Abstract:It is an inexorable trend to use multimedia computer assisted instruction (CAI) for education. Being aimed at the multimedia education in the coarse of power plant, the utilization of a new virtual reality technology QTVR for instructing the said coarse has been discussed. Pa noramic image and scene can be established to regard the entire thermal power plant as a concrete object. And browsing the said image and scene with a web browser via intranet/internet, providing the learners with a virtual scene, obtaining perfect teaching effect as in the field. All these open a new way for remote learning about the coarse of power plant.

Abstract:This paper proposed a new method of implementing effects and transitions in SlideShow,which was based on GPU(graphics processing unit).It discussed how to take advantage of GPU,implement effects and transitions in SlideShow using Direct3D.With the fixed function pipeline,could implement many transitions and some simple effects,such as wipe in/wipe out,fade in/fade out and rotate image.With the programmable function pipeline,we can implement much more effects,such as emboss and mosaic.Discussed using the high-level shader language to implement effects.And also gave some examples about effects and transitions.

Abstract:Animation is an important presentation method in tile internet-based Virtual Reality Laboratory (iVRLab). Because of the iVRLab's four basic features--3-D form, interactivity, network basing and virtuality, conventional animating method can not meet the requirement. Based on tile VRML animating principle and analysis of the iVRLab's requirement, a brand-new animation forming mechanism is presented. An example of liquid surface lifting animation is illustrated to give the more details.

Computer Applications in Engineering Education

Abstract:Abstract Virtual teachers embedded into reality enable the transfer of skills and knowledge to students by demonstration. However, authoring the animation of virtual characters aligned with real environments is difficult for educators. In this study, a novel animation authoring framework for demonstration teaching is proposed based on human–computer interaction and intelligent algorithm, and its application is demonstrated in mixed reality experimental education. We developed a simulation experiment environment; users could operate equipment using gestures by a Leap Motion controller. The interaction trajectory can be adaptively adjusted by the dynamic motion primitives algorithm to generate a virtual teacher demonstration trajectory aligned with real environments. For the details of the virtual teacher animation, the deep reinforcement learning algorithm performed the adaptive grabbing for objects of different shapes and sizes. Our experimental results showed that the framework is easy to use; users are able to easily author a natural animation of a virtual teacher performing a chemical experiment aligned with real environments. Also, the user feedback showed that the virtual teacher's demonstration animation in MR is impressive, and students can learn from the animation by observation and imitation.

Abstract:As computer technology advanced, VR has emerged. It is a virtual environment based on high-tech computer technology that can bring people a sense of reality and sensory experience. Through specific devices or equipment, it uses unique means to interact and communicate with the target object in the virtual environment, so that the professor can get a sense of reality and immersive experience. In order to increase students’ interest in teaching content, and at the same time to develop the education industry to achieve technology, this article combines virtual reality technology with experimental teaching. The paper discusses the use of VR in animation art experimental teaching and plans to provide thoughts and instructions about the fresh way in animation experimental teaching. This paper proposes the application research methods of VR in animation experiment teaching, including literature research method, expert interview method, questionnaire survey method, VR animation art teaching based on image method, and VR animation teaching evaluation clustering algorithm, which is used for conducting research experiments on the utilization of VR in animation art experimental learning. The experimental results in this article show that 96.25% of students like animation art VR experimental teaching system, which is helpful to the development of the teaching work.

Abstract:Abstract This study explores the application of virtual reality technology and traditional offline hybrid teaching mode for the specialized course “Animation Laws of Motion”. Through the improved ORB algorithm, this paper effectively combines the BRIEF and ORB image feature and matching algorithms to optimize capturing and matching image features. Two classes of animation majors in a school were selected for experiments in the study, and the effects of the two teaching modes were compared through half-term tests, pre- and post-test question analyses, and questionnaire surveys. The results show that after the teaching assisted by VR animation technology, students’ acceptance and emotional attitudes are significantly improved, and the students in the experimental class better mastered the six motion methods in the animation motion course and completed the animation design tasks with high quality. In the animation modeling course, the proportion of low-quality works in the experimental class is only 4%, showing significant teaching effects. The Research in this paper provides empirical support for the application of virtual reality technology in animation education. It demonstrates the potential of combining VR technology with traditional teaching in enhancing teaching effectiveness.

Abstract:This paper aims at proposing a framework for animating virtual humans that can efficiently interact with real users in virtual reality (VR). If the user's order can be modeled as targets and commands, the system searches a database for the most convenient behavior. In order to avoid using a huge database that can deal with any kind of situation, we propose to associate this searching process to an adaptation module. Hence, even if the selected motion is not perfectly suited with the situation, it can be adapted in order to reach accurately the target specified by the user. This framework is illustrated with a kung-fu fighter example. Two people are involved in this example: the user and the supervisor. The user is displacing in the real environment while the position of his head is tracked in real-time thanks to reflective markers. The virtual opponent follows the displacement of the user to stay close to him. At any time, the supervisor can ask the virtual character to kick or punch the user. Our system automatically searches for the convenient motion in an average-size database (75 motions compared to hundreds of motions required for motion graphs) and adapts it to the current situation.

Abstract:This work expands further our earlier poster presentation and integration of the OpenGL Slides Framework (OGLSF) - to make presentations with real-time animated graphics where each slide is a scene with tidgets - and physical based animation of elastic two-, three-layer softbody objects. The whole project is very interactive, and serves dual purpose - delivering the teaching material in a classroom setting with real running animated examples as well as releasing the source code to the students to show how the actual working things are made.

Abstract:Abstract In order to provide a way to develop the teaching effectiveness of physics experiments, this paper optimizes the platform search engine by combining heterogeneous data features and representing document information as feature vectors based on visual learning analysis methods. The algorithm is dynamically adjusted according to the authority to build a network database. And the virtual physics experiments have interacted with virtual experimental equipment to build a physics virtual simulation experiment platform. The results show that the overall level of visual student portrait analysis is above 40%, and the average completion efficiency of visual evaluation tasks 1-9 is 87.9%, which helps the digital transformation and upgrading of experimental physics teaching and promotes the construction of high-quality virtual simulation experimental teaching system.

Abstract:With the rapid improvement of computer hardware capabilities and the reduction of cost, the quality of game pictures has made a qualitative breakthrough, which has reached or exceeded the picture effect of many dedicated virtual reality engines. On the basis of the design and implementation of the virtual reality 3D engine, the rendering queue management method is proposed to improve the frame rate. Based on the object-oriented design method, emitter regulator particle rendering mode, and traditional bone skin animation technology, the key structure technology in skeletal animation is analyzed, and the animation controller used to control animation playback and key structure interpolation operation is designed, which achieves the ideal animation effect. Finally, a prototype system based on engine is implemented.

Abstract:In the present work we have made use of the animation freeware Algodoo,as an easy handling tool to teach and learn physics. The animation is based on the oblique motion model and we have described the movement qualitatively, showing changes in the trajectory of an object as we modify the control parameters, such as speed and launch angle. Exploring the software graphical tools, the consistency between the results obtained by the animation and the literature is maintained, for example the maximum height and the rise time of the disc. This tool can be applied to students from different education levels, and also to undergraduate and high school students.

Abstract:Virtual reality technology is a computer simulation that allows the creation and experience of virtual worlds, using computers to generate a simulated environment into which the user is immersed. Through a theoretical exposition of 3D virtual reality technology, the elements of teaching and learning and virtual reality technology are analyzed in terms of abstract virtual cognition and concrete modeling techniques, and the forms of application of virtual reality technology in high school physics teaching are described, along with associated educational technology theories. The era of core literacy development poses new challenges to basic teaching and requires new teaching methods and approaches to adapt. The development of 3D virtual reality technology has provided new opportunities for teaching reform. Firstly, the unique charm of virtual reality technology itself has deeply attracted many experts and scholars to explore its application in pedagogy. Secondly, the scale and effect of virtual reality technology in pedagogy applications are still far from the ideal goal in people's mind, and further exploration and research are needed in the theoretical support of educational technology research. Thirdly, in the process of high school basic teaching, on the one hand, basic experiments play a crucial role, and on the other hand, transforming abstract basic principles and concepts into concrete visible and operable teaching methods is also an important direction for its future development. Combined with the development tools and software to build processes and models, the knowledge of electricity and mechanics in high school physics is modeled in 3Ds MAX and Unity3D to provide technical support for the application of virtual reality in high school physics teaching and to promote the reform of high school physics teaching. Based on an in-depth analysis of virtual reality technology in the construction of teaching resources, this paper explores the feasibility of using software systems and hardware facilities of 3D virtual reality technology in high school physics teaching, such as experimental demonstration, geometric modeling, and 3D graphic transformation. It fits the cognitive level of high school students, constructs 3D virtual scenes and virtual object motion trajectory models that meet the requirements of the high school physics curriculum, and promotes the application of virtual reality technology in high school physics teaching and visualizing abstract physics knowledge, with clear student understanding and significant improvement in learning efficiency.

The Visual Computer

Abstract:We introduce an animation system that transforms instructional videos into 3D animations with pedagogical agents, supplemented by animation editing tools to foster expressive, agent-based presentations, thereby enhancing educational benefits. Our system extracts the lecturer's motion from the imported instructional video. Once the data extraction is complete, the system retargets this motion to the virtual agent and integrates it into a virtual classroom environment. Subsequently, it provides a GUI-based animation editing tool, offering a range of resources, such as motion assets (e.g., upper body gestures, facial expressions), which enable users to layer them on top of the extracted motion to make the pedagogical agent's motions more engaging. To evaluate our system, we conducted a user study encompassing non-expert and expert groups, employing a mixed-method approach by collecting both quantitative and qualitative data. The results demonstrated our system's educational value, functionality, and usability. Furthermore, the comparative analysis between the non-expert (people with no animation experience) and expert (people with prior animation experience) user groups provided distinct perspectives on our system, reflecting differences in the user's animation experience and expertise. However, both groups reported similar usability and task load levels, indicating that non-experts can use our system efficiently to produce expressive agent-based presentations. We plan to release our system as an open source, cross-platform solution to help educators create engaging agent-based presentations.

Abstract:Based on the study of abroad foundation on visual theory, we conduct depth discussion of the current introduction of visual teaching meaning. For the current computer graphics course content, we determine a visual teaching content and objectives, carry out the study and practice of computer graphics algorithm visualization teaching. This paper uses VB 6.0 visual programming tool to generate the basic primitives, polygon filling, cut a straight line segment, curve generation and visualization of fractal algorithm design and realization. Through analysis, this paper hold that use of visual teaching has a positive effect and influence for professors to change the way teachers help students understand computer graphics algorithm. In the process of teaching, students improve the understanding, exploration, discovery and creativity through observation, conjecture and verify.
