Abstract:Following the publication of this article, an interested reader drew to the authors' attention that, in Fig. 4 on p. 1913, the t-Akt panel in Fig. 4A looked unexpectedly similar to the β-actin panel in Fig. 4C. The authors were able to refer back to their original data, and realized that the Figure had been compiled incorrectly; essentially, the data for the t-Akt panel had been duplicated, and the data for the β-actin panel in Fig. 4C had not been included in the Figure as intended. The revised version of Fig. 4, showing the correct data for the β-actin panel in Fig. 4C, is shown opposite. This error did not have a significant impact on the results or the conclusions reported in this study. Abstract:Subsequently to the publication of the above article, an interested reader drew to the authors' attention that Fig. 2C and 2D apparently contained overlapping panels, suggesting that these data for purportedly different experiments had been derived from the same original source. The authors re‑examined their original data, and realized that the errors arose inadvertently during the process of compiling the figure. Essentially, multiple photographs of random fields in two directions per sample had been captured, and one photograph of the T24‑P group in a different direction was accidentally mis‑used for the T24‑L/siHIF‑1α group in Fig. 2C; another photograph of the T24‑P group in a different direction was accidentally mis‑used for the T24‑L group in Fig. 2D. A corrected version of Fig. 2 is shown below, featuring the corrected data panels for Fig. 2C and D. Note that the errors in the Figure did not affect either the results or the conclusions reported in this study. Abstract:Posttranslational modifications (PTMs) of histones are well-established contributors in a variety of biological functions, especially tumorigenesis. Histone demethylase JMJD2D (also known as KDM4D), a member of the JMJD2 subfamily, promotes gene transcription by antagonizing H3K9 methylation. JMJD2D is an epigenetic factor coordinating androgen receptor activation, DNA damage repair, DNA replication, and cell cycle regulation. Recently, the oncogenic role of JMJD2D in colorectal cancer (CRC) and hepatocellular cancer (HCC) has been recognized. JMJD2D serves as a coactivator of β-catenin, Gli1/2, HIF1α, STAT3, IRF1, TCF4, and NICD or an antagonist of p53 to promote the progression of CRC and HCC. In this review, we summarize the molecular mechanisms of JMJD2D in promoting the progression of CRC and HCC as well as the constructive role of its targeting inhibitors in suppressing tumorigenesis and synergistically enhancing the efficacy of anti-PD-1/PD-L1 immunotherapy.

Specifically, Fig. 2D appeared to contain a pair of overlapping images, and Figs. 5D and 8A also appeared to include overlapping images. However, the authors were able to consult their original data, and assess where the errors had been made during the compilation of these figures. The corrected versions of Figs. 2 (showing the correct data for the '5T' panel in Fig. 2D) and 5 (showing alternative data) are shown on the subsequent pages.
