Abstract:
Urban heat islands (UHI) and global climate change pose serious threats to human health, rendering health risk appraisal of urban spaces as well as the planning and improvement of green spaces important issues. Meteorological sites, satellite images, electronic maps, questionnaire survey data, statistical yearbook, ArcGIS spatial analysis technology, MATLAB matrix analysis technology, remote sensing inversion, and ground feature extraction technology were used in this study to evaluate the impacts of changes in the urban thermal environment on the health of the residents in Beijing. A genetic algorithm was used to optimize the simulation of a green space; based on this algorithm, different measures were proposed to achieve improved planning. The results show that in areas where Beijing's UHI has a greater impact on respiratory diseases, cases of cardiovascular diseases and emotional health issues tend to be mainly concentrated in the central area south of the North Second Ring Road. Furthermore, Low-level affected areas are highly connected and clustered, while the high-level affected areas are distributed in clusters. The intelligent optimization simulation of the green space shows that it exhibits a spatial distribution potential of a green wedge and a cooling corridor. Based on a health risk impact assessment, healthy climate zone analysis, and green space optimization simulation, measures such as cooling nodes, urban blue axes, green rings, pergolas, and ventilation corridors are proposed to improve the comfort of urban living environments as well as reduce risks associated with health and environment.
