Abstract:A facile and transition-metal-free method was developed through merging the ring opening of benzoxazoles with secondary amines and N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) mediated oxidative cyclization toward the synthesis of 2-aminobenzoxazoles. NBS was selected as a powerful oxidant in the oxidative cyclization of ring-opening amidines to provide the desirable 2-aminobenzoxazoles in excellent yields (up to 94%).

Abstract:Herein, an atom-economical and eco-friendly electrochemical oxidation/cyclization of glycine derivatives through intramolecular Shono-type oxidative coupling is disclosed, leading to a variety of 2-substituted benzoxazoles in 51-85% yields. This oxidative cyclization proceeded in transition metal- and oxidant-free conditions and generated H-2 as only a byproduct. Additionally, gram-scale reactions and a broad substrate scope demonstrated the synthetic usefulness of this protocol.

Abstract:Here, a mild and general oxidative radical relay carbocyclization reaction with 2-arylbenzoimidazoles and cyclic ethers is reported. This method provides an efficient access to a wide range of structurally diverse benzimidazo[2,1-a]isoquinoline-6(5H)-ones under metal-free conditions. The wide substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and scale-up operation of this method are expected to promote its potential applications in biotechnology and pharmacy.

Abstract:An electrochemically promoted coupling of benzoxazoles and amines has been developed, leading directly to the formation of 2-aminobenzoxazoles. The chemistry utilizes catalytic quantities of a tetraalkylammonium halide redox catalyst and is carried out under constant current conditions in a simple undivided cell. The use of excess chemical oxidant or large amounts of supporting electrolyte is avoided. This greatly simplifies the workup and isolation process and leads to a reduction in waste.

Abstract:An effective and environmentally benign procedure for the synthesis of isoxazolines and isoxazoles has been developed by a cycloaddition of nitrile oxides with alkenes or alkynes in water. In this approach, potassium chloride is first oxidized into chlorine in water by the environmentally friendly oxidant Oxone®, then aldoximes are oxidized into nitrile oxides by the in situ generated hypochlorous acid, finally a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between nitrile oxides and alkenes or alkynes occurs to provide the corresponding isoxazolines and isoxazoles in good yields.

Abstract:An effective method for the synthesis of benzazoles through the electrochemical oxidative cyclization of o‐aminophenol/o‐aminothiophenol/o‐phenylenediamine and aldehydes was developed. A series of benzazoles were efficiently synthesized by using this method in good yields. Furthermore, this method was applied to the synthesis of drug thiabendazole in a gram‐scale, which proved the practicality of the method. This approach avoids using catalysts and oxidants, and has the advantages of wide substrate range, mild reaction conditions and good tolerance of functional groups. Finally, the possible reaction mechanism was proposed and supported by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and the control experiments.

Abstract:Benzoxazines are important structures in pharmaceuticals and functional molecules. We herein described an electrochemical oxidative strategy for the synthesis of benzoxazines without transition-metal catalysts and external oxidants. In a undivided cell, a series of olefinic amides can be transferred to difluoromethylated benzoxazines in up to 87% yield via oxydifluoromethylation with CF2HSO2Na as the difluoromethylating reagent.

Abstract:A method to assemble 2‐aminobenzoxazoles via iron‐catalyzed redox condensation of amines, carbon disulfide and 2‐nitrophenols is reported. The reaction features advantages of environmentally friendly iron catalyzed conditions, readily available starting materials, and excellent atom‐, step‐ and redox economy compared to known protocols. Experimental investigation suggests a mechanism encompassing iron‐catalyzed reduction of the nitro group of 2‐nitrophenols by the dithiocarbamate group from amine‐CS2 adduct.

Abstract:A facile, green, and efficient method for the direct oxidative amination of benzoxazoles using heterocyclic ionic liquid as catalyst has been developed. The reaction proceeded smoothly at room temperature and gave the desirable 2-aminobenzoxazoles with good to excellent yields (up to 97%). The catalyst 1-butylpyridinium iodide can be easily recycled and reused with similar efficacies for at least four cycles.

Abstract:A novel strategy for catalytic synthesis of 2-aryl-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazoles by non-noble molybdenum-catalyzed deoxygenative heterocyclization of 2-nitroazobenzenes is described, bearing a wide range of functional groups in good to excellent yields. The salient features of the transformation include the use of readily available substrates, valuable products and ease of scale-up. The mechanistic study indicates the reaction occurred via twice deoxygenation by Mo(VI)/Mo(IV) catalytic cycle from 2-nitroazobenzene, through the formation of 2-aryl-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazole-N1-oxide or nitrene intermediates.

Abstract:An iron-mediated bromination/cyclization for the synthesis of bromobenzoxazines from olefinic amides has been successfully developed. In this protocol, the simple iron salt FeBr 3 was employed as a bromination reagent, giving the bromobenzoxazine products in moderate to excellent yields. This methodology features good functional group tolerance, gram-scale synthesis, and green reaction conditions by the use of air as the terminal oxidant. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that a free radical pathway is involved. Abstract:An unprecedented chiral secondary amine-catalyzed formal [4 + 2] annulation of aldehydes and oxidation-generated β-unsubstituted o-QMs is reported. This asymmetric protocol allows direct functionalization of the benzylic C–H bonds and furnishes [4 + 2] cycloadducts, chromanols, with excellent enantioselectivity and in up to 92% yield. The usability of this approach was further demonstrated by the enantioselective synthesis of anticancer Rhinacanthins derivative NKPLS8.

Abstract:We report herein an efficient synthesis of 3‐arylbenzothiazolin‐2‐one compounds. First, substituted benzothiazoles can be smoothly oxidized to benzothiazolin‐2‐one derivatives in the presence of CuCl2 and trifluoroacetic anhydride. Secondly, the Cu2S‐catalyzed N‐arylation of benzothiazolin‐2‐one with arylboronic acids yields a series of novel 3‐aryl benzothiazolin‐2‐one derivatives. The method provides good yields for a variety of substrates and shows good compatibility with functional groups. The usefulness of the skeleton was further illustrated by the derivatisation of 3‐aryl‐benzothiazolin‐2‐one. Mechanistic studies suggest that the oxidation of benzothiazole may undergo a free radical reaction process.

Abstract:The bioinspired ortho-quinone catalysts have been applied to heterocycles synthesis. Without any metal cocatalysts, a sole oftho-quinone catalyst enables the oxidative synthesis of benzimidazoles, quinoxalines and benzoxazoles from primary amines in high yields under mild conditions with oxygen as the terminal oxidant.

Abstract:A three-component reaction of cyclobutanone oxime esters, DABCO·(SO2)2 and N-alkyl-N-methacryloyl benzamides is described. This reaction proceeds without the addition of any oxidant or transition metal, affording sulfonyl-containing isoquinoline-1,3-(2H,4H)-diones in moderate to good yields. Various functional groups are tolerated well in this transformation. Mechanistic studies suggest that a radical pathway is involved, including β-scission, sulfur dioxide insertion, and intramolecular cyclization processes.

Abstract:An iron-mediated oxidative cyanation of tertiary amines with benzoyl cyanide and molecular oxygen or TBHP has been achieved. This reaction furnished α-cyanated tertiary amines under mild reaction conditions in good to excellent yields (up to 94%) with great diversity (19 examples). The cascade process involves an iron-catalyzed oxidation of tertiary amine. Our protocol features safety cyanation reagent, acid-free conditions, inexpensive iron catalyst, and aerobic oxidation.

Abstract:An efficient N-H and C(sp3)-H functionalization of aryl ketones with benzylamines/amino acids was developed under mild conditions by virtue of anodic oxidation. A variety of functionalized 2,5-diaryloxazoles were obtained with good to excellent yields. Moreover, some important natural products can be prepared by this method. The reaction features a broad substrate scope, scalability, metal-free and chemical oxidant-free.
