Abstract:The hydrosilylation reactions of three fluorinated phenoxy-imine ligands, N-(3-allylsalicylidene)-2,6-difluoroaniline(1), N-(3-allylsalicylidene)-2,3,5,6-tetrafluoroaniline(2) and N-(3-allylsalicylidene)-2,3,4,5,6-pentafluoroaniline (3), with triethoxysilane (TES) and 1,1,1,3,5,5,5-heptamethyltrisiloxane (MDHM) catalyzed by Pt complex (Pt-PMVS) has been studied. Three silylated products bearing Si-OEt bonds were prepared, after optimizing reaction conditions, the product selectivity were in the range of 51%similar to 59%, and followed the order 1>2>3. The products and byproducts were isolated and characterized by FT-IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR,Si- 29 NMR, HRMS, and elemental analysis. As a comparison, other three silylated phenoxy-imine ligands were obtained by hydrosilylation of ligands with MDHM. The product selectivity were around 93%similar to 96%, and the side reactions were substantially suppressed.

Abstract:Vinylsilanes are very useful building blocks in organic synthesis and have widespread applications in life sciences and materials chemistry. Here we describe the potential of complex cis‐[Fe(PCP‐iPr)(CH2CH2CH3)(CO)2] as an effective catalyst for the hydrosilylation of both terminal and internal alkynes with SiPhH3 to give vinylsilanes. The reactions were typically performed with a catalyst loading of 1 mol% for 24 h at 70oC. The catalytic reaction is initiated by migratory insertion of a CO ligand into the Fe‐alkyl bond to yield an acyl intermediate which reacts with silanes to form the 16e‐ Fe(II) silyl catalyst [Fe(PCP‐iPr)(SiPhH2)(CO)]. In the case of aliphatic terminal alkynes good regioselectivity (anti‐Markovnikov addition) towards the thermodynamically more stable β‐(E)‐vinylsilanes in ratios of up to 10:90 was achieved, while for aromatic alkynes the selectivities were poor with ratios of β‐(Z)‐ to β‐(E)‐vinylsilanes of about 40:60. With internal unsymmetrical alkynes, the two possible regioisomers of the syn‐addition of SiPhH3 were obtained in different ratios with no clear trend towards one regioisomer. Internal symmetrical alkynes yielded exclusively the respective syn‐products in high yields. Mechanistic investigations including deuterium labelling studies were undertaken to provide a reasonable reaction mechanism.

Abstract:A highly regio- and enantioselective cobalt-catalyzed sequential hydrosilylation/hydrogenation of alkynes was developed to afford chiral silanes. This one-pot method is operationally simple and atom economic. It makes use of relatively simple and readily available starting materials, namely alkynes, silanes, and hydrogen gas, to construct more valuable chiral silanes. Primary mechanistic studies demonstrated that highly regioselective hydrosilylation of alkynes with silanes occurred as a first step, and the subsequent cobaltcatalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of the resulting vinylsilanes showed good enantioselectivity.

Abstract:A highly chemo-, regio- and stereoselective cobalt-catalyzed Markovnikov hydrosilylation of alkynes was developed. Various functionalized groups, such as halides, free alcohols, free aniline, ketones, esters, amides, and nitriles are tolerated, which may lead to further applications and late-stage derivatizations. To date, this is the most efficient cobalt catalytic system (TOF=65520h(-1); TOF=turnover frequency) for hydrosilylation of alkynes. The Hiyama-Denmark cross-coupling reactions of vinylsilanes with aryl iodides underwent smoothly to afford 1,1-diarylethenes. A unique regioselectivity-controllable hydrosilylation/hydroboration reaction of alkynes was also described.

Abstract:A general and mild hydrosilylation of thioalkynes is described. With the cationic catalyst [Cp*Ru(MeCN)3 ](+) and the bulky silane (TMSO)3 SiH, a range of thioalkynes underwent smooth hydrosilylation at room temperature with excellent α regioselectivity and syn stereoselectivity. DFT calculations provided important insight into the mechanism, particularly the unusual syn selectivity with the [Cp*Ru(MeCN)3 ](+) catalyst. The sulfenyl group in the substrates was found to provide important chelation stabilization to direct the reaction through a new mechanistic pathway.

Abstract:Iridium complexes are known catalysts for a range of silylation reactions. However, the exploitation for selective hydrosilylation of unsymmetrical internal alkynes has been limitedly known. Described here is a new example of this type. Specifically, [(cod)IrCl]2 catalyzes the efficient and mild hydrosilylation of thioalkynes by various silanes with excellent regio- and stereoselectivity. DFT studies suggested a new mechanism involving Ir(I) hydride as the key intermediate.

Abstract:A concise hydrosilylation of alkynes for synthesizing β‐(E)‐vinylsilanes catalyzed by dirhodium(II)/XantPhos has been developed. In this reaction, β‐(E)‐vinylsilanes were generated from the isomerization of β‐(Z)‐vinylsilanes catalyzed by dirhodium(II) hydride species rather than the direct insertion of triple bond into M‐H or M‐Si bond (traditional Chalk–Harrod mechanism or modified Chalk‐Harrod mechanism). The hydrosilylation displayed a broad substrate scope for alkynes and tertiary silanes, tolerating diverse functional groups including halides, nitrile, amines, esters, and heterocycles.

Abstract:Addition of interelement compounds across alkynes is a straightforward strategy for the synthesis of densely functionalized alkenes, which are versatile units in numerous biologically active compounds. Of these processes the bis-silylation of alkynes is of particular interest, due to the synthetic use of the alkenyl silane reaction products. While cis -bis-silylation of alkynes is well known, trans -bis-silyation of alkynes is relatively underdeveloped. Here, we report the intermolecular trans -bis-silylation of terminal alkynes, using Pd-catalysis and disilane reagent 8-(2-substituted-1,1,2,2-tetramethyldisilanyl)quinoline (TMDQ), to selectively form trans -bis-silylated alkenes. The reaction process was found to be compatible with aryl and alkyl alkynes as well as those bearing electron-withdrawing groups and other alkenyl or alkynyl functionalities. The use of the reaction was displayed through late-stage functionalization of terminal alkynes bearing natural product or drug motifs and onward synthetic transformations of the trans -bis-silylated alkenes reaction products. Experimental and computational mechanistic studies reveal that the reaction probably proceeds through a combined cis -bis-silylation and Z / E isomerization process and that the use of TMDQ as the limiting reagent is key to the desired reactivity.

Abstract:An iron-catalyzed highly anti-Markovnikov selective, enantioselective hydrosilylation of vinylcyclopropanes with PhSiH3 was reported for the preparation of valuable chiral allylic silanes via stereospecific C-C bond cleavage. Simultaneously, difficultly prepared chiral VCPs could be also obtained with moderate to excellent enantioselectivity via this kinetic resolution pathway. The chiral Z-allylic silanes could be converted to various chiral allylic derivatives. A possible mechanism via an iron-silyl species was proposed based on experimental and computational studies.

This protocol is operationally simple and atom-economy, and using relatively simple and readily available starting materials. Abstract:Here, we describe simple B(C6F5)3-catalyzed mono- and dihydrosilylation reactions of terminal alkynes by using a silane-tuned chemoselectivity strategy, affording vinylsilanes and unsymmetrical geminal bis(silanes). This strategy is applicable to the dihydrosilylation of both aliphatic and aryl terminal alkynes with different silane combinations. Gram-scale synthesis and conducting the reaction without the exclusion of air and moisture demonstrate the practicality of this methodology. The synthetic utility of the resulting products was further highlighted by the structural diversification of geminal bis(silanes) through transforming the secondary silane into other silyl groups. Comprehensive theoretical calculations combined with kinetical isotope labeling studies have shown that a prominent kinetic differentiation between the hydrosilylation of alkynes and vinylsilane is responsible for the chemoselective construction of unsymmetrical 1,1-bis(silanes).

Abstract:The iron-catalyzed highly Markovnikovtype selective and enantioselective hydrosilylation of terminal aliphatic alkenes with good functional group tolerance is developed. This operationally simple protocol uses earth-abundant transition metal catalyst, readily available aliphatic alkenes and hydrosilanes to construct valuable chiral organosilanes with better than 99% ee in most cases. The chiral aliphatic alkan-2-ol and chiral dihydroxysilane as an analogue of ketone could be efficiently synthesized via further derivatization of chiral organosilanes without any racemization.

Abstract:AbstractDouble hydrosilylation of alkynes represents a straightforward method to synthesize bis(silane)s, yet it is challenging if α‐substituted vinylsilanes act as the intermediates. Here, a cobalt‐catalyzed regiodivergent double hydrosilylation of arylacetylenes is reported for the first time involving this challenge, accessing both vicinal and geminal bis(silane)s with exclusive regioselectivity. Various novel bis(silane)s containing Si−H bonds can be easily obtained. The gram‐scale reactions could be performed smoothly. Preliminarily mechanistic studies demonstrated that the reactions were initiated by cobalt‐catalyzed α‐hydrosilylation of alkynes, followed by cobalt‐catalyzed β‐hydrosilylation of the α‐vinylsilanes to deliver vicinal bis(silane)s, or hydride‐catalyzed α‐hydrosilylation to give geminal ones. Notably, these bis(silane)s can be used for the synthesis of high‐refractive‐index polymers (nd up to 1.83), demonstrating great potential utility in optical materials.

Abstract:Alkyne hydrosilylation represents a straightforward method to synthesize vinylsilanes that have found numerous applications in synthetic chemistry and material science, yet it is challenging to produce silicon-sterogenic hydrosilanes through catalytic asymmetric hydrosilylation of prochiral dihydrosilanes with internal diarylalkynes. Here, we describe a highly efficient palladium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrosilylations of general internal diarylalkynes with different symmetric or unsymmetric aryl groups, each of which processes through desymmetrization of prochiral dihydrosilanes. The synthetic power of this approach is demonstrated firstly and systemly in the synthesis of chiral-at-silicon organosilicon compounds bearing various aromatic groups with high enantioselectivity (up to 97% ee) that would be challenging to produce by means of traditional synthetic methods. A unique efficiency and reaction result for the chiral ligand-controllable hydrosilylation reaction of alkynes was also described with ppm-level of Pd catalyst. To date, this is the most efficient palladium-based catalyst system for catalytic asymmetric hydrosilylation of alkynes.
