Abstract:The vibration signal of transformer's winding is correlative with the conditions of winding's compression and distortion, therefore, vibration monitor of transformer's winding is an effective method for on-line monitoring the power transformer delitescent faults. A new method of obtaining the energy distribution with time and frequency of transformer's winding vibration based on Hilbert-Huang Transform(HHT) was developed. Firstly, Empirical mode decomposition(EMD) separated the vibration series into a finite and small number of intrinsic mode functions(IMF).IMF was directly decomposed from vibration series and could reflect the intrinsic physical property of vibration series more clearly. Secondly, Hilbert transform was applied to every IMF. Then, three dimensional amplitude(energy)-frequency-time spectrum designated as Hilbert spectrum was got, where both amplitude and frequency are functions of time. Eliminating the spurious harmonics without physical mean, the Hilbert spectrum provided high-resolution time-frequency characteristics of winding's different work states. It is demonstrated by the test results that the new detection method is very useful in the fault diagnosis of transformer's winding.

Abstract:Structure,design,technology and field applications of steam turbine vibration sensor fault diagnosis and calibrator equipment were proposed.Based on LabVIEW,interfaces of host computer and console computer and amplitude domain,time do-main,frequency domain analysis model of detective signals were developed. Advantech data collection and signal conditioning modules were used to achieve connection the instrument with bearing vibration sensors,shaft vibration sensors keyphasor sensors and data collection.Fault analysis and diagnostic algorithms and database settings which were used to store collection data were realized with MATLAB.With the comprehensive field test,it is proved that online monitoring,signal analysis and fault diagnosis of vibration sensors at field can be done with this equipment.After transition,it can be used as an online reliable steam turbine vibra-tion monitoring tool in thermal power plants,nuclear power plants and hydropower plants and some other fields with large rotating machinery vibration.

Abstract:In this paper the vibration distribution characteristics are introduced with the aim of detecting the potential deformation of power transformer windings. Vibration distribution characteristics are defined based on the vibration measured on the surface of transformer tank. Features of the vibration distribution characteristics graphics are chosen as the indexes that decide whether there are potential winding failures in the transformer. Experiments are taken to validate this algorithm, looseness of compression force and deformation are done to the windings, corresponding data are collected before and after the man-made failures for comparison. From the experiments it can be concluded that vibration distribution characteristics can reflect the health condition of the winds and can be used as a criterion in transformer faults diagnosis.

Abstract:In this paper, the vibration of power transformer windings is studied with the aim of identifying the winding structural condition. A winding vibration model coupled with electromagnetic force analysis is proposed to obtain the steady-state vibration distribution along the axial direction. During the experiment, the model was validated on a full size, 50MVA, three phase power transformer. Good agreement was found between the measured vibrations and the vibrations that were calculated from the model developed in this study for a healthy winding. The effect of the winding clamping force on vibration is studied to assess the winding clamping state, and different types of winding deformations were simulated to extract diagnostic information. The preliminary study shows that it is feasible to predict the mechanical faults of transformer windings with the vibration method.
Detection of Winding Deformation Based on the Vibration Phase Difference Between Multiple Sensors of Transformers

Abstract:This paper proposes an approach based on the vibration phase difference between different measurement points to detect winding deformation in a transformer. The previous experiment investigated the relationship between the stability of the transformer system and the phase difference between the vibration signal of the transformer and the electrical input. However, obtaining the electrical input in field tests is difficult. Therefore, the vibration phase difference between measurement points is studied. Subsequently, a faulty-state indicator is proposed, which represents the variation in phase difference. To validate the proposed method, laboratory experiments are conducted on a 110 kV power transformer under short-circuit and unloaded conditions. In the experiments, winding deformation was introduced to the target transformer. The findings indicate that winding deformation can cause an increase in the variation of phase difference under different operating conditions. In summary, the proposed indicator can effectively evaluate mechanical condition of a winding.

Abstract:This paper designs a portable transformer condition monitoring and fault diagnosis system based on vibration analysis method. The system designs and offers pivotal technologies, including hardware and software modules such as signal sampling and conditioning,A/D converting,database,fault diagnosis algorithms and user interface. This system can analyze the condition of transformer based on monitoring transformer signals including vibration, current, voltage and temperature. It contains fault diagnosis algorithms,besides normal signal processing method such as spectrum analysis and amplitude analysis. There are also new diagnosis methods like periodicity diagnosis algorithm and the diagnosis algorithm based on transformer vibration modeling. The methods are used for detecting the transformer abnormal and sending alarm. The test result shows that this system conveniently and effectively realizes live monitoring of transformer condition and fault.

Abstract:VSC-HVDC is a kind of HVDC technology which based on voltage source converter and turn-off devices. Its poor over voltage/current capacity are prone to failure. Based on the established VSC-HVDC system simulation model, the DC voltage waveforms under various fault conditions are achieved, and then the character of system fault is decided according to the amplitude fluctuation range of DC voltage. Moreover, in full consideration of influence of transmission power, the wavelet analysis method is adopted to extract the feature of faulty signal, and combined with artificial neural network the system fault is identified. Simulation results show that this method can diagnose and identify VSC-HVDC fault effectively, and the accuracy is not impacted by transmission power.
A Winding Deformation Detection Method Based on Identification of the Nonlinear Vibration System of Transformer

Abstract:This paper aims to propose an efficient and reliable method to detect the mechanical faults in transformers from vibration signatures and relative electric inputs. In the previous work, a single-input and single-output (SISO) Hammerstein-type model can be developed for identifying the nonlinear transformer vibration system, with individual vibration sources activated. According to the previous work, it can be found that the mechanical faults have a significant influence on the property of the linear part in that Hammerstein-type model. And changes in the model order can indicate the variance of characteristics of the linear part. The order determination method based on the Lipschitz criterion is thus presented and utilized to estimate the model orders, which are considered as a mechanical faults indicator. The proposed method is tested on a transformer, giving promising results for fault detection of the transformer windings.

Abstract:Converter transformers are key primary equipment for UHVDC system. The nonlinear switching actions of thyristors seriously deteriorate the working conditions of station converters and make the probability of outage due to component aging remain high. In view of the deficiency of traditional fault diagnosis of converter transformers which mostly relies on non-electric quantity monitoring, this paper presents a method for fault identification of winding axial displacement and inter-turn short circuit based on transformer electrical waveforms by establishing a converter transformer lumped model and analyzing field recorded wave data. Firstly, the accuracy of the converter transformer’s simulation model is verified by comparing the simulation waveforms with the field recorded waveform data, which lays a foundation for obtaining usable fault data sets. Then, the fault features in converter transformer's electrical waveforms were extracted by elliptic equations, and the support vector machine (SVM) was constructed to judge the fault existence and identify the fault types. The test results show that the accuracy of the proposed method is higher than 70%. The effectiveness of transformer fault diagnosis using UHVDC field recording data is verified.

Abstract:This paper presents a detecting system on power transformer winding deformation which can enhance the diagnostic accuracy to a large degree. The Impulse Frequency Response Analysis (IFRA) method is developed for generating frequency response analysis trace (FRA trace) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm is used for predicting the transformer winding deformation. Based on IFRA and SVM, the basic principle of detecting system is presented, the hardware is designed and the software is programmed. Finally, an experimental analysis for detecting transformer winding deformation is carried out to test the practicality of this detecting system.

Abstract:Transformer is a key equipment for constructing power system, and its safe and stable operation is the basis of power system. In order to solve the problems of difficult identification and low detection accuracy of transformer winding at operating state, in this paper, a diagnosis method based on digital twinning technique for transformer winding failure is proposed. Firstly a digital twin transformer model with high simulation degree based on transformer entities was built, and then multiple physical field simulation were used to deduce the information change of oil tank surface vibration information of digital twin transformer under different working conditions, various winding failures. Here, the vibration signal on oil tank is effectively decomposed to extract the feature vector by independent component analysis method and wavelet packet transform, which in turn is based on neural network algorithm to learn and diagnose the failure signal of winding. In order to test the accuracy and feasibility of the method, the diagnostic test of oil tank vibration signal detection of health and fault transformer is carried out on an experimental prototype of transformer with 110 kV, and the diagnostic results show that this method can diagnose the problems occurred in transformer windings with high efficiency and accuracy. © 2022 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Abstract:As one of the most important electrical equipment in power system, the stable operation of transformer is the key factor to ensure the safety of power grid system. Winding deformation is the most common fault of transformer, which will seriously affect the reliable operation of the whole power system. Therefore, the detection of transformer winding deformation is of great significance to prevent transformer accidents. In order to further improve the reliability of transformer winding deformation detection, this paper proposes a transformer winding deformation detection method based on oscillation wave method. Firstly, the equivalent circuit model of transformer winding is established, and the transformer winding fault is simulated by changing the inductance and capacitance parameters in the model, and the law between the change of oscillation wave curve and the change of related performance indexes and equivalent parameters is obtained. Finally, the field test verification is carried out on a 10 kV transformer in the laboratory. The results show that the oscillation wave method can diagnose the transformer winding deformation and can be used for the actual transformer winding deformation detection.

Abstract:Vibration analysis is one of the important tools for the transformer winding faults diagnosis. Previous researchers have proved that the vibration spatial distribution of the winding is significantly influenced by the winding defects for the open circuit condition. In order to study the effects of the loading current on the winding vibrations under different mechanical conditions, experiments were designed and operated on a three-phase transformer winding to analyze the winding vibration distribution under different winding defect cases. Further, to study to what extent the mechanical defects and the loading current influence characteristics of the vibration distribution on the tank, the tank vibration distribution under various winding defects and different loading currents were also measured and discussed. In addition, the possibility of detection of transformer winding faults based on tank vibration spatial distribution characteristics was also discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, the relationship between the phase variation in transformer vibration and the mechanical stability of the transformer is presented for the first time. First, the systems of winding vibration and core vibration are both described by Hammerstein-type models consisting of linear and nonlinear parts. Then the links between the phase angle of the fundamental winding/core vibration and system properties are established based on those Hammerstein-type models. They indicate that the phase variation can be used as an effective indicator of deterioration in transformer stability due to mechanical defects in the winding and core. To validate this claim, laboratory experiments and field tests are conducted. In the laboratory experiment, two mechanical faults-looseness of the winding clamping structure and winding deformation-are introduced to a 110 kV power transformer. The results show that both winding clamping looseness and winding deformation will cause larger phase variation in the winding-induced vibration and core-induced vibration. In the field tests, this relationship is also observed on an abnormal 220 kV power transformer. All the findings show that the proposed indicators can provide efficient fault-related information for evaluation of a winding's mechanical health condition. (C) 2021 Elsevier Ltd. Abstract:At moment there are very few system which can monitor the key operating parameters of wind turbine important components,and fault diagnosis capability in the existing system is very poor.An integrated system is designed,which combines the on-line fault warning and fault diagnosis.The hardware and software implementation is firstly demonstrated from system structure,system function and integrated system characters.Based on the analysis of fault diagnosis methods and vibration signal characters,the principle of fault warning system and the steps of fault diagnosis are expounded and proved,specially the function and implementation of fault diagnosis self-learning function.Practical operation in Zhangbei wind power plant shows that this monitoring system can satisfy the actual application with high reliability and efficiency.

Abstract:A method of power transformer mechanical structure fault diagnosis based on controlled switching process vibration measurement is presented in this paper. Compared with steady state loading condition, vibration generated in the controlled switching process contains abundant information of transformer mechanical structure. The wavelet packet decomposition is used to detect the signal envelop of such vibration response signal. Through theoretical analysis, the dynamic characteristic of transformer structure is approximately viewed as a second-order system and by estimating the time constant values, the potential defects of the transformer mechanical structure can be detected.

Abstract:Because of the high prices and difficulties to conduct short-current tests of large power transformers, it is meaningful to analyze the dynamic electromagnetic force analysis of the transformer windings through finite element software. Research in this paper presents a model of the 50000MVA/110KV three phase transformer established by COMSOL. Different conditions of short-circuit current are applied to the model, testing the dynamic electromagnetic forces of the transformer windings. Results of the paper may be useful for investigating the winding deformation state prediction.

Abstract:In this paper, a condition assessment model using vibration method is presented to diagnose winding structure conditions. The principle of the model is based on the vibration correlation. In the model, the fundamental frequency vibration analysis is used to separate the winding vibration from the tank vibration. Then, a health parameter is proposed through the vibration correlation analysis. During the laboratory tests, the model is validated on a test transformer, and manmade deformations are provoked in a special winding to compare the vibrations under different conditions. The results show that the proposed model has the ability to assess winding conditions.

Abstract:When the transformer is subjected to a short-circuit or transport collision, the windings may be deformed under the action of electric power or mechanical force. Commonly used winding deformation diagnosis methods are all off-line diagnostic methods, which have the disadvantages of requiring the transformer to be out of service and high professional skills of the operator. To improve the accuracy and efficiency of winding deformation diagnosis, this paper proposed an online intelligent diagnosis method for winding deformation combined with information entropy (IE) and support vector machine (SVM). The method uses the permutation entropy (PE) and wavelet entropy (WE) to extract the characteristics of current and voltage signals, and comprehensively analyses the variation of the monitoring indicators in the complexity and time-frequency domain. The machine learning algorithm automatically learns the diagnosis logic from the fault features to realize the intelligent diagnosis of winding deformation. This study carried out training and testing on the real operating data of 29 transformers. The correct rate of diagnosis for deformation was 93.10%, and the correct rate of diagnosis for specific deformation positions reached 88.89%. This paper verifies the effectiveness of the online diagnostic model and the scalability between different types of transformers.
