Abstract:We consider the problem of detection of sparse stochastic signals with a distributed sensor network. Multiple sensors in the network are assumed to observe sparse signals, which share the joint sparsity pattern. The Bernoulli-Gaussian (BG) distribution with sparsity-enforcing capability is imposed on the sparse signals. The sparsity degree in the BG model is positive and close to zero in the presence of the sparse signals and is zero in the absence of the signals. Motivated by this, the problem of detection of the sparse signals with a distributed sensor network is formulated as the problem of close and one-sided hypothesis testing on the sparsity degree. For this problem, we propose a detector based on the locally most powerful test (LMPT) to decide on the presence or absence of sparse signals with sensor networks. The proposed LMPT detector does not require signal recovery, which alleviates the complexity of the detection system in sensor networks. Simulation results illustrate the performance of the proposed LMPT detector and corroborate our theoretical analysis. Simulation results also show that, compared to the detector based on matching pursuit, the proposed LMPT detector significantly reduces the computational burden without noticeable performance loss.

Abstract:This paper addresses the problem of sparse signal detection based on compressive sensing (CS) framework. In order to reduce the computational complexity of detection, we propose a sparse compressive detection approach by substituting sparse random projection matrix for conventional dense matrix, and develop a theoretical model that exactly characterizes the relationship of the detection probability with the number of measurements, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), as well as the degree of sparsity. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed detector is comparable to the conventional CS detector in which Gaussian dense projections are employed.

Abstract:In this paper, distributed detection of sparse stochastic signals with one-bit measurements is studied. We assume that both the noise and the dominant elements in sparse signals follow the generalized Gaussian (GG) distribution. Due to constrained bandwidth/energy in sensor networks, the local sensors send binary measurements instead of analog data to the fusion center. First, we propose the locally most powerful test (LMPT) detector based on one-bit measurements for distributed detection of sparse signals. Then, we analytically derive near-optimal one-bit quantizers at the local sensor nodes using the log-concave approximation of the efficacy. Simulation results corroborate our theoretical analysis and show that, the proposed one-bit LMPT detector with analytically obtained one-bit quantizers provides detection performance which is comparable to that with numerically obtained optimal quantizers in the GG case.

Abstract:In this paper,a new algorithm is proposed to detect weak signal based on Compressive Sensing (CS) and the sparse feature of the signal.When the sparse signal is projected in a special dictionary,we can obtain the sparse vector whose positions of non-zero elements are fixed.When the Gaussian white noise is projected in a dictionary,the weight vector whose positions of non-zero elements presents the characteristics of uniform distribution.In our study,the proposed method can accomplish the accumulation of weak signal in the sparse domain with the characteristics of the sparse representation mentioned above.The threshold is obtained by calculating the correlation of the positions non-zero elements of the Gauss white noise and the positions of non-zero elements of the signal to finish detecting the target signal.Finally,the simulations verify the proposed algorithm can achieve detecting the signal precisely with a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of-15 dB.

Abstract:Without reconstructing the signal themselves, signal detection could be solved by detection algorithm, which directly processes sampling value obtained from compressive sensing signal. In current detection algorithm, as the judgment criterion, the threshold depends on Monte Carlo simulations, which takes too much time, affecting detection efficiency. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an algorithm to detect known signal in noise. First, get the sparse coefficients position information of to-be-detected signal in Transform domain. Then, acquire the position information of interested signal based on prior information. Finally, use the correlation of them as judgment criterion to complete detection. Simulation shows that under the same circumstances, compared with traditional algorithm, the algorithm this paper introduced can complete detection rapidly without reducing success rate.

Abstract:This paper considers the problem of compressive detection of sparse signals without signal reconstruction. In the compressed detection model, we present the design of measurement matrix by using the sparsity of a signal, and prove that the variances of the compressive measurements follow two different Gaussian distributions under the binary hypothesis testing. A single measurement vector (SMV) detector is proposed when the knowledge of noise variance is available. Nevertheless, the theoretical analysis shows that the SMV detector has an inferior perfornance in the low signal-noise-ratio regime. To address this situation, the SMV model is extended to the multiple measurement vectors (MMV) model. In the scenario of unknown noise (UN) variance, we propose the UN-MMV detector which requires less prior knowledge. Moreover, the closed-form expressions for the probabilities of false alarm and detection of each detector are derived, respectively. Abstract:In order to improve the computation speed, the topic of compressive sensing (CS) has been widely applied in signal processing domain. In this paper, we proposed a novel algorithm to study the problem of signal detection from the compressive measurements. The proposed method requires no signal reconstruction. When the signal is projected in the sparse domain, we can obtain the sparse vector firstly. Then, we design a new random measurement matrix from a joint random Gaussian matrix and dictionary basis matrix. The proposed detector processes the compressive measurements directly. The threshold is designed according to the different distribution of measurements. Finally, the detector achieves deciding on the presence/absence of the signal. Computer simulations show that the proposed detector can achieve detecting the compressed signal with a high probability whose performance is better than others compressive detection methods. The proposed algorithm can work in low signal-noise-ratio (SNR), which has good performance and well application.

Abstract:Compressed sensing (CS) is a new paradigm for acquiring sparse and compressible signals which can be approximated using much less information than their nominal dimension would suggest. In order to recover a signal from its compressive measurements, the conventional CS theory seeks the sparsest signal that agrees with the measurements via a great many algorithms, which usually solve merely an approximation of the l 0 norm minimization. In this paper, CS has been considered from a new perspective. We equivalently transform the l 0 norm minimization into a concave continuous piecewise linear programming based on the prior knowledge of sparsity, and propose a novel global optimization algorithm for it based on a sophisticated detour strategy and the γ valid cut theory. Numerical experiments demonstrate that our algorithm improves the best known number of measurements in the literature, relaxes the restrictions of the sensing matrix to some extent, and performs robustly in the noisy scenarios.

Abstract:Sparsity regularized least squares are very popular for the solution of the underdetermined linear inverse problem. One of the recent progress is that structural information is incorporated to the sparse signal recovery for compressed sensing. Sparse group signal model, which is also called block-sparse signal, is one example in this way. In this paper, the internal structure of each group is further defined to get the globally sparse and locally dense group signal model. It assumes that most of the entries in the active groups are nonzero. To estimate this newly defined signal, minimization of the ℓ1 norm of the total variation is incorporated to the group Lasso which is the combination of a sparsity constraint and a data fitting constraint. The newly proposed optimization model is called globally sparse and locally dense group Lasso. The added total variation based constraint can encourage local dense distribution in each group. Theoretical analysis is performed to give a class of theoretical sufficient conditions to guarantee successful recovery. Simulations demonstrate the proposed method׳s performance gains against Lasso and group Lasso.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider distributed detection of sparse stochastic signals with quantized measurements. Assume that both the noise and the dominant elements in sparse signals follow the generalized Gaussian (GG) distribution. Since the communication bandwidth in sensor networks is limited, the local sensors send quantized measurements instead of analog data to the fusion center. First, we propose the locally most powerful test (LMPT) detector based on quantized measurements for distributed detection of sparse signals with the GG distribution. Then, the local quantizers are designed by maximizing the efficacy of the proposed quantized LMPT detector. In particular, we obtain the near-optimal closed-form solutions of 1-bit quantizers at the local sensors using the log-concave approximation of efficacy. Multilevel quantizers at the local sensors are numerically obtained using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. The asymptotic relative efficiency (ARE) is derived analytically to measure the performance loss of the proposed LMPT detector caused by quantization of local measurements. Simulation results corroborate our theoretical analysis of the proposed quantized LMPT detector.

Abstract:Abstract Reducing the cost of seismic exploration is a long-standing problem. Compressive sensing (CS) provides a new routine for recovering signals when the seismic acquisition is under the criteria of Nyquist theory. The basic assumptions of CS are: (1) the signal is sparse under a certain transform, and (2) the acquisition or measurement is random in a certain way. The ratio of compressive samplings to Nyquist samplings is determined by the sparsity of the signal under random measurements. Sparsity has been introduced to seismic exploration from three sources: (1) borrowing from image processing, (2) training from seismic data, and (3) special design for seismic data. We review the sparse transforms used in seismic data acquisition and processing under the framework of CS and then discuss a new way of designing sparse transforms.

Abstract:We study the problem of jointly sparse support recovery with 1-bit compressive measurements in a sensor network. Sensors are assumed to observe sparse signals having the same but unknown sparse support. Each sensor quantizes its measurement vector element-wise to 1-bit and transmits the quantized observations to a fusion center. We develop a computationally tractable support recovery algorithm which minimizes a cost function defined in terms of the likelihood function and the $l_{1,\infty}$ norm. We observe that even with noisy 1-bit measurements, jointly sparse support can be recovered accurately with multiple sensors each collecting only a small number of measurements.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the compressive sensing (CS) problem in the presence of noise. The problem is to recover a K-sparse signal s ∈ ℝ n from noisy linear measurements y = As + w. We propose a fast recovery algorithm that can reconstruct any K-sparse signal s with time complexity that grows linearly in K and sublinearly in n. Specifically, with high probability, our algorithm is able to recover an arbitrarily large fraction of the support of the sparse signal using Θ(K log(n) log log(n)) samples and Θ(K log 1+r (n)) computational cost, where r > 0 is an arbitrarily small constant. The sample and time complexities are near order-optimal. Further, our algorithm is able to recover the exact support with Θ(K log(K) log(n) log log(n)) measurements and time complexity of Θ(K log(K) log 1+r (n)). With a mild technical assumption on the existence of a code with universal decoding algorithm and small decoding complexity, our algorithm can achieve Θ(K log(n)) sample and time complexities for the large fraction recovery, and furthermore, Θ(K log(K) log(n)) sample and time complexities for the full support recovery. The design of measurements and the recovery algorithm are based on sparse graph codes. We also justify our theoretical results with numerical experiments.

Abstract:Compressive sensing/compressive sampling(CS) is a novel information theory proposed recently.CS provides a new sampling theory to reduce data acquisition,which says that sparse or compressible signals can be exactly reconstructed from highly incomplete random sets of measurements.CS broke through the restrictions of the Shannon theorem on the sampling frequency,which can use fewer sampling resources,higher sampling rate and lower hardware and software complexity to obtain the required measurements.CS has been used widely in many fields including digital cameras,medical imaging,remote sensing,seismic exploration,multimedia hybrid coding,communications and structural health monitoring.This article firstly summarizes some key issues in CS,and then discusses the development process of the optimization algorithms in CS from the sparsity constraints to low-rank constraints.Lastly,several related applications of CS in remote sensing,seismic exploration are reviewed.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the problem of distributed detection of sparse signals with a sensor network. Due to practical constraints on communication bandwidth and computational capacity, detection of sparse signals in a distributed manner is more efficient than centralized processing in terms of communication and computation. We develop a greedy algorithm named distributed subspace pursuit (DSP) for distributed detection of sparse signals. In the proposed approach, each node computes an estimate for the sparse support iteratively using the subspace pursuit (SP) algorithm and transmits a condensed message to a fusion center during each iteration to compute a decision statistic. Experimental results show that reliable detection of sparse signals can be obtained by the proposed approach with a very small number of iterations per node. We further demonstrate the superiority of our algorithms to the most related sparsity-driven methods.

Abstract:Compressive sensing (CS)is based on random sampling and sparsity,which bypasses a limitation of the Nyquist-Shan-non sampling theorem.CS enables the reconstruction of signals from incomplete measurements significantly below the Shannon sampling rate.In this paper,we review the theory of CS and its applications in seismic data acquisition,processing,imaging,and in-version.Three key components for the application of CS are random acquisition (including random distribution of shot and detector points),sparse representation of signals,and fast algorithm for optimal reconstruction with sparse constraints.The percentage of data required for reconstructing targets decreases with increasing dimensions involved.The paper also highlights the potential of combining compressed sensing with deep learning.

Abstract:This paper discusses compressive sensing with digital sparse signals. The motivation is that most existing sparse signal recovery algorithms, like matching pursuit, convex relaxation and Bayesian framework, do not fully exploit the digital nature of signals when dealing with digital sparse signals, which result in certain performance losses. In this paper, we solve this problem via a permutation-based multi-dimensional sensing matrix and an iterative recovery algorithm with maximum likelihood (ML) local detectors. The sensing matrix considered consists of several sub-matrices, each composed of a random permutation matrix and a block-diagonal matrix. The measurements generated from the same permutation matrix are referred to as a dimension. The block-diagonal matrices allow the use of the low-complexity ML detector in each dimension, which best utilizes the digital nature of signals. The multi-dimensional structure of the sensing matrix enables information exchange between dimensions through an iterative process to achieve a near global-optimal estimation. Numerical results are used to show the rate-distortion performance of the proposed technique. It is shown that it can achieve much better rate-distortion than the existing approaches based on convex relaxation and Bayesian framework with digital source signals.

Abstract:Signal recovery is one of the key techniques of Compressive sensing (CS). It reconstructs the original signal from the linear sub-Nyquist measurements. Classical methods exploit the sparsity in one domain to formulate the L0 norm optimization. Recent investigation shows that some signals are sparse in multiple domains. To further improve the signal reconstruction performance, we can exploit this multi-sparsity to generate a new convex programming model. The latter is formulated with multiple sparsity constraints in multiple domains and the linear measurement fitting constraint. It improves signal recovery performance by additional a priori information. Since some EMG signals exhibit sparsity both in time and frequency domains, we take them as example in numerical experiments. Results show that the newly proposed method achieves better performance for multi-sparse signals.

Abstract:Compressed sensing (CS) has achieved great success in single noise removal. However, it cannot restore the images contaminated with mixed noise efficiently. This paper introduces nonlocal similarity and cosparsity inspired by compressed sensing to overcome the difficulties in mixed noise removal, in which nonlocal similarity explores the signal sparsity from similar patches, and cosparsity assumes that the signal is sparse after a possibly redundant transform. Meanwhile, an adaptive scheme is designed to keep the balance between mixed noise removal and detail preservation based on local variance. Finally, IRLSM and RACoSaMP are adopted to solve the objective function. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is superior to conventional CS methods, like K-SVD and state-of-art method nonlocally centralized sparse representation (NCSR), in terms of both visual results and quantitative measures.
