Analysis on the Level of Plasma Glucose and Prevalence of Diabetes among Residents of Jiangsu Province

Abstract:Objective:To know the level of plasma glucose and prevalence of diabetes in rural and urban residents of Jiangsu province.Methods:Using Multi-stage Cluster sampling to collect data within the 14 DSPs.A total of 4 318 residents whose age ranged from 15 to 69 years were enrolled this survey.Interview-administrated questionnaire and Roche ACUU-CHEK Active(code 552) were used to collect statistical information and fasting plasma glucose.Results:The average level of plasma glucose in Jiangsu province was 5.12 mmol/L,prevalence of diabetes and impaired fasting glucose were 8.42% and 10.32% respectively.Among diabetes patients,33.14% has been diagnosed before,27.20% has taken drug treatment and 7.90% has controlled diabetes.Conclusion:The level of plasma glucose,prevalence of diabetes and IFG have increased a lot in the past few years in Jiangsu province,however,there is no significant improvement in the disease control.Overall,the work of diabetes control and prevention should be strengthened.
