Abstract:A neural network model-based multi-step predictive control algorithm with its convergence analysis for nonlinear discrete systems is presented. The structure of this nonlinear system is separated into a simple linear part and a nonlinear part by using the local linearization of nonlinear activation functions. The proposed algorithm gives a direct and effective multi-step predicting method. It uses simple linear predictive control methods to get the control law and avoids the complicated nonlinear optimization. Simulation results show the efficiency of this method.

Abstract:The paper presents a new nonlinear predictive control design for a kind of nonlinear mechatronic drive systems, which leads to the improvement of regulatory capacity for both reference input tracking and load disturbance rejection. The nonlinear system is first treated into an equal linear time-variant system plus a nonlinear part using a neural network, then an iterative learning linear predictive controller is developed with a similar structure of PI optimal regulator and with setpoint feed forward control. Because the overall control law is a linear one, this design gives a direct and also effective multi-step prediction method and avoids the complicated nonlinear optimization. The control law is also an accurate one compared with traditional linearized method. Besides, changes of the system state variables are considered in the objective function with control performance superior to conventional state space predictive control designs which only consider the predicted output errors. The proposed method is compared with conventional state space predictive control method and classical PI optimal control method. Tracking performance, robustness and disturbance rejection are enlightened.

Abstract:A novel model predictive control method was proposed for a class of dynamic processes with modest nonlinearities in this paper. In this method, a diagonal recurrent neural network (DRNN) is used to compensate nonlinear modeling error that is caused because linear model is regarded as prediction model of nonlinear process. It is aimed at offsetting the effect of model mismatch on the control performance, strengthening the robustness of predictive control and the stability of control system. Under a certain assumption condition, linear model predictive control method is extended to nonlinear process, which doesn't need solve nonlinear optimization problem. Consequently, the computational efforts are reduced drastically. Two simulation examples show that the proposed method is an effective control strategy with excellent tracing characteristics and strong robustness.

Abstract:An error-backpropagation neural network (NN) is applied to iterative learning control for a class of nonlinear control systems. It realizes full-state feedback control for nonlinear systems via iteration. It avoids the demands of traditional PID learning control due to the generalizability of the neural network. Meanwhile, it avoids the difficulties of online control of fast systems. The gradient-type learning control algorithm is derived, which does not strictly depend on the model of the controlled system. Abstract:In this paper, an iterative learning control algorithm is proposed for discrete linear time-varying systems to track iteration-varying desired trajectories. A high-order internal model (HOIM) is utilized to describe the variation of desired trajectories in the iteration domain. In the sequel, the HOIM is incorporated into the design of learning gains. The learning convergence in the iteration axis can be guaranteed with rigorous proof. The simulation results with permanent magnet linear motors (PMLM) demonstrate that the proposed HOIM based approach yields good performance and achieves perfect tracking.

Abstract:An adaptive iterative learning control method is proposed for a class of nonlinear strict-feedback discrete-time systems with random initial conditions and iteration-varying desired trajectories. An n-step ahead predictor approach is employed to estimate the future states in the control design. Discrete Nussbaum gain method is utilised to deal with the lack of a priori knowledge of control directions. The proposed control algorithm guarantees the boundedness of all the signals in the controlled system. The tracking error converges to zero asymptotically along the iterative learning axis except for beginning states affected by random initial conditions. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is verified through numerical simulation.

Abstract:A new neural network iterative learning control is proposed for varying trajectories tracking of robotic manipulators with exogenous disturbance and uncertainties. To date, most of the available results in iterative learning control have been utilized in applications where robot manipulators are required to execute the same motion over and over again, with a certain periodicity. To overcome the varying trajectories and non-zero initial errors problems, the proposed control schemes learn the inverse structure of the system not concerning the error at each iteration employing the approximation of the neural network rather than learning the error in traditional iterative learning control algorithm. The convergence of the algorithm is proved using the Lyapunov-like function. The simulation. results show that the neural network can approximate the robot manipulator better, and the tracking error is decreased and tends to a small value, which demonstrate the effects of the algorithm on the robot manipulator.

Abstract:In this study, the problem of adaptive iterative learning control (AILC) for a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems with non-repetitiveness is considered. Two types of non-repetitive problem are studied in the nonlinear system and an AILC method with recursive least squares algorithm is designed to remove the influence of non-repetitiveness. It is shown that, the AILC law can guarantee the asymptotical tracking convergence of system state through rigorous analysis. In the end, an example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed AILC scheme.

Abstract:In this work, an adaptive iterative learning control (AILC) method is designed for a class of parametric discrete‐time nonlinear systems with random initial condition, unknown time‐varying input gain and multiple time‐iteration‐varying factors including multiple unknown time‐iteration‐varying parameters and unknown time‐iteration‐varying external disturbance. The iteration‐varying factors can be generated by virtue of multiple iteration‐varying high‐order internal models, respectively, where iteration‐varying high‐order internal model means it has iteration‐varying order or coefficients. Moreover, the parameter updating law is designed based on the recursive least squares algorithm. Using the designed AILC based on iteration‐varying high‐order internal model, the learning convergence in the iteration domain is guaranteed through rigorous theoretical analysis under Lyapunov theory. Finally, two simulation examples are given to demonstrate that the proposed scheme is effective.

Abstract:Using identification of neural networks, a new robust iterative learning control algorithm is proposed in the paper. Combined with feedback control in real time, the neural network is employed to identify the nonlinear system online and to produce the feed-forward actions of iterative learning control algorithm to realize continuous trajectory tracking task for robot. Simulation results demonstrate that the algorithm can not only overcome uncertainties and external disturbances, but also meet the trajectory command with few iterative learning and network training, and thus possess better robustness and control performance.

Abstract:Iterative learning control is an effective approach to the control of processes that are repetitive in nature. An open-closed-loop PI-type iterative learning control scheme for the precise tracking control of a class of discrete nonlinear time-varying systems over a finite time interval is presented. The scheme updates control input with tracking errors of both current and last iterations simultaneously. Sufficient and necessary conditions which guarantee the convergence of the scheme are given and then proved with inductive method. Finally, the conditions are verified with simulation results.

Abstract:A nonaffine discrete-time system represented by the nonlinear autoregressive moving average with eXogenous input (NARMAX) representation with unknown nonlinear system dynamics is considered. An equivalent affinelike representation in terms of the tracking error dynamics is first obtained from the original nonaffine nonlinear discrete-time system so that reinforcement-learning-based near-optimal neural network (NN) controller can be developed. The control scheme consists of two linearly parameterized NNs. One NN is designated as the critic NN, which approximates a predefined long-term cost function, and an action NN is employed to derive a near-optimal control signal for the system to track a desired trajectory while minimizing the cost function simultaneously. The NN weights are tuned online. By using the standard Lyapunov approach, the stability of the closed-loop system is shown. The net result is a supervised actor-critic NN controller scheme which can be applied to a general nonaffine nonlinear discrete-time system without needing the affinelike representation. Simulation results demonstrate satisfactory performance of the controller.

Abstract:SummaryA new robust adaptive iterative learning control approach is proposed for discrete‐time nonlinear systems with both parametric and nonparametric uncertainties. By virtue of a well‐designed dead‐zone function, the learning of the parametric and nonparametric uncertainties can be performed concurrently. Rigorous Lyapunov function‐based analysis ensures that the effect of system uncertainties can be fully compensated, and the tracking error will converge to zero asymptotically in the iteration domain, even under random initial conditions and iteration‐varying reference trajectories. Abstract:In this paper, the problem of adaptive iterative learning control using neural networks is addressed by an error tracking approach for systems with arbitrary initial states. The desired error trajectory is pre-specified at the design stage. It is shown that the tracking error is ensured to converge to an adjustable neighborhood of a pre-specified one. The performance improvement is made possible in case of non-zero approximation error, due to the use of an appropriate Lyapunov functional adopted in the design.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel neural-network iterative learning control (IL, ILC) protocol for generalized regression neural networks (GRNN) based on global space–time is proposed for a class of unknown nonlinear discrete-time systems. The proposed controller is an ideal controller with multidimensional gain based on the global space–time in the iteration domain. The control gain is automatically learned by updating the matrix of the GRNN with correction factors based on the accumulation of global system input and output (I/O) data along the iteration axis. By a rigorous theoretical analysis, properties that can drive the tracking error to be uniformly bounded in the iteration axis are established for the proposed control protocol with the goal of achieving optimal control. The effectiveness and adaptability of the proposed control protocol have been validated through numerical simulations and two comparative examples on general high-frequency signal tracking.

Abstract:In this work, a novel adaptive event-trigered iterative learning control (ILC) scheme is designed for discrete-time nonlinear systems with time-varying parameters and random initial states. The reference trajectory can be iteration-invariant or iteration-varying. The control input is updated when the event-triggering condition is satisfied, which reduces the action time of controller and consequently the unnecessary waste of communication resource. An adaptive event-triggering condition parameter is designed to improve the efficiency of the event generator. Moreover, the parameter updating law of adaptive iterative learning controller is designed based on the recursive least squares algorithm. With the proposed adaptive ILC with event-triggered mechanism, the learning convergence along the iteration axis is guaranteed and communication burden is reduced. Finally, rigorous theoretical analysis under Lyapunov theory and illustrative examples are given to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method.

Abstract:A new adaptive iterative learning control scheme is proposed for complex dynamical networks with repetitive operation over a fixed time interval. By designing difference type updating laws for unknown time-varying parameters and coupling strength, the state of each node in complex dynamical networks can track the reference signal. By constructing a composite energy function, a sufficient condition of the convergence of tracking error sequence is achieved in the iteration domain. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the designed method.

Abstract:This study focuses on state-feedback and output-feedback neural learning control problems for discrete-time nonlinear systems in the pure-feedback form. First, an extended result for the exponential stability for a class of discrete-time linear time-varying (LTV) systems with n-step delays is proposed to verify the exponential convergence of estimated weights. Subsequently, both state-feedback and output-feedback adaptive neural network (NN) controllers are constructed by combining the classical n-step and n-step input-output predictors. After ensuring convergence of the system output to a recurrent reference signal, the radial basis function subvector of NN is verified to satisfy the persistent exciting condition using the system state equation and the implicit function theorem. By combining the extended stability corollary of an LTV system, the estimated weights are verified to exponentially converge to their optimal values. By constructing "learning rules" and using a "mod" function, the estimated weights with a convergent sequence are synthetically represented and stored as the experience knowledge, which is reused to construct neural learning controllers. The proposed neural learning controllers not only accomplish similar control tasks but also reduce the burden of online computation compared with the conventional adaptive NN controllers. Finally, simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented schemes.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the iterative learning control, and utilizes the theory of iterative learning control to study using PID open-loop iterative learning control algorithm to track the ordered curves for a class of the nonlinear problems which are exist actually in some control systems. According to the theory of full trace in the control of practical tracking, these experiments fully track a nonlinear system. With the increasing number of iterations, the output signal is closer to the expected signal. Finally we concluded that the PID open-loop iterative learning control algorithm is applied to such issues by analyzing the process of the simulation and the results of the simulation. ©2010 IEEE.
