Abstract:A stepwise simulation method was used to accurately and efficiently design a pressure-compensating emitter.CAD models,Fluent and Ansys,were used to simulate the hydraulic performance of the pressure-compensating emitters.A 12-mm diameter cylindrical pressure-compensating emitter was designed with the pressure-flow curve predicted numerically.The emitter was then manufactured using rapid prototyping manufacturing with hydraulic tests to measure the pressure-flow curve for the emitter.Comparison of the practical pressure-flow curve with the predicted one shows that they agree very well within the pressure range from 50 kPa to 150 kPa,but differ over 150 kPa.
