Abstract:As our population continues to age,neurodegenerative diseases are increasing in prevalence and taking a greater toll on society.These devastating diseases are disparate in their clinical presenta-tion-some affect memory while others affect movement.But despite those differences,a common theme uniting most neurode-generative disorders is that misfolded proteins accumulate in the brains of patients afflicted with these diseases.Human genetics discoveries have strongly implicated the accumulation of mis-folded proteins as drivers of disease pathogenesis.
