Clinical Analysis of Polypoid Lesions of Gallbladder:A Report of 398 Cases

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the clinical characteristics,pathological features and surgical indications of polypoid lesions of gallbladder(PLG).Methods:We have made some statistic analysis for the radiological and ultrasound information,pathological and operation data,all obtained from 398 patients with PLG diagnosed by B-ultrasotmd.Result:No significant correlation was found between age and sexly with clinicopathological findings of PLG.They presented no special clinical features.Most cholesterol PLG was multiple foci with a mean diameter of 5 mm,while Non-cholesterol PLG and early gallbladder cancer presented single focus with a mean diameter of10 mm and complicated with gallbladder stone.Conclusions:The patients older than 50 years with single polyp lesion with a diameter of10 mm and obvious clinical symptoms or complicated with gallbladder stone or growing quickly in short-term should resort to surgical treatment.And the PLG(5~10 mm) with obvious clinical symptoms and insensitive to medical treatment should also be operated on.Patients with no symptoms(5 mm) should be followed up periodically by B-ultrasotmd.Meanwhile the treatment of PLG should pay attention to adjust and control the cholesterol metabolism.
