Abstract:[1] In the paper “Analysis of electromagnetic scattering by a plasma anisotropic sphere” by Y. Geng et al. (Radio Science, 38(6), 1104, doi:10.1029/2003RS002913, 2003), there were some typos and formulation errors which the authors failed to check out. They are thus highlighted here for corrections: [2] The electric field of incidence wave is assumed to be E = where an E0 on the right hand side of equation (24) is missing. [3] The coefficient amnx on the right hand side of equation (30b) should be replaced by bmnx. [4] The second (−i)n on the right hand side of equation (31) is replaced by (−i)n+1. [5] In Appendix A, the spherical vector wave functions Lmn(r, k), Mmn(r, k), and Nmn(r, k) form a complete set of orthogonal basis functions; in equations (A2a)–(A2c), the coefficients tmnp(θk) (where t = a, b, or c; and p = x, y, or z) should be replaced by tmnp; and the expansion coefficients of plane wave factors tmnp are not necessarily unique.
