Abstract:In a digital terrestrial broadcasting environment, since the channel characteristic may be severely distorted due to multipath interference, there is a need for an equalizer to counteract the interference. The equalizer algorithm has to meet two performance requirements: fast convergence capability and low noise enhancement. This paper proposes a simple, fast and efficient channel estimate algorithm used for the equalizer. Simulation results prove that an equalizer with the proposed algorithm can combat multipath of 0 dB magnitude and low noise enhancement. The proposed algorithm has low hardware complexity, and has a prospective application in VSB receivers in digital television terrestrial broadcasting (DTTB).

Abstract:LMS,for its low complexity,is very popular and widely used in the field of adaptive signal processing,while is very slow in convergency.An adaptive channel equalizer based on variable step-size LMS(VSS LMS)algorithm is described in this paper.Simulation on the interative converging process and the processing of sine signal with noise shows that compared with LMS,VSS-LMS is of fairly better convergency performance.

Abstract:In this paper, Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm, which is originally used in time domain equalization (TDE), is combined with Single-carrier Frequency Domain Equalization (SC-FDE) technology. LMS algorithm is used to update the weights of adaptive frequency domain equalizer, so that the weights of frequency domain equalizer are adjusted according to channel characters. The simulation results show that the LMS algorithm is suitable for equalizers in frequency domain and could achieve good performance in equalization.

Abstract:This paper proposes a LMS adaptive equalizer for QAM demodulation signal.The equalizer has been designed using Least Mean Square Algorithm (LMS),composed of linear transversal filter and filter taps update module using training sequence.The proposed LMS adaptive equalizer can implement 16/64/256QAM demodulation.MATLAB/Simulink can be used to simulate the convergence rate and symbol error rate(SER) of LMS adaptive equalizer. Simulation result demonstrates that the proposed equalizer has a better performance for QAM signal transmitted through the nonideal channel.

Abstract:In order to overcome the problem of inter-symbol interference in signal transmission caused by the effect of non-linear group delay in high speed broadband satellite transmissions, a partially parallel two-stage two-mode CMA-LMS adaptive equalization with fast convergence speed and small stable error is proposed in this paper.By the CMA and the LMS algorithm, a two-stage hybrid two mode blind-or-not frequency domain equalization is set up.In addition, a FFT based fast partially parallel filter structure is adopted to implement the nonlinear group delay equalization in high speed broadband satellite transmission channel at the cost of trivial bandwidth occupation of a small amount training words.So it improves the efficiency of the signal spectrum, which enable it rather good application value.Simulation results indicate that the proposed equalization algorithm possesses good performance of approaching ideal equalization.Furthermore, a algorithm framework of a partially parallel structure is designed and analyzed with the complexity.Therefore, it can realize frequency domain equalization of the high speed and reliable non-linear satellite channel on condition that limited resources are available for the satellite communication implementation.

Abstract:Blind equalization, using convergence rate and residual mean square error (MSE) as a main performance criterion, is a topic problem in digital communications. Constant modulus algorithm (CMA) with many advantages is a popular blind equalization algorithm, but its slower convergence rate and higher residual MSE are disadvantages for equalizing the time varying multipath fading wireless channels. Three Bussgang family blind equalization algorithms applied to wireless channel equalization are discussed comparably, they are CMA, normalized constant modulus algorithm (NCMA), and super-exponential iterative (SEI) algorithm. Performance of the three algorithms is analyzed by the computer simulation. The simulation results show that the convergence rate of the SEI algorithm is the fastest of all, then is the NCMA, and the CMA is the lowest one. Therefore the performance of the SEI algorithm is prior to that of the NCMA and CMA. The conclusion proposed in this paper has important guiding significance and application value in engineering practice.

Abstract:In order to reduce the bit error rate and improve the transmission performance of the Visible Light Communication (VLC)system,the channel equalization technology is studied in this paper.The channel model of the indoor VLC system is established.The direct impulse response and reflected impulse response of the channel are also analyzed.A new variable-step-size Least Mean Square (LMS)algorithm is used to compensate the Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI)induced by multi-path effects.The experimental results show that the proposed LMS algorithm has faster convergence rate,which can achieve lower bit error rate when the system is stabilized.The adaptive equalizer has a better tracking performance on time-varying channel and system steady-state error is also reduced.

Abstract:This paper proposes and investigates a new adaptive approach to spatiotemporal equalization for MIMO (multiinput multioutput) frequency-selective channels. We consider an adaptive Laguerre matrix equalizer which applies an optimal method to select the pole and a fast RLS algorithm. The proposed solution is tested by simulating the MIMO system and compared with the conventional equalization schemes. The simulation results show that the adaptive Laguerre equalization achieves much better performance over the adaptive linear equalization scheme and better stability than the decision-feedback equalization solution.

Abstract:In the past years digital transmission systems impose the application of channel equalizers with short training time and high tracking rate. These requirements turn our attention to adaptive algorithms, which con(verge) rapidly. From this point of view the best choice is the recursive least squares (RLS) equalizer. Unfortunately this equalizer has high computational complexity and stability problems. Therefore it is worth investiga(ting) a good alternative of the classic RLS equalizer. This paper present such a channel equalizer based on adaptive filtering with averaging (AFA). The main advantages of AFA equalizer could be summarized as follows. It has high convergence rate comparable to that of the RLS equalizer and at the same time low computational complexity.

Abstract:Wireless communication systems generally endure severe fading and interference caused by the time-dispersive channel. Major transmission distortion is produced by channel multipath propagation and overlap of subsequent symbols. To counteract channel response, equalization techniques are employed to operate on channel output and recover transmitted signal at the receiver. This work investigates equalization of channels undergoing alpha-mu fading distribution, which models multipath propagation in millimeter Wave (mmWave) and sub-Terahertz (sub-THz) frequencies bands. Three equalization algorithms, which are non-adaptive Zero-Forcing (ZF), adaptive Least-Mean-Square (LMS) and adaptive Recursive-Least-Square (RLS) are implemented and addressed in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER), Convergence speed and implementation complexity. Monte Carlo simulations are then carried out to compare algorithms and assess performance by varying multiple parameters such as training lengths, channel order, equalization taps and diverse fading conditions.

Abstract:The recently proposed normalized-adaptive-minimum-symbols-error-rate (NAMSER) algorithm was appeared to converge faster than the conventional AMSER algorithm, at the same time outperformed the optimal MMSE algorithm 0. In this study we provide a solution to simplify the NAMSER algorithm. First, we use a piecewise linear function to approximate the nonlinear error indicator function in the NAMSER algorithm. Such an approximation assures the NAMSER algorithm have the similar complexity with the NLMS algorithm. Then the linear-approximated NAMSER algorithm is compared with the NLMS algorithm in the application scenario of channel equalization. Extensive simulations show that the linear-approximated NAMSER algorithm significantly outperforms the NLMS algorithm, both in convergence rate and steady-state symbol error rate.

Abstract:Underwater acoustic (UWA) channel is a complex time-space- and frequency-variant channel, which is one of the most difficult wireless communication channels so far. Coherent communication has become a hotspot in high speed underwater acoustic communication. To achieve the low bit error rate and high data transmission rate, the channel equalization technique must be introduced for coherent underwater acoustic communication system, such as QPSK, OFDM and so on. The variable step-size LMS adaptive equalization algorithm reduces the steady-state error while increasing the convergence rate, and is commonly used in the underwater acoustic channel equalization. In this paper, a new variable step-size LMS adaptive equalization algorithm is proposed. The algorithm improves the convergence performance by establishing the nonlinear function model of step-size and error. In this paper, the key parameter selection of the algorithm is analyzed and the reasonable setting is given. The simulation results in Matlab show that the algorithm has a great improvement in the convergence rate, and it is suitable for the fast time - variant underwater acoustic channel.
