Optimal Ordering Decisions of a Crop Seed Supply Chain with Different Contracts

Abstract:This paper deals with the issue of inventory decision making in a crop seed supply chain that consists of one seed supplier and one seed retailer. First, the paper introduces three models, namely, no-allowing-return model, the partial return with wholesale price (PRW) model, and the partial return with wholesale price and return option fee (PRWO) model, and each depicting a particular type of retailer's ordering policy. These models are analyzed with the comparison mode and using some numerical examples to simulate them. The PRW policy, applied by present suppliers, cannot ensure channel coordination, whereas the PRWO policy can do so and can arbitrarily allocate the coordination profit to the agents on the supply chain.
