Abstract:Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common malignant tumor, and glutamine is vital for tumor cells. The role of glutamine transporter SLC1A5 in tumor progression and transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) efficacy is under study. This research seeks to determine the impact of SLC1A5 expression on the prognosis and TACE efficacy of HCC and elucidate its mechanisms. Methods: SLC1A5 expression in HCC, correlation with patient outcomes, and response to TACE were studied in an open access liver cancer dataset and confirmed in our cohort. Additionally, the correlation between SLC1A5 expression and hypoxia, angiogenesis and immune infiltration was analyzed and verified by immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and transcriptome sequencing. Liver cancer cell lines with SLC1A5 expression knockdown or overexpression were constructed, and cell proliferation, colony formation, apoptosis, migration and drug sensitivity as well as in vivo xenograft tumor were measured. A gene set enrichment analysis was conducted to determine the signaling pathway influenced by SLC1A5, and a western blot analysis was performed to detect protein expression alterations. Results: SLC1A5 expression was higher in HCC tissue and associated with poor survival and TACE resistance. Hypoxia could stimulate the upregulation of glutamine transport, angiogenesis and SLC1A5 expression. The SLC1A5 expression was positively correlated with hypoxia and angiogenesis-related genes, immune checkpoint pathways, macrophage, Tregs, and other immunosuppressive cells infiltration. Knockdown of SLC1A5 decreased proliferation, colony formation, and migration, but increased apoptosis and increased sensitivity to chemotherapy drugs. Downregulation of SLC1A5 resulted in a decrease in Vimentin and N-cadherin expression, yet an increase in E-cadherin expression. Upregulation of SLC1A5 increased Vimentin and N-cadherin expression, while decreasing E-cadherin. Overexpression of β-catenin in SLC1A5-knockdown HCC cell lines could augment Vimentin and N-cadherin expression, suppress E-cadherin expression, and increase the migration and drug resistance. Conclusions: Elevated SLC1A5 was linked to TACE resistance and survival shortening in HCC patients. SLC1A5 was positively correlated with hypoxia, angiogenesis, and immunosuppression. SLC1A5 may mediate HCC cell migration and drug resistance via Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) pathway.

Abstract:Solute Carrier Family 1, member 5 (SLC1A5), also named as ASCT2, a major glutamine transporter, is highly expressed in various malignancies and plays a critical role in the transformation, growth and survival of cancer cells. The aim of this study was to assess the clinical significance of SLC1A5 in patients with clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). SLC1A5 expression was evaluated by immunohistochemistry on tissue microarrays. Kaplan-Meier method was conducted to compare survival curves. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression models were applied to assess the impact of prognostic factors on overall survival (OS). A nomogram was then constructed on the basis of the independent prognosticators identified on multivariate analysis. The predictive ability of the models was compared using Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. Our data indicated that high expression of SLC1A5 was significantly associated with advanced TNM stage, higher Fuhrman grade and shorter OS in ccRCC patients. Multivariate analysis confirmed that SLC1A5 was an independent prognosticator for OS. A nomogram integrating SLC1A5 and other independent prognosticators was constructed, which showed a better prognostic value for OS than TNM staging system. In conclusion, high SLC1A5 expression is an independent predictor of adverse clinical outcome in ccRCC patients after surgery.

Abstract:Cancer cells need to generate large amounts of glutathione (GSH) to buffer oxidative stress during tumor development. A rate-limiting step for GSH biosynthesis is cystine uptake via a cystine/glutamate antiporter Xc-. Xc- is a sodium-independent antiporter passively driven by concentration gradients from extracellular cystine and intracellular glutamate across the cell membrane. Increased uptake of cystine via Xc- in cancer cells increases the level of extracellular glutamate, which would subsequently restrain cystine uptake via Xc-. Cancer cells must therefore evolve a mechanism to overcome this negative feedback regulation. In this study, we report that glutamate transporters, in particular SLC1A1, are tightly intertwined with cystine uptake and GSH biosynthesis in lung cancer cells. Dysregulated SLC1A1, a sodium-dependent glutamate carrier, actively recycled extracellular glutamate into cells, which enhanced the efficiency of cystine uptake via Xc- and GSH biosynthesis as measured by stable isotope-assisted metabolomics. Conversely, depletion of glutamate transporter SLC1A1 increased extracellular glutamate, which inhibited cystine uptake, blocked GSH synthesis, and induced oxidative stress-mediated cell death or growth inhibition. Moreover, glutamate transporters were frequently upregulated in tissue samples of patients with non-small cell lung cancer. Taken together, active uptake of glutamate via SLC1A1 propels cystine uptake via Xc- for GSH biosynthesis in lung tumorigenesis. SIGNIFICANCE: Cellular GSH in cancer cells is not only determined by upregulated Xc- but also by dysregulated glutamate transporters, which provide additional targets for therapeutic intervention.

Abstract:Abstract Glutamine transporters play an important role in supporting increased tumor nutritional demands, often through overexpression of the solute carrier (SLC) family of membrane transporters. We aimed to understand the relationship of SLC transporter expression with pediatric brain tumor subtypes, lipid metabolism and their potential prognostic significance using data from the Pediatric Brain Tumor Atlas (PBTA). Using the expression of amino acid transporter genes, we found that elevated expression of glutamine transporters (SLC1A5, SLC7A5, SLC7A11, SLC38A5, SLC38A3) predicted shorter progression-free survival (PFS) in low-grade gliomas (LGGs) and poorer overall survival in pediatric ependymomas, high-grade gliomas (HGGs), and medulloblastomas. We focused specifically on SLC1A5 given the availability of imaging probes (18 F-Fluoroglutamine and 18F-Fluciclovine) for the corresponding amino acid transporter (ASCT2). Kaplan-Meier analysis found that higher expression of SLC1A5 was associated with shorter OS in ependymoma and medulloblastoma (p = 0.032 and p = 9.8e-4) and shorter PFS in LGG (p = 0.022). We found a universally higher expression of ATP citrate lyase (ACLY) and Acetyl-CoA carboxylase 1 (ACC) relative to normal brain tissue across all histologies. BRAF driven low grade gliomas and SHH-driven medulloblastomas showed differential expression of ACLY compared to other histologies. In addition, Acyl-CoA synthetase short chain family member 1 and 2 (ACSS1 and 2) were universally downregulated in pediatric gliomas, indicating that pediatric CNS tumors seem to rely on ACLY over ACSS for lipid synthesis. Gene set analysis showed higher expression and network rewiring of amino acid, lipid, and immune pathways in SLC1A5-high expressing clusters. SLC1A5 correlated negatively with pathways associated with lipid metabolic breakdown/degradation and correlated positively with pathways associated with lipid biosynthesis. In conclusion, our work demonstrates that glutamine transporters, particularly SLC1A5, represent compelling targets in pediatric brain tumors and can be exploited with theranostic approaches and amino-acid PET imaging.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:Colorectal signet-ring cell carcinoma (SRCC) is characterized as a rare subset of colorectal cancer with extremely poor prognosis and it is known to have low or negative 18F fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) uptake. To date, no in-depth study revealing the metabolic features of colorectal SRCC has been conducted for the lack of reliable study model. The aim of this study was to explore the distinct characteristics of energy utilization for colorectal SRCC based on organoid model.METHODS:Three organoids were derived from colorectal SRCC patients with low or negative FDG uptake and three organoids were derived from colorectal adenocarcinoma (AC) patients. Glucose, fatty acid and glutamine uptake assays were performed to reveal the different metabolic features of SRCC organoids. Immunohistochemistry (IHC), western blotting and real-time PCR were used to test the expression of critical transporters and enzymes of energy metabolism. Glutamine deprivation analyses were used to confirm the dependence of colorectal SRCC on glutamine.RESULTS:Glucose, fatty acid and glutamine uptake assays showed that only glutamine uptake was significantly increased in colorectal SRCC organoids compared with paired normal organoids. Comparing SRCC organoids with AC organoids indicated that glucose and fatty acid uptake were strikingly higher in AC organoids while glutamine uptake was notably lower. Gene expression analyses confirmed that the glutamine transporter SLC1A5 and glutaminolysis enzyme GPT2 were significantly unregulated in colorectal SRCC. Silencing of SLC1A5 or GPT2 could suppress the proliferation of SRCC organoids but attenuating the sensitivity of SRCC to glutamine deprivation. Administration of SLC1A5 or GPT2 inhibitor could prohibit SRCC growth and significantly enhance the sensitivity of SRCC to the treatment of 5-fu and L-OHP.CONCLUSIONS:This study highlights enhanced glutamine uptake and glutaminolysis as a metabolic feature of colorectal SRCC and a potential therapeutic target.
SLC7A11/xCT in Cancer: Biological Functions and Therapeutic Implications.

Abstract:Amino acid transporters mediate substrates across cellular membranes and their fine-tuned regulations are critical to cellular metabolism, growth, and death. As the functional component of system Xc-, which imports extracellular cystine with intracellular glutamate release at a ratio of 1:1, SLC7A11 has diverse functional roles in regulating many pathophysiological processes such as cellular redox homeostasis, ferroptosis, and drug resistance in cancer. Notably, accumulated evidence demonstrated that SLC7A11 is overexpressed in many types of cancers and is associated with patients' poor prognosis. As a result, SLC7A11 becomes a new potential target for cancer therapy. In this review, we first briefly introduce the structure and function of SLC7A11, then discuss its pathological role in cancer. We next summarize current available data of how SLC7A11 is subjected to fine regulations at multiple levels. We further describe the potential inhibitors of the SLC7A11 and their roles in human cancer cells. Finally, we propose novel insights for future perspectives on the modulation of SLC7A11, as well as possible targeted strategies for SLC7A11-based anti-cancer therapies.
Expression of Glucose Transporter in Non-Small Cell Lung Carcinoma and Its Clinical Significance

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the expression of glucose transporter (Glut)1, Glut3, and hypoxia inducible factor (HIF)-1 alpha in human non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC), and its clinical significance. METHODS:Specimens of cancer tissues and paracancerous lung tissues from 34 cases of NSCLC and 17 specimens of benign lung lesions were collected. The expressions of Glut1, Glut3, and HIF-1 alpha were detected with immunohistochemical staining, RT-PCR, and Western blot. RESULT:The relative mRNA expressions of Glut1 and HIF-1 alpha were 0.689 +/-0.245, 0.693 +/-0.248 in cancer tissues; and 0.338 +/-0.157, 0.351 +/-0.184 in paracancerous lung tissues (P <0.001); while those of Glut3 were 0.506 +/-0.246 in cancer tissues and 0.482 +/-0.238 in paracancerous tissues (P >0.05). The relative protein expressions of Glut1 and HIF-1 alpha were 0.582 +/-0.247, 0.525 +/-0.246 in cancer tissues and 0.288 +/-0.151, 0.261 +/-0.135 in paracancerous lung tissues (P<0.001), but the protein expressions of Glut3 were 0.551 +/-0.251 and 0.436 +/-0.224 respectively (P>0.05). Glut1 and HIF-1 alpha expressions were higher in poor differentiation group and in stage III group, than those in medium and well differentiation group and stage I and II group. Moreover, there was a significant correlation between the expression of Glut1 and HIF-1 alpha (r=0.854, P<0.01). CONCLUSION:Glut1 and HIF-1 alpha are highly expressed in NSCLC, and their expressions are associated with tumor differentiation and clinical stage.

Abstract:Background Solute carrier family 1 member 5 (SLC1A5) is a major glutamine transporter and plays a key role in tumor growth. The main objectives of this study were to visualize the prognostic landscape of SLC1A5 in multiple cancers and determine the relations between SLC1A5 expression and tumor immunity. Methods SLC1A5 expression and its effect on tumor prognosis were analyzed using multiple online tools Oncomine, Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis, PrognoScan, and Kaplan-Meier plotter with their own datasets as well as the data from The Cancer Genome Atlas. The correlations between SLC1A5 and tumor immune infiltrates were determined via TIMER. Results SLC1A5 expression was significantly higher in several types of cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), compared with corresponding normal tissues. High SLC1A5 expression correlated with poor overall survival and with disease-free survival related to alcohol consumption. Moreover, SLC1A5 expression correlated positively with the numbers of tumor-infiltrating B cells, CD4+ T and CD8+ T cells, macrophages, neutrophils, and dendritic cells in HCC and in lower-grade glioma (LGG). Also, SLC1A5 expression showed strong correlations with diverse immune marker sets in HCC and LGG, indicating its role in regulating tumor immunity. Conclusions SLC1A5 represents a useful prognostic biomarker in multiple cancers, and its expression correlates highly with tumor immune-cell infiltration, especially in HCC and LGG.
ABCG2 and SLC1A5 functionally interact to rewire metabolism and confer a survival advantage to cancer cells under oxidative stress

Abstract:ABCG2, a member of the ABC transporter superfamily, is overexpressed in many human tumors and has long been studied for its ability to export a variety of chemotherapeutic agents, thereby conferring a multidrug resistance (MDR) phenotype. However, several studies have shown that ABCG2 can also confer an MDR-independent survival advantage to tumor cells exposed to stress. While investigating the mechanism by which ABCG2 enhances survival in stressful milieus, we have identified a physical and functional interaction between ABCG2 and SLC1A5, a member of the solute transporter superfamily and the primary transporter of glutamine in cancer cells. This interaction was accompanied by increased glutamine uptake, increased glutaminolysis, and rewired cellular metabolism, as evidenced by an increase in key metabolic enzymes and alteration of glutamine-dependent metabolic pathways. Specifically, we observed an increase in glutamine metabolites shuttled to the TCA cycle, and an increase in the synthesis of glutathione, accompanied by a decrease in basal levels of reactive oxygen species and a marked increase in cell survival in the face of oxidative stress. Notably, the knockdown of SLC1A5 or depletion of exogenous glutamine diminished ABCG2-enhanced autophagy flux, further implicating this solute transporter in ABCG2-mediated cell survival. This is, to our knowledge, the first report of a functionally significant physical interaction between members of the two major transporter superfamilies. Moreover, these observations may underlie the protective role of ABCG2 in cancer cells under duress and suggest a novel role for ABCG2 in the regulation of metabolism in normal and diseased states.
Identification of SLC2A1 as a predictive biomarker for survival and response to immunotherapy in lung squamous cell carcinoma

Abstract:Background As one of the common subtypes of non-small lung cancer, lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) patients with advanced stage have few choices of treatment strategies. Therefore, it is urgent to discover genes that are associated with the survival and efficacy of immunotherapies. Method Differential gene expression analyses were conducted using TCGA LUSC bulk-sequencing and single-cell RNA-sequencing data. Prognostic genes were identified from the TCGA LUSC cohort. Protein expression validation and survival analyses were performed. Experiments were conducted to explore the underlying mechanisms. In addition, the correlation between gene expression and pathological response to adjuvant immunochemotherapy was also investigated. Results After a series of bioinformatic analyses, solute carrier family 2 member 1(SLC2A1), encoding glucose transporter-1 (GLUT1), was found to be differentially expressed between tumor and normal tissues. GLUT1 was subsequently identified as an independent prognostic factor for LUSC. GSEA analysis revealed the glycolysis metabolism pathway of KEGG enriched in SLC2A1 high tumor tissues. LASSO analyses revealed that tumor tissues with high expression of SLC2A1 were associated with high levels of protein lactylation. We found that SLC2A1 was preferentially expressed by SPP1 + macrophages in the tumor microenvironment, and the expression of SLC2A1 was associated with the abundance of SPP1 + macrophages. Immunofluorescence demonstrated GLUT1 and HIF1α colocalization in tumor-infiltrating macrophages. In vitro experiments showed HIF-1α-induced macrophage polarization under hypoxia, and GLUT1 inhibition blocked this polarization. In addition, SLC2A1 was negatively associated with the common immune checkpoint molecules, such as programmed cell death 1(PD-1), T cell immunoreceptor with Ig and ITIM domains (TIGIT), cytotoxic T-lymphocyte associated protein 4 (CTLA4) and lymphocyte activating 3 (LAG3), while showed a positive association with CD44. Finally, we observed that there was a significant correlation between pre-adjuvant-treatment GLUT1 expression and the pathological response. Conclusion SLC2A1 expression was differentially upregulated in tumor tissues, and elevated GLUT1 expression was associated with worse survival and poor pathological response to adjuvant immunochemotherapy. Upregulation of GLUT1 promoted macrophage polarization into the M2 phenotype. The findings will contribute to guiding the treatment selection for LUSC patients and providing personalized immunotherapy strategies.

Abstract:Ionizing radiation-derived oxidative stress and ferroptosis are one of the most important biological effects on destroying the liver tumor, whereas radioresistance of liver tumor remains a leading cause of radiotherapy (RT) failure mainly because of the protective antiferroptosis, in which oxidative stress and subsequent lipid peroxidation are the key initiators. Thus, it is of great importance to overcome ferroptosis resistance to improve the therapeutic efficacy of RT in liver tumor patients. Irradiation-resistant HepG2 cells (HepG2-IRR) were established by long-term exposure to X-ray (2 to 8 Gy), and targeted metabolomics analysis revealed an obvious increase in intracellular amino acids in HepG2-IRR cells upon ferroptosis stress. Among these amino acids with obvious changes, N-acetylglutamine, a derivative of glutamine, is essential for the redox homeostasis and progression of tumor cells. Interestingly, the treatment of glutamine starvation could promote the ferroptosis effect significantly, whereas glutamine supplementation reversed the ferroptosis effect completely. Consistent with the changes in amino acids pattern, the glutamine transporter SLC1A5 was verified in liver tumor samples from TCGA training and validation cohorts as an independent prognostic amino acid-ferroptosis gene (AFG). A risk score for screening prognosis based on the SLC1A5, SLC7A11, ASNS, and TXNRD1 demonstrated that a high-risk score was correlated with poor survival. In vitro studies had shown that the knockdown of SLC1A5 resulted in a significant decrease in cell viability and promoted lipid peroxidation and oxidative damage introduced by irradiation (10 Gy). Collectively, our findings indicated that SLC1A5 may act as a suppressor gene against ferroptosis and can be a potential target for ionizing radiation mediated effects.

Abstract:Background: Tumor metastasis is a finely-tuned pathological process coupled to metabolic reprogramming that includes both glutamine and glucose. The solute carrier SLC38A3, a member of amino acid/polyamine/organocation (APC) superfamily, is an c-glutamine transporter. It is not clear whether SLC38A3 involves the metastasis of NSCLC (non small cell lung cancer).Methods: The scratch test and transwell assay were used to determine the ability of NSCLC to migrate. Cellular amino acids content was determined by mass spectrometry. The cellular response to glutamine/histidine deficiency was evaluated in A549 cells. The expression of SLC38A3 was assayed in clinical NSCLC and paratumor tissues by histoimmunochemistry staining. A nude mouse model of NSCLC metastasis was developed by tail vein injection of tumor cells.Results: SLC38A3 was upregulated in metastatic NSCLC cells and its expression was correlated with prognosis of NSCLC patients. SLC38A3 overexpression promoted epithelial mesenchymal transition (EMT) and migration of HCC827 and A549 human lung adenocarcinoma cells, and accelerated tumor metastasis in mice. We found that SLC38A3 decreased the cellular concentrations of glutamine and histidine, and the deficiency of glutamine or histidine activated PDK1/ART signaling that in turn, triggered NSCLC metastasis.Conclusions: SLC38A3 activated PDK1/AKT signaling and promoted metastasis of NSCLC through regulating glutamine and histidine transport, suggesting SLC38A3 as a potential therapeutic target for treatment of NSCLC. Abstract:Background & Aims The role of SLC25A15, a critical component of the urea cycle, in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression remains poorly understood. This study investigated the impact of SLC25A15 on HCC progression and its mechanisms. Methods We systematically investigated the function of SLC25A15 in HCC progression using large-scale data mining and cell, animal, and organoid models. Furthermore, we discussed involvement in reprogramming glutamine metabolism. Results SLC25A15 expression was significantly decreased in HCC tissues, and patients with low SLC25A15 levels had a poorer prognosis. Hypoxia-exposed HCC cells or tissues had lower SLC25A15 expression. A positive correlation between HNF4A, a transcription factor suppressed by hypoxia, and SLC25A15 was observed in both HCC tissues and cells. Modulating HNF4A levels altered SLC25A15 mRNA levels. SLC25A15 upregulated SLC1A5, increasing glutamine uptake. The reactive metabolic pathway of glutamine was increased in SLC25A15-deficient HCC cells, providing energy for HCC progression through additional lipid synthesis. Ammonia accumulation due to low SLC25A15 levels suppressed the expression of OGDHL, a switch gene that mediates SLC25A15 deficiency–induced glutamine metabolism reprogramming. SLC25A15-deficient HCC cells were more susceptible to glutamine deprivation and glutaminase inhibitors. Intervening in glutamine metabolism increased SLC25A15-deficient HCC cells' response to anti-PD-L1 treatment. Conclusion SLC25A15 is hypoxia-responsive in HCC, and low SLC25A15 levels result in glutamine reprogramming through SLC1A5 and OGDHL regulation, promoting HCC progression and regulating cell sensitivity to anti-PD-L1. Interrupting the glutamine-derived energy supply is a potential therapeutic strategy for treating SLC25A15-deficient HCC. Impact and implications We first demonstrated the tumour suppressor role SLC25A15 in HCC and showed that its deficiency leads to glutamine metabolism reprogramming to promote HCC development. SLC25A15 can serve as a potential biomarker for guiding the development of precision therapeutic strategies aimed at targeting glutamine deprivation. Furthermore, This study highlights that the combined use of an inhibitor of glutamine utilization can enhance the sensitivity of low SLC25A15 HCC to anti-PD-L1 therapy.

Abstract:Background SLC15A family members are known as electrogenic transporters that take up peptides into cells through the proton-motive force. Accumulating evidence indicates that aberrant expression of SLC15A family members may play crucial roles in tumorigenesis and tumor progression in various cancers, as they participate in tumor metabolism. However, the exact prognostic role of each member of the SLC15A family in human lung cancer has not yet been elucidated. Materials and Methods We investigated the SLC15A family members in lung cancer through accumulated data from TCGA and other available online databases by integrated bioinformatics analysis to reveal the prognostic value, potential clinical application and underlying molecular mechanisms of SLC15A family members in lung cancer. Results Although all family members exhibited an association with the clinical outcomes of patients with NSCLC, we found that none of them could be used for squamous cell carcinoma of the lung and that SLC15A2 and SLC15A4 could serve as biomarkers for lung adenocarcinoma. In addition, we further investigated SLC15A4-related genes and regulatory networks, revealing its core molecular pathways in lung adenocarcinoma. Moreover, the IHC staining pattern of SLC15A4 in lung adenocarcinoma may help clinicians predict clinical outcomes. Conclusion SLC15A4 could be used as a survival prediction biomarker for lung adenocarcinoma due to its potential role in cell division regulation. However, more studies including large patient cohorts are required to validate the clinical utility of SLC15A4 in lung adenocarcinoma.

Overexpression of SLC38A1 is Associated with Poorer Prognosis in Chinese Patients with Gastric Cancer

Abstract:BACKGROUND:Current literature has demonstrated that host glutamine depletion facilitates tumorigenesis. Likewise, the glutamine transporter SLC38A1 is putatively associated with malignant transformation and tumor progression. Taken together, this forms the premise for undertaking the current study. The twofold aim of this study was to provide insight into whether or not a variance in the expression of SLC38A1 exists between human gastric cancer and healthy human tissues, and to determine how silencing the SLC38A1 gene could affect the proliferation, viability, migration, and invasion of gastric cancer cells.METHODS:Immunohistochemical staining was used to analyze the expression of SLC38A1 in gastric cancer tissues and adjacent healthy mucosa in 896 patients with pathologically confirmed gastric cancer who had underwent R0 resection. SH-10-TC cells (a gastric cancer cell line) were used to examine whether silencing SLC38A1 with siRNA could affect cell viability, migration and invasion.RESULTS:The SLC38A1 protein was very low or undetectable in healthy gastric mucosa. In contrast, strong staining of SLC38A1 protein was found in the cytoplasm in 495 out of the 896 gastric cancer samples. More pronounced SLC38A1 expression in gastric cancer tissues was significantly associated with age, differentiation status, lymph node metastasis, TNM stage and PCNA (proliferating cell nuclear antigen) expression. Upon univariate survival analysis, SLC38A1 expression was correlated with poor survival. Multivariate survival analysis revealed that SLC38A1 was an independent prognostic factor.CONCLUSION:SLC38A1 is overexpressed in gastric cancer, which suggests that it is contributory to tumor progression. These results encourage the exploration of SLC38A1 as a target for intervention in gastric cancer.
