Abstract:Two new polyoxomolybdate compounds, namely [Cu-2(II)(HL)(3)](2) [Mo8O26]center dot(H2O)(4) and (1) and [Ni-II(HL)(3)](2)(Mo8O26]center dot(H2O)(3) (HL=3-{2-Pyridyl)pyrazole), were designed and synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that compound 1 consists of one beta-Mo8O264- cluster and a Cu-2 dimer which is built from two Cu(II) ions linked by three 3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole ligands. Compound 2 is generated by two kinds of polyoxomolybdate clusters of alpha-[Mo8O26](4-) and beta-[Mo8O26](4-). In complexes 1 and 2, the multi-dimensional frameworks are constructed with the help of hydrogen-bonding links between the terminaloxygen atoms of [Mo8O26](4-), water molecules, and 3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole ligands. Abstract:Two new compounds, [Cu(imi)2(H2O)4][Himi]2[(imi)2Mo8O26] (1) and [Himi]3[H3O][SiMo12O40]·H2O (2) (imi=imidazole), have been synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray analysis, IR spectra and elemental analysis. Compound 1 consists of an imidazole-coordinated octamolybdate anion, two protonated imidazole cations and one imidazole and water coordinating copper cation per unit cell. Compound 2 is built up of the Keggin-type [SiMo12O40]4− anions, protonated imidazole cations, hydroxonium ions and lattice water molecules. Both compounds 1 and 2 are three-dimensional frameworks held together by complex hydrogen bonding.

Abstract:Two coordination polymers based on 4-[(8-hydroxy-5-quinolinyl)azo]-benzenesulfonic acid (H2L), namely [CuL(en)]center dot 0.5H(2)O (1) and [CuL2][Cu(en)(2)]center dot 2H(2)O (2) (en =ethylenediamine) have been solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared (IR) spectra, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffractions (PXRD) and therrnogravimetric analysis (TGA). Compounds 1 and 2 are connected into three-dimensional (3D) supramolecular networks by both hydrogen bonding and pi center dot center dot center dot pi interactions. Abstract:Two new complexes {(BIQPM)2[Cu4I8]·DMF}n (1) and {(BIQPM)[Cu2(SCN)4]}n (2) [BIQPM = 1,1′Bis(isoquinoline)-1,4-Phenyldimethylenyl] have been synthesized via the self-assembly reaction in solution. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis shows compound 1 is a tetranuclear oligomer and 2 is a 1D chain. Compound 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic system with space group C2/m; Compound 2 crystallizes in the triclinic system with space group P-1. It is the H-bonds and electrostatic interactions between the organic counteractions and inorganic moieties that do the contribution to the crystal packing. These compounds have been further characterized by IR spectroscopy and thermostability.

Abstract:Cluster polymers {[MoOS3Cu3(CN)(py)(3)]. 0.5C(6)H(6)}(n) 1 and [WOS3Cu3(CN)(py)(4)](n) 2 were synthesized by the reaction of (NH4)(2)MO2S2 (M = Mo, W) and CuCN with py. Their structures have been characterized by X-ray diffraction. Both of them show neutral nest-shaped structural units, and every structural unit forms two Cu1-N1-C1-Cu3 bridges with two other structural units leading to infinite one-dimensional polymers. In every unit cell of {[MoOS3Cu3(CN)(py)(3)]. 0.5C(6)H(6)}(n) there are four [MoOS3Cu3(CN)(py)(3)] structural units and two benzene molecules, and the four structural units are from four independent linear polymer molecules which are parallel. In every unit cell of polymer 2, there are four [WOS3Cu3(CN)(py)(4)] structural units too, but they are only from two parallel linear polymer molecules. Polymer 1 shows good nonlinear optical (NLO) absorptive and NLO refractive properties, whereas strong NLO properties of polymer 2 are not observed.

Abstract:Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are coordination polymers with potential voids constructed by organic ligands and metal ions. In this work, we employed a semi-rigid polycarboxylic acid ligand 5-(4-carboxyphenoxy)methyl)benzene-1-thio-3-dicarboxylic acid (H3L) with the flexible "–CH2-O-" group between the two phenyl groups to construct a new Cu(II)-MOF {[Cu2L(OH)]·DMF}n (1). The structure analysis reveals that the adjacent Cu(II) cations are bridged by oxygens from OH– anion and carboxy group to get a one dimensional infinite rod-shaped secondary building unit (SBU). Furthermore, compound 1 exhibits an intriguing three-dimensional MOF based on infinite rod-shaped SBUs and L3-. PXRD result shows compound 1 is still stable after placed in air for three months. The variable-temperature magnetic studies indicate antiferromagnetic behaviors of 1.

Abstract:Two new copper complexes, [Cu(cbdc)(phen)(H2O)]center dot 2H(2)O (1)and[CU2(cbdc)(phen)(2)(H2O)(2)](CIo(4))(2)-H2O (2) (cbdc=1,1-cyclobutanedicarboxylate and phen=1,10-phenanthroline), were synthesized by reaction of cbdc with CU(CI04)2 and phen in ethanol aqueous solution. Complex 1 crystallizes in monoclinic system with space group 3 P2(1)/c and a=0.9428(4) mn, b=1.2183(5) nm, c=1.6265(7) nm, ss=102.418(5)degrees, V=1.8246(13) nm, Z=4, R=0.0445, wR(2)=0.0947. The structure of 1 is discretely mononuclear, which is packed by pi(...)pi interaction forming a 3D supramolecular structure where Cu(H) ion is five-coordinated and has square-pyramidal coordination geometry. Its thermal decomposition procedure detail was studied by thermal analysis TG-DSC. Complex 2 belongs to monoclinic system with space group P2(1)/c and a=0.8897(3) nm, b=1.9130(8) nm, c=1.9936(8) nm, P=99.04(2)degrees ,V=3.351(2) nm(3), Z=4, R=0.0540, wR(2)=0.1102. The structure of 2 is a discrete binucleus, where Cu(1) is four-coordinated by phen and cbdc in a square-planar geometry while Cu(2) is five-coordinated by phen, one O of cbdc and two H2O, which can be best described as distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. Cu(1) and Cu(2) are linked by carboxytic group of cbdc in a bidentate bridging fashion. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibilities of 2 in 2--300 K showed that its magnetic behavior obeyed Curie law.

Abstract:Two new coordination polymers based on 4-[(8-hydroxy-5-quinolinyl)azo]-benzenesulfonic acid(H2L), {[CdL(H2O)2]·H2O} n (1) and {[CdL(en)]·EtOH} n (2)(en=ethylenediamine), were solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibit infinite 1D ladder-shaped chain structures, which are isostructural except that the two coordinating water molecules in compound 1 were replaced by one en molecule in compound 2 due to the use of different organic base. Compounds 1 and 2 were constructed into different supramolecular frameworks by hydrogen bonding and π…π stacking interactions. In addition, the fluorescent properties of compounds 1 and 2 were investigated. Furthermore, they were also investigated via IR spectral analysis, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction(PXRD) and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).

Abstract:Two hydrothermally synthesised 3D metal-coordination polymers, namely [Cu(isonicotinate)(nicotinate)], (1), with an 8-connected CsCl topology, and [Cu-2(mu(3)-OH)(isonicotinate)(2)(BDC)(0.5)](n) (2), with an unusual 8-connected 3(5).4(11).5(8).6(4) topology, demonstrate that highly connected SBUs can be employed in the construction of complicated frameworks. Abstract:This paper reports two new coordination polymers formed by carboxylate-substituted benzoimidazole and formate ligands: [Mn(L)·(HCO2)] n (1) and [Co(L)·(HCO2)] n (2) (L = benzoimidazol-1-yl-acetate). Complexes 1 and 2 are isomorphous and adopt a new 3,6-connected three-nodal topology showing interesting magnetic properties: spin canted antiferromagnetism for MnII complex 1, but simple antiferromagnetic coupling for CoII complex 2.

Abstract:Two novel coordination polymers [Zn(L)(N 3 ) 2 ] · H 2 O ( 1 ) and [Cu(L) 2 (Br) 2 ] · C 2 H 5 OH · 1.5H 2 O ( 2 ) have been synthesized and structurally characterized. The X-ray crystal structures reveal that 1 is constructed of an infinite 1D zigzag chain and 2 contains a 2D (4,4) coordination layer. The coordination counter anions N^ - _3 have a great impact on the structure of the coordination polymers with the flexible organic ligand L. 1 shows a strongly fluorescent emission. ESR and magnetic properties of the Cu(II) complex were also investigated.

Abstract:Two new coordination polymers, Cu(Hbsal)(2)(4,4'-bpy)(2) (1) and Cu(bsal)(4,4'-bpy).DMF (2), have been synthesized from 5-bromosalicylic acid (H(2)bsal) and the auxiliary ligand 4,4'-bipyridine (4,4'-bpy) through a slow diffusion method. Compound 1 is composed of parallel 1D linear chains, whereas compound 2 represents a non-interpenetrated 3D sod net which is constructed from left and right-handed helical chains alternately separated by 4,4'-bpy. The most interesting finding is that compound 1 can be irreversibly transformed into 2 in a crystal-to-crystal manner in the case that compound 1 is immersed in the DMF solvent. Particularly, the 1D-to-3D crystal-to-crystal structural transformation also incurs a drastic change in the magnetic properties of 1 and 2.

Abstract:Two novel organic-inorganic hybrid polyoxometalates, [Cu(2,2'-bpy)(2)](2)[(HmXMo10Mo2O40)-Mo-VI-O-V]center dot 2H(2)O (X = P, m = 11: X = Si, m = 22; 2,2'-bpy -ridine), have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. They are isostructural, possessing orthorhombic, and the parameters of unit cells for compound 1 are space group Pbca, a = 17.317(4) angstrom. b = 17.092(3) angstrom, c = 20.587(4) angstrom, V = 6445(2) angstrom(3), Z = 4; for compound 2 are space group Pcab, a = 17.181(3) angstrom b = 18.198(4) angstrom, c = 20.672(4) angstrom, V= 6463(2) angstrom(3), Z = 4. The two compounds show a layer framework constructed from Keggin-poly-oxoanion clusters and [Cu (2, 2'-bpy)(2)](2+) coordination polymer fragments via weak covalent interactions, resulting in a 3D network via supramolecular interactions.
