Abstract:Over the past decade, deep convolutional neural networks (DCNN) have been widely adopted for medical image classification and some of them have achieved the diagnostic outcomes comparable or even superior to those of dermatologists. However, broad implementation of DCNN does not fully utilized valuable medical prior knowledge for semantic reasoning to guide the network, which leads to a lack of understanding of the correlation between lesion classes across the medical dataset. In this paper, based on the smooth assumption that similar lesion features tend to be grouped into close lesion categories, we propose a Graph-based pathological feature Enhancement structure and integrate Variance regularization into Label Distribution Learning to construct GEVLDL framework. This framework makes use of multiple images in a dataset to classify a single image, allowing the data in the dataset to be utilized multiple times. Furthermore, learning from the different degrees of contribution of all labels enables the full exploitation of the disease lesion relationship. The framework is verified on the benchmark skin diseases dataset ACNE04. Experiments demonstrate that our proposed method performs favorably against state-of-the-art methods.
