The World Vision of Modernization Research:Macro Exploration and Theoretical Enlightenment

Abstract:The theoretical study of China’s modernization started with the modern transition of China.However, the intellectual exploration of modernization began in the Republic of China. The Luo Rongqu Approach is indeed a representative of the theoretical research on China’s modernization after the Reform and Opening Up. Luo Rongqu highlighted the one-dimensional and multi-line historical development concept of modernization, depicted the concept of modernization is a worldwide historical category, and showed the internal and external aspects of modernization. He also established the transition baseline from Westernization to Modernization for China’s modernization theory research, summed up the experience and lessons of East Asian, especially China’s modernization, and thus comprehensively presented the intellectual picture of the theoretical research of China’s modernization. This had been a breakthrough in the theoretical study of China’s modernization, which not only means that the dilemma of careful imitation had been broken through, but also marked the beginning of the very type of research to form a unique awareness of problems and research approach in China.
