Abstract:Phytochemical investigation of the fruits from Trichilia connaroides led to the isolation of four rare 1,2-seco phragmalin-type limonoids (1–4) with C-7/28 δ-lactone ring along with two known triterpenoids (5–6). An oxygen bridge between C-1 and C-2 formed an rare 9-oxa-tricyclo[3.3.2.17,10]undecane-2-ene moiety in structure of 1 and 2, and 3–4 possessed a bicyclo[5.2.14,10]decane skeleton. Their structures were established based on extensive spectroscopic methods and their absolute configurations of 1 were confirmed by TDDFT/ECD calculation and comparative analysis. Compounds 5–6 showed moderate inhibitory effects on Hela tumor cell lines with inhibition ratio values of 83.8% and 87.1% at concentration 40μM, respectively.

Abstract:Spirotrichilins A (1) and B (2), two novel limonoids with an unprecedented spiro[cyclopenta[b]furan-2,1′-cyclopentan] ring system in A/B/C rings, were isolated from the fruits of trichilia connaroides. Their planar structures and absolute configurations were established based on 1D-, 2D-NMR data, electronic circular dichroism (ECD) exciton chirality method and time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT)/ECD calculation. A benzilic acid-like rearrangement in ring A was proposed as the key step in the plausible biogenetic pathway of 1 and 2.

Abstract:Phytochemical investigation of the leaves of Trichilia connaroides afforded 12 new limonoids with phragmalin- (1-11) and mexicanolide-type skeletons (12). Abstract:Trichiliasinenoids A C (1-3), three new limonoids with an unprecedented C-29-C-7 connecting carbon skeleton formed by migration of C-7 from C-6 to C-29 of a mexicanolide-type limonoid precursor were isolated from the leaves and twigs of Trichilia sinensis. Their structures were assigned by spectroscopic analysis, and the absolute configurations were determined by X-ray crystallography (1) and ECD calculation (2 and 3). A possible biosynthetic pathway of 1 was also proposed. Compound 2 exhibited moderate cytotoxicity against HL-60 cells and weak cytotoxicity against SMMC-7721cells. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. Abstract:Two new mexicanolide-type limonoids, trichiconnarones A (1) and B (2), along with six known analogues (3–8), were isolated from the fruits of Trichilia connaroides. The structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic methods and the known compounds were identified by comparisons their data with those reported in the literatures. All new compounds were evaluated for their anti-inflammatory activities via examining the inhibitory activity on nitric oxide (NO) production induced by lipopolysaccharide in mouse macrophage RAW 264.7 cells in vitro. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited inhibitory effects with IC50 values comparable to that of hydrocortisone.

Abstract:Six new trichilin-type limonoids (1-6) with C-19/29 lactol or acetal bridge and a new ring intact limonoid (7) were isolated from the desiccative ripe fruits of Trichilia sinensis. Their structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic methods including 1H NMR, 13C NMR, HSQC, HMBC, ROESY experiments as well as HRESI-MS data. All isolated compounds were evaluated for toxicities against human pulmonary carcinoma A549 and Hela cell lines by sulforhodamine B (SRB) method. Compound 7 showed weak inhibitory activity in Hela cell line at 40 μmol·L-1.

Abstract:Four new limonoids, tociliatonoid B-E (1–4) were obtained from the EtOAc extract of the twigs and leaves of Toona ciliata var. yunnanensis. Abstract:A new 1,2-seco phragmalin-type limonoid, named trichilinone A, which contained a 1,30-oxo bridge in the tetranortriterpenoid core, was isolated from the roots of Trichilia sinensis (Meliaceae). The structure was eluci-dated based on the analysis of its HRESIMS and NMR spectroscopic data, and its absolute configuration was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compound 1 showed weak acetylcholinesterase inhibi-tory activity in vitro.

Abstract:Twelve new phragmalin-type limonoids, including trichisintons A-D (1-4), which contain an unusual bicyclo[5.2.1(4,10)] decane motif in the tetranortriterpenoid core, and trisinenmalins A-C and E-I (5-7 and 10-14), together with the known compounds 15-acetyltrichagmalin C (8) and trisinenmalin D (9), were isolated from the roots of Trichilia sinensis. Their structures were determined on the basis of the analysis of MS and NMR spectroscopic data, as well as by comparison with the literature. Compounds 5-7 and 10-14 displayed weak inhibitory activity against selected tumor cell lines. Compounds 2-4, 6-9 and 12-14 exhibited weak acetylcholinesterase-inhibiting activity in vitro.

Abstract:Phytochemical investigation on the twigs and leaves of Trichilia sinensis led to the isolation of two previously undescribed limonoids (i.e., trichiliasinenoids D and E, 1 and 2), two previously undescribed phenolic acids (3 and 4), and one previously undescribed natural phenolic acid dimer (5), together with 11 known compounds (616). Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis (IR, UV, HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR) and chemical techniques. The potential anti-inflammatory activities of all the compounds were evaluated in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Among these isolates, compounds 1, 2, 6, and 11-13 expressed weak NO inhibition. The antibacterial activities of all the compounds against bacteria were also tested in vitro. Compound 16 exhibited moderate antibacterial activities against Escherichia Coli.

Abstract:Three new norlimonoids (1-3), two new tirucallane-type triterpenoids (4 and 5), and a new pimaradiene-type diterpenoid (6), along with two known limonoids and eight known tirucallane-type triterpenoids, were isolated from the leaves and twigs of Toona ciliata. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data. Toonaciliatin M (6) showed moderate antifungal activity against Trichophyton rubrum with an MIC of 12.5 mu g/mL.
