation of nickel and organic SDAs in the synthesis resulted in five novel nickel germanates, SUT-1, SUT-2, SUT-3, SUT-4 and SUT-5, in which nickel complexes act either as framework-forming components or as structure directing agents.The general synthesis route is described and the variables that affect the synthesis products are summarized. Different techniques applied on the characterization of chemical and physical properties of the products are also introduced.

Abstract:Two new mononuclear Nickel(II) Schiff base complexes [Ni L 2 ] (1) and [Ni L 2 ( D M S O ) 2 ] (2) where HL is 2,4-dibromo-6-[(E)-{[2-(thiophen-2-yl)ethyl]imino}methyl]phenol, a bidentate Schiff base prepared from the condensation reaction of 2-thiopheneethylamine and 3,5dibromosalicylaldehyde, have been made. Complexes 1-2 are characterized by FTIR, UV-Vis. absorption spectra, TGA analysis (for 2), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Complexes 1-2 crystallize in a similar space group P21/c as a monoclinic system. X-ray crystallography data indicate that complex 1 has a distorted square planar geometry whereas 2 has distorted octahedral geometry. Using the crystallographic data, the Hirshfeld surface (HS) analysis was also carried out to examine the nature and quantitative contribution of all potential non-covalent intermolecular interactions inside the crystal lattice. Supramolecular chains in 1 through Br∙∙∙Br and π∙∙∙π interactions and in 2 via C‒Br∙∙∙π intermolecular interactions have been observed. The interaction energies between molecules within the crystals were computed to get idea about molecular packing stabilization.

Abstract:Two novel metal-organic frameworks, formulated as [Ni-3(qptc)(2)(H2O)(3)]center dot 3.5H(2)O center dot 3Me(2)NH (1) and [Co-3(qptc)(2)(H2O)(4)]center dot 5H(2)O (2) (H (4)qptc = 1,1': 4', 1 '': 4 '',1 '''-quaterphenyl-2,4,2 ''',4 '''-tetracarboxylic acid), have been hydrothermally constructed based on a rigid aromatic multicarboxylate ligand. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows that complex 1 crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system with space group P1 and possesses a 4,8-connected 3D open framework including trinuclear nickel Ni-3 SBUs, which belongs to an scu topology with the point symbols (4(16).6(12)) and (4(4).6(2)). Complex 2 belongs to the monoclinic crystal system with space group C2/c and exhibits a 3D framework containing Co-3 SBUs, which is a flu topology with the point symbols (4(12).6(12).8(4)) and (4(6)). Furthermore, the variable-temperature magnetic susceptibilities of complexes 1 and 2 have been investigated. Both complexes show weak ferromagnetic coupling between metal ions estimated by using a linear trinuclear model for 1 in the range of 2-300 K and the PHI program for 2 in the range of 20-300 K taking the orbital contribution into consideration.

Abstract:A new nickel (II) complex with bis-schiff bases from picolinaldehyde N-oxide and 1,2-propanediamine, [Ni (piopn) (H2O)(2)] (ClO4)(2) has been synthesised and its crystal structure has been determined. The crystal belongs to monoclinic system, space group C-c, with cell dimensions: a=0.7397(3) angstrom, b=1.3187(7) angstrom, c=2.5502(14) angstrom, beta=102.18(4)degrees, V=224.10 angstrom, D-c=1.71 g.cm(-3), F(000)=1135.8, mu=11.65 cm(-1). According to the semiempirical MO theory calculation, the relationships between IR frequency shifts of nu(C-N) and nu(N center dot center dot center dot O) bands and their characteristics of chemical bonds have been discussed.
