Abstract:Flexible loads are one of the most important resources for balancing the new energy fluctuation.In consideration of the increasing uncertainty in power grid operation caused by the randomness,autonomy and disorder of flexible loads response, an assessment framework is proposed to tackle the effect and impact of flexible load interaction;a price-based and an incentive-based interactive response model is developed,respectively;an index assessment system involving the interaction degree, interaction effect and security impact of power grid is built;and a quantitative assessment method considering the interaction process is designed.The effectiveness of the proposed model,the indicators and assessment method are verified by the simulation results on an IEEE 39-bus system.

Abstract:Recently, with the increased intermittent renewable energy penetration, many power grids have been incorporated into a large-scale long-distance UHV AC–DC hybrid system. In the actual grid, power disturbances, such as DC blocking faults and trip-off of wind turbines, often occur, resulting in power shortages and large frequency ﬂuctuations. However, the existing approaches to assess the system frequency security are not reliable. This paper proposes an analytic formula for the system frequency response based on a generic system frequency-response (SFR) model, which can be applied to modern large-scale power systems. First, a generic SFR model with a reasonable structure is designed according to the parameter determination strategy. Second, according to the transfer function in the model, the time-domain analytic formula of the frequency response is obtained by realizing the inverse Laplace transform. Moreover, four main indexes are established to represent the characteristics of the frequency dynamic process in different periods, and these indexes are qualitatively and quantitatively analysed. Finally, the New England 10-unit 39-bus power system and East China Power Grid are considered to demonstrate the key features of the proposed method. The results show that the proposed analytic assessment method can be effectively adopted in several applications.

Abstract:Reactive power plays a significant rule in power system reliability and security. Reactive power is considered as the network constraint in conventional reliability evaluation techniques. The impact of the failures of reactive power sources such as synchronous condensers and compensators on system reliability has not been considered in the existing reliability techniques. This paper presents a technique to evaluate system and load point reliability indices of power systems considering reactive power shortages due to the failures caused by reactive power sources. The reliability indices due to the reactive power shortages are separated from those due to the real power shortages. Two reliability indices related to reactive power shortage are proposed. The IEEE 30-bus system is modified and analyzed to illustrate the proposed technique. The results provide very important information for system planners and operators for reactive power management.

Abstract:Power quality evaluation data are heterogeneous and fluctuating, and there are large subjective factors in the evaluation process. To solve this problem, a power quality evaluation method based on incentive punishment factor and the ordered weighted aggregation (OWA) operators was proposed. The integrity and fairness of the evaluation information were guaranteed, through the homogenisation of the evaluation data. And using incentive and penalty factors to calculate the single index evaluation value without considering the time factor. By introducing the time weights and adopting the linear target programming model and ordered the weighted averaging operator to get the primary evaluation values of the indices in the inspection period. Then, the minimum variance method was used to get index weights, and the ordered weighted geometric averaging (OWGA) operator was applied to obtain the comprehensive evaluation value of the power quality. Finally, the power quality of a distribution system with photovoltaic generation under different load conditions is analysed as an example. The results showed that the method proposed in this paper distinguishes the power quality level under various load conditions significantly, which verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the model.

Abstract:Direct power purchase (DPP) by large consumers is an important measure of electric power market reform, which is conducive to improving the level of optimal allocation of power resources. From the perspective of safe operation of power system, it is urgent to study the influence of DPP on cascading failure in power system. In this paper, the model of DPP and cascading failure in power system are established respectively. Furthermore, three evaluation indexes, expected demand not supplied (EDNS), expected loss of nodes (ELON) and expected congestion power (ECP), are comprehensively considered, so as to propose an assessment algorithm for cascading failure in power system under the background of DPP by large consumers. The simulation results of the IEEE-RTS79 test system show that the established assessment algorithm can effectively analyze the consequences of cascading failure under different proportions of DPP. Finally, suggestions for determining the scale of DPP and active defensive measures are put forward.

Abstract:An assessment index is established based on the analysis of local conditions of Northwest China Power Grid to be more fair,scientific,reasonable evaluating the effect of generator units in the primary frequency regulation.In large disturbance,frequency follow-up function and stability of generator unit is considered.In small disturbance,the speed of the primary frequency is considered.Accuracy and generator unit type is also considered in contributing electricity calculating. Then two example generator unit data is giving,the result show that this method of contributing electricity calculating is fair, scientific,reasonable to evaluate the effect of generator units in the primary frequency regulation.

Abstract:Electricity indexes are an important quantitative measure to reflect regional socio-economic development, power development, and upgrading. In response to the problem that the existing index-based evaluation system of electric power does not reflect the low carbon background, this paper proposes a method for extracting and assessing critical indexes of electricity power. Firstly, low-carbon-related indexes are investigated and integrated with the original evaluation system to form a comprehensive index set. Secondly, the critical indexes are screened by a reduction method based on the correlation coefficient method, and the corresponding weights of critical indexes were also calculated by the entropy value method and the coefficient of variation method. Different trapezoidal attribution functions are constructed based on the critical indexes characteristics, and a comprehensive score is assigned to evaluate the power network development.

Abstract:Economic and safe operation of the power industry is a critical foundation to support socio-economic development. In order to accurately assess the economic and operation efficiency for the power transmission system, the influential factors were analyzed in this paper, which used to establish the index system that consisted by critical indexes of power. What's more, the influence of grid-connected intermittent generations was considered. Firstly, the evaluation model was proposed based on the understanding of the key indicators of economic and operation efficiency of the regional power, considering intermittent generations. Secondly, the economic effectiveness and operational efficiency were set as two sub-goals, and comprehensive weights of various indexes were set by analytic hierarchy process based on the expert scoring method. Thirdly, the comprehensive economic and operation efficiency was assessed and identified by the multi-object multi-level fuzzy methods. Finally, through case analysis, the index system and method can effectively measure rank of economic and operation efficiency of the transmission system, and provide guidance of the development of regional power transmission system.

Abstract:While the existing technology loss reduction platform has made noteworthy strides in theoretical line loss calculation, reactive power optimization, and power flow scheduling optimization, it faces limitations in accurately assessing the reactive power compensation capabilities of power suppliers and providing precise regulation on the reactive power compensation preferences of power consumers. To address these issues, this paper introduces a construction scheme for a provincial technical loss reduction interactive management and control platform that considers the reactive power compensation potential on both the supply and demand sides. The paper presents the design and implementation of two advanced technical loss reduction functions: "Operational State Diagnosis of Low Voltage Reactive Power Compensation Devices" and "Exploration of Reactive Power Potential for Users with Speciality Transformers." The former aims to enhance the effective utilization of low voltage reactive power compensation equipment, exploiting the network loss management potential in low voltage distribution networks. The latter establishes a collaborative, mutually beneficial, and win-win reactive power loss reduction system through information sharing and interaction mechanisms within the platform. Currently, the platform proposed in this paper has been successfully implemented in a provincial power grid, demonstrating outstanding performance.

Abstract:This study investigates the feasibility of utilizing the line loss power factor to assess the reactive, unbalanced, and harmonic line losses in low-voltage distribution networks and explores the method of calculating decoupled line loss values based on this factor. To achieve this objective, we establish preliminary definitions of single-phase and three-phase reactive, unbalanced, and harmonic line loss power factors, drawing upon the principles of electrical theory outlined in IEEE Standard 1459. These power factors serve as crucial indicators for evaluating the severity of line losses caused by reactive power, unbalance, and harmonic problems. Subsequently, the values of line loss attributed to reactive, unbalanced, and harmonic components are decoupled and quantified using the line loss power factor as a fundamental parameter. The effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method were verified in Matlab simulation and physical experiments.

Abstract:The authors emphasize that power quality should be divided into two categories, i.e., the continuous and the event-based, then describe the physical meaning of event-based power quality and point out the significance of such a categorization in comprehensive assessments. Based on the theory of economic equivalent balance, the indices influencing event-based power quality are normalized according to the concept of economic equivalent time. On this basis, a concept on event-based power supply reliability is put forward, in which the long-term service interruption, voltage sag, voltage swell and short-time power supply interruption are comprehensively taken into account. This concept is reasonable in a certain extent and can be used in practice.

Abstract:After the occurrence of grid emergency, fast and accurate evaluation of harmful levels of the incident and identification of disaster-level are the basis for activate contingency plans, reasonable allocation of resources and thus crisis management. Combined with the practical, the paper sets up grading evaluation index system of power emergency from the power grid losses, the user lossed and accident recovery three aspects, determines the weight of each index through AHP method, established grading evaluation index system of power emergency based on D-S evidence theory. Finally empirical analysis shows the scientific, rational and practical of the model.

Abstract:The importance and necessity of economic loss evaluation of power quality is discussed in the paper. In order to scientifically evaluate the economic loss of power quality indexes, the idea of meaningful classification of power quality problems is emphasized and the quality loss function is introduced into the evaluation models. According to the characteristics of continuous power quality problems, all indexes are divided into two intervals, namely qualified and unqualified, and evaluation methods based on quality loss function are proposed to calculate the economic loss caused by the exceeding indexes. In addition, effects of event-based power quality problems are fully considered, and their direct and potential economic loss evaluation models are determined according to their influence. On this basis, the concept of selective treatment of power quality is proposed, which solves the balance problem between technical and economic efficiency. It has highly practical operability and a light application prospect.

Abstract:Frequency stability is an important factor for the safety and stability of the power system operation. In a traditional power system, the operation stability is ensured by the inertia response, primary frequency modulation, and secondary frequency modulation. In recent years, in order to achieve the goal of carbon neutralization and carbon peaking, China has made great efforts in new energy development. With large-scale new energy connected to the power grid, the proportion of traditional conventional synchronous units has gradually declined. At the same time, a large number of power electronic devices have been used in the power grid, which led to the capability decline of the inertia response and primary frequency modulation. For example, the East China Power Grid has experienced a sharp frequency drop in such an environment. In order to solve the above problems, the operation principle and control mode of various new energy resources are analyzed in this paper. Moreover, the process and principle of power grid frequency response are studied and the evaluation index of frequency response capability is proposed. The research results can quantitatively evaluate the system inertia response and primary frequency modulation level and provides a judgment tool for dispatching operators and system planners.

Abstract:The effective asset of power grid is an important basis for the development of power grid enterprises and government regulation. Based on the value and functional characteristics of power grid assets, this paper establishes an evaluation index system for effective asset function of power grids. The analytic hierarchy process and entropy weight method are used to calculate the subjective and objective weights of each functional index, and the subjective and objective weights are combined by the method of squared deviation. The combined weights of the indicators are combined with the value engineering evaluation model to calculate the effective asset value coefficient, which is taken as the effective asset performance value. Finally, the relevant data of a provincial power grid enterprise for 2014-2018 is used. The established model is validated and the calculation results show that the established optimal model is feasible.

Abstract:The technical assessment index system of emergency management capability is one of the most important components of emergency management in urban power network. In this paper a fundamental framework conception for building technical assessment indices of emergence management capability in urban power network is proposed. In the aspect of emergency case analysis,outage risk of urban power network,tolerance degree of power custormers and power supply restoration capability the technical assessment indices of emergence management capability in urban power network is researched,and the development trend of assessment technique of emergence management capabilty in urban power network is pointed out. Research results of this paper are available for reference to the construction and development of emergence management of urban power networks in China.
