Abstract:Globalization, internationalization, communication, and new technologies are restructuring our world, and, especially during the last three decades, the east coast regions of China have developed very fast. The growing interconnection between places in the world has indeed resulted in more interaction between the metropolitan and eastern regions of China and economically advanced cities and regions of the world. This trend of globalization has become the most important factor influencing the prospects for urban and regional development. Recently, the globalization process has had some impact on economic, social, and cultural issues. This article focuses on the challenges in China's Northwest Islamic Culture Area (CNICA), and especially on the interactions between Islamic culture and economic development / environmental change.
