Abstract:Under the background of "double first-class" construction, the teaching staff, as the foundation of the construction of colleges and universities, determines the overall construction effect of colleges and universities.High-level teachers are the guarantee of talent cultivation, education and teaching, scientific research and competitiveness of colleges and universities.However, the improvement of teachers' quality is affected by many factors, which leads to teachers' choices that affect their overall performance when facing teaching and scientific research tasks.In view of this, this study attempts to determine the relationship between professional ability, incentive mechanism and career satisfaction in Chinese universities and colleges, and to propose ways to improve teacher quality.A total of 400 valid questionnaires were collected in this study, and SPSS 26.0 software was used for descriptive analysis, variance analysis and regression analysis.The results show that there is a positive correlation between professional ability, incentive mechanism and teacher satisfaction in Chinese universities.This means that the stronger the professional ability of teachers, the better the incentive mechanism, the higher the satisfaction of teachers, and the corresponding improvement of teacher quality.Through this research, universities may encourage and support the training and professional development of young teachers.This will help balance the age structure of the teaching force and provide more development opportunities for young teachers.As teachers themselves, they may continuously improve their level of professional ability, including teaching and academic ability, and formulate their own career plans in order to adapt to the constant changes in society.Regular teacher training programs should be established to help enhance their professional competence, while salaries and benefits should be improved to better motivate teachers.

Abstract:Under the diversified development backgrounds of urban planning discipline,this paper presents that schools should keep their own teaching characteristics by using the concept of knowledge coverage to discuss the selection of contents in pre-professional education.From the angle of individual students,it presents the diversity of study approaches,and the comparison of depth and breadth.From the angle of schools,it presents that the core curriculums required by the "China Urban Planning Education Network" is limited.From the angle of social demand,it analyzes the diversified social demands and the need to expand the scope of planning discipline.It argues that schools with different professional advantages should cooperate in planning education.At last it extends that the "featured" knowledge coverage is essential to the educational reform and schools should optimize the overall knowledge coverage by keeping their own teaching advantages.

Abstract:With the changes of the times, China has made remarkable achievements in economic, political, social, cultural, and education can improve the comprehensive quality of the people, enhancing the country's comprehensive national strength and international competitiveness effect. China has importance to education, and in recent years has increased its investment in education. Higher education undertakes important functions such as cultivating talents, scientific research, and serving the society. It is an indispensable part of the education system, and these are closely related to the teaching staff of colleges. The development of quality education is an inevitable choice to promote it, an important way to implement it with morality, and promoting it of national governance capabilities. At present, there are four major problems in quality education in colleges: the marginalization of status, fuzzy goals, segmentation of content, and isolation of development paths. It is important to study and explore new ideas and strategies for promoting quality education. Nowadays, colleges are no longer the "ivory towers" of the past, and the construction of college teachers has also undergone many changes compared with the past. The topics and discussions about college teachers are increasing day by day, and the problems and confusion exposed to them have also aroused the attention of the society. Young teachers are the fresh blood of college teachers and the future of our country. It is particularly meaningful to study and understand the current professional development of these groups. The research object is the young teachers in colleges. Through the literature research method, it analyzes the status of the professional quality education in colleges, understands the problems existing in their professional development, analyzes the reasons, and puts forward corresponding countermeasures. Abstract:This study focused on three newly appointed primary school teachers in City D as research subjects. Utilizing research methods such as interviews, text analysis, and observation, the findings revealed that these teachers exhibited a substantial grasp of teaching reflection. The predominant emphasis in their teaching reflection levels was observed at the technical reasonable reflection and practical action reflection stages. To enhance the reflection levels of these novice teachers, it is recommended to foster their professional ethics, institute a diverse training system, and enhance the school’s infrastructure and institutional support systems.

Abstract:In recent years, China has made significant strides towards building a more inclusive education system, aiming to ensure that every child, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities, has access to quality education. This mission is not only driven by a commitment to human rights but also by the recognition that every individual has the potential to contribute meaningfully to society. Yet, while the intention is commendable, the road to achieving a truly inclusive educational landscape is fraught with challenges. One of the primary issues is the shortage of resources. Many educational institutions lack the necessary infrastructure and tools to cater to students with diverse needs. This inadequacy is compounded by a shortage of teachers trained in inclusive teaching methodologies, leading to a disconnect between student needs and instructional delivery. Additionally, the workload for educators, who are now expected to cater to a broader range of student needs without proportionate support, has seen a concerning increase. However, the research has shed light on promising solutions. Comprehensive teacher training programs focusing on special education methodologies can significantly bridge the knowledge gap. There is also a clarion call for enhanced school support, both in terms of infrastructure and personnel. Perhaps most crucially, public awareness campaigns can alter societal perspectives, fostering a more accepting and supportive environment for inclusive education. By meticulously implementing these strategies and continuously evaluating their efficacy, China stands on the brink of revolutionizing its education system, ensuring that no child is left behind.

Abstract:The purpose of establishing a teacher qualification system is to improve teachers' capacity for education and teaching. However, if this system is too uniform, rigid and fragmented, and its implementation too mechanical and technical, it may hinder the selection of teachers and their professional development. This article, by way of identifying some major characteristics of the teaching profession, examines the possible functions of the present teacher qualification system. In the end, a developmental teacher qualification system is advocated in order to select and train teachers in a more open and flexible manner, which may achieve its goal of improving teachers' capacity for education and teaching in turn.
A Study on the University Teachers' Practical Reasoning from the Chinese Socio-Cultural Perspective

Abstract:The divide between theory and practice in education evokes us to pay more attention to teachers' own practical reasoning.Getting a deeper understanding of teachers' thinking and action will lead to more effectiveness of education reform.Using the qualitative research method,this study analyzed the conflict discourse at work faced by university teachers from a key university and the coping strategies,and made a connection between their practical reasoning behind action and the Chinese socio-cultural tradition.Based on the data analysis of these teachers,this article mainly presents the representation of the practical reasoning of one Chinese university teacher,that is,to integrate,moderate and weigh to create a mirror image of the professional practice of Chinese university teachers.The study found that the teacher's practical reasoning was associated with the Chinese cultural tradition and the current societal realm where she lived in.A reference to the research in the fields of Chinese culture and folk psychology would lead to an in-depth portrait of the socio-cultural logic behind Chinese university teachers' practical reasoning.

Abstract:Sage Open, Volume 14, Issue 3, July-September 2024. In the context of economic globalization, cultural exchanges are becoming more and more frequent, and more and more international teachers come to China to teach. Using qualitative data collected from a university in Beijing, this study explored the international teachers' roles perceived by school administrators, students, and international teachers in the internationalization of Chinese higher education. Results indicate that international teachers play an important role in promoting higher education internationalization in China by serving as the backbones of the teaching process. They also act as walking billboards of internationalization and bridges facilitating communication with international students. However, the cognitive differences between international teachers and students regarding teaching, coupled with administrators' lack of understanding of international teachers' professional needs, hinder the teachers from fulfilling their roles and seeking continuing development. This study provides a new analytical perspective on the role of international teachers, exploring their role from the perspectives of students, school administrators and international teachers themselves, presenting practical recommendations to enhance international teachers' roles and providing suggestions such as cooperation model between international teachers and domestic teachers for future research, which may help managers of high education institutions to find the reason why they should introduce many international teachers and what kind of kind of teachers they should introduce to develop education internationalization.Plain language summaryUsing qualitative data collected from a university in Beijing, this study explored the international teachers' roles perceived by school administrators, students, and international teachers in the internationalization of Chinese higher education. Abstract:With the development of a pluralistic society and the arrival of a lifelong education society, the whole society’s expectation for the development of education has become more and more. Therefore, the educational expectation from society is undoubtedly a significant challenge to the professional development of teachers. Teachers’ professional development means the development of a teacher’s personal, professional life, including the enhancement of confidence, skills, and knowledge. The knowledge of the subject taught is continuously updated, broadened, and deepened (Hoyle & Megarry, 2016) . Teachers’ professional development is the accumulation of knowledge and skills and the system of teachers’ thinking, values, and beliefs. Encouraging teachers to reflect on teaching and improv ing their reflective ability can stimulate teachers’ sense of teaching efficacy and enable teachers to examine their teaching behaviors and ideas systematically. Teachers as the source of knowledge transfer and initiator, their beliefs in time, and the dynamic teaching process gradually accumulate. The novice teachers are flexible to use diverseteaching methods to be professional teachers in reflecting on the teaching and the long-term accumulation of reflective teaching has become a new angle of view to review the professional development of teachers’ beliefs.

Abstract:This chapter presents research findings of a study that investigates the experiences of teachers who were assigned to work in unfamiliar school environments in order to enhance the educational quality of a county that was attached to a major Chinese metropolis. As part of a national initiative to redistribute human resources across the school system, a teacher rotation system was established to implement a policy for educational equality. This study focuses on issues arising from the cross-school endeavor that challenged the capabilities and resilience of teachers serving in the rotation program. Guided by two sets of theoretical concepts—teacher leadership and Sen’s capability perspective—the study explores several dimensions of the work of urban teachers working in rural areas, including problems related to family separation, life-style adjustment, teaching and learning, teacher leadership, and structural weaknesses of the rotation program. Data gathered from interviews with eighteen teachers informed the bulk of the views presented in this chapter. The teachers’ account of their experiences in enacting the role of “experienced newcomers” delineates their trials and tribulations of becoming a professional who uphold teaching as “work of the conscience”.

Abstract:Abstract To promote holistic development in Chinese university students in Hong Kong, a general education subject entitled “Tomorrow’s Leaders” was developed and has been fully implemented in the new 4-year university curriculum since 2012. In the present article, the Onion Model is used as a framework for conducting systematic teacher reflection to enhance professional development. Challenges and issues central to the environment, behavior, competencies, beliefs, identity, and mission, as experienced and observed by a teacher of a leadership and positive youth development subject in Hong Kong, are discussed. Issues include the Hong Kong education environment, the impact of reinforcement, and the role of culture in teaching and learning, as well as postulations on leadership and human development. The article concludes with implications of the core reflection on my personal development.

Abstract:Improving the quality of education has been a central goal of the People’s Republic of China since its founding in 1949. Particular concern has been focused on ethnic minority areas where educational quality lags behind that of other regions. Since 1986 the State Education Commission has been working toward the implementation of nine years of compulsory education for all Chinese children nationwide. Implementing this policy has been particularly challenging in the less developed areas of western China where many ethnic minorities live. The solution rests in training an adequate number of teachers who are themselves from ethnic minority groups or who are willing to teach ethnic minority children. This article reviews a significant and growing body of English-language literature, drawn from the sociology of education, on minority teachers and teachers of minorities in the People’s Republic of China.
Approaches to Strengthening Ideals and Beliefs Education of China’s College Young Teachers

Abstract:At present, quite a number of China’s college young teachers have weakened or lost their ideals and beliefs, degenerated professional ethics, and problems concerning with education quality and academic integrity have occurred from time to time. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the ideals and beliefs education of college young teachers. However, previous researches on the ideals and beliefs education of college young teachers and its countermeasures mainly focused on one or several colleges and universities, and failed to put forward suggestions for improvement applicable to colleges and universities across the country. Based on inductive analysis of previous researches in the past 30 years, combined with experiences of the author of this paper, it is found that the root causes of the current problems of the ideals and beliefs education of college young teachers mainly come from three aspects: society, young teacher and higher education institution, hence three approaches for strengthening the ideals and beliefs education of China’s college young teachers are proposed. First of all, it is necessary to vigorously promote college young teachers to participate in social practice, to facilitate their objective understanding of social reality and establishing proper ideals and beliefs; secondly, take advantage of Internet technology and adopt a variety of online and offline effective methods to carry out ideological education for young teachers to enhance their identification of the ideals and beliefs advocated; and thirdly, colleges and universities need to improve their evaluation system, adopt an assessment model with equal emphasis on teaching and scientific research and ideals and beliefs, so as to guide young teachers to attach importance to the improvement of their own ideals and beliefs. Colleges and universities also need to combine ideals and beliefs education with solving young teachers’ practical problems in order to enhance the persuasive power of ideals and beliefs education and thus improve the effect of ideals and beliefs education. This paper points out the three root causes of the problem, and proposes three approaches from a macro perspective, hoping that it may inspire the ideals and beliefs education work of young teachers in Chinese colleges and universities.
