Abstract:In this paper, on the basis of overview on artificial intelligent, expert system and characters of safety production in ammonia plant, a practical expert system is developed for safety project and fault detection of ammonia plant with some new consideration on knowledge express, reasoning machine and system implementation. This expert system has been implemented in a ammonia plant with satisfied results. Siginificent economic benefit is expected to be achieved.

Abstract:This paper illustrates how condition based maintenance (CBM) systems can be divided into different abstract layers and their relationships to standards related to CBM, and how this different layers can be cooperated based on semantic web technologies. We use ontology and rule to capture and organize knowledge of condition based maintenance systems, and then use some reasoning technologies to manipulate the knowledge. We also provide a case to show the flow to construct a semantic expert system using semantic web technologies.

Abstract:Maintenance activities play a key role in keeping performance, reliability and safety levels of generating facilities in power plants. Scheduled maintenance and imperfect condition-based maintenance often augmented by additional breakdown maintenance are the usual maintenance strategies employed by generating companies now in China. Recently, a new maintenance philosophy called as intelligent maintenance system was proposed. This paper describes the new advantages and characteristics of intelligent maintenance system, and shows the possible challenges to develop the intelligent maintenance system for generating equipment. The technologies of fault prognosis, maintenance scheduling and sensors etc. as the key elements of intelligent maintenance system in power plants are depicted in detail, and their future research directions are addressed respectively

Abstract:Seafloor observatory network is a subject service for undersea exploration and researching work.To realize condition monitoring,data measuring and the transmission preservation of other communicating signals,it is especially important to design and study monitor system of bank basestation and series data monitor system.Focusing on the features of Seafloor observatory,the paper realized working condition monitor,measurement transmission with VC and SQL-Serve technique,as well as share monitor data with Internet with the help of Web technique. Besides viewing of the long term and stableness features of seafloor observatory network,the paper put forward improving method and design idea,which were proved effective and reliable by practical running. Abstract:An expert system for supervisory control of an industrial ethanol oxidizing plant is described. In the process of producing aldehyde from ethanol oxidation, there are five unit operations involved and the fixed-bed catalytic reactor plays significant role, and the raw material consumption of the process is analyzed and served as the main variable related to performance of the process. Tasks for supervisory control of the plant include keeping safe operation of the plant and minimizing the raw material consumption of the process. Some kinds of subtask can be classified. The expert system proposed is a hybrid one which consists of a knowledge based part and a conventional logic part. The later contains a set of models and numerical algorithms, which can be combined to form functional mould for the real-time subtasks such as estimaton, optimization and control. The knowledge-based part, with a bidirection reasoning strategy, can use both qualitative knowledge and model-based information for analyzing performance of the process, diagnosing potential origins from which a deterioration of the performance or a fault of the equipment could arise, and providing corrective actions by assigning suitable subtasks to the conventional part of the system. The practical case has been discussed and the usefulness of microcomputer-based expert system in chemical industry has been shown.

Abstract:According to current situation of the ship automation and ship building industry in China,the necessity to research and to develop integrated ship control system is analyzed in this paper.The structure of ship control system and the disadvantages of the traditional control system are introduced.Then a design plan of control system based on distributed control units is proposed and analyzed.Finally,based on the Supcon Web Field ECS-100,a simulation system of integrated ship control is implemented.Test results show the feasibility and effectiveness of the design plan.

Expert Systems with Applications

Abstract:Faults during dredging process often caused serious damages on dredging system. High maintenance costs and prolonged fault recovering process often make dredging production and profit low. An online fault diagnosis and prevention expert system that is aimed to prevent fault occurrence and to quicken the recovering process is introduced in this paper. For the complexity of fault judging and prevention process and frequently varying dynamics of dredging operations, hybrid structure and inference process are adopted in the expert system. ANNs are introduced to adapt the varying system dynamics and to predict system state. Designed expert application is also featured by online fault prevention and recovering decisions. Preliminary test has been carried out in actual engineering project and results of performance evaluation experiment are also introduced.

Abstract:This paper presents a remote automatic monitor and control system of small water power station rubber dam, based on S7-200 series PLC and WinCC HMI tool. The system takes the both advantages of automatic control and remote control and remains the local manual electrical or mechanical control function. It makes the work of rubber dam more robust, stable and safe, facilitates the users more flexible and improves the power generation efficiency.

Abstract:Generally, expert systems have been found very useful branch of artificial intelligence that makes extensive use of specialized knowledge to solve complex problems and even in fertilizer plants it has been deployed in handling operations in critical sections, such as material handling systems, online leak detection systems, granulation, air compressor among others. This paper presents research work for steam package boiler expert system for control and maintenance of fertilizer plants using rule-base fuzzy logic hybrid system, which has not been benefited much from expert system. The system handles cause of boiler failures in terms of controlling and maintaining the functional chemical components of the boiler drum and feed water parameters. validation on the system consistency, correctness, and its precision with six (6) steam package boiler parameters test value cases was conducted involving fourteen (14) fertilizer plant boiler domain partitioners. The boiler drum and feed water qualities with less or higher test value worst-cases validates the boiler system, showing each of the parameter’s bar turns red, as displayed on the boiler’s panel, while on test value best-cases, validates the system, displaying green on the boiler’s panel as users entered the right value of parameters per the design specification. We discovered that from 1 to 10 minutes run time for auto system run gives 10.8% errors as compared from 1 to 10 minutes time interval on manual system run that gives 80.2% error, this results to less effort in user interface application usage on auto operations better than manual. The expert system prevents damaged and malfunctioning as control the alkalinity, prevent scaling, both mechanical & chemical corrosion, forming, correct pH values and then the conductivity which deals with the feed boiler water and monitored the level in the boiler drum using the industry measurement parameters (pressure, temperature, level, and flow).

Abstract:System monitoring is a process to collect, evaluate and analyze various data related to system performance, so as to realize system performance monitoring, trend analysis and health evaluation. This paper researches system monitoring based on Maintenance Rule (MR) and Equipment Reliability Process Description (AP-913). This paper also introduces the background and concept of system monitoring; provides implementation process of system monitoring that is applicable to Chinese nuclear power plants; analyzes the key elements of system monitoring scheme development; takes monitoring program development of a typical system as an example to discuss the difficulties during development process; evaluates and summarizes application benefit of system monitoring scheme. Both international and domestic practice show that system monitoring for important systems in nuclear power plants can verify the effectiveness of current preventive maintenance strategies, ensuring that system equipment could satisfy its performance requirements under the designed condition. In addition, system monitoring could help prevent unplanned trip in nuclear power plants, improve availability and reliability of system equipment and provide technical support for sustainable improvement and long-term strategies of plants.

Abstract:Based on expert system control strategies, the control rules, restrictive conditions and realization principles of ship's stowage/discharge are presented. By controlling ship floating state, the rate and ability of loading or discharging ballast water can be enhanced to ensure the adaptation of ballast water to cargo operation during the cargo loading. Based on the multiple hierarchy control strategy combining negative inference and positive inference, the ship's stowage plan and loading/discharging turns can be ensured, and the characteristics indexes of loading order, time and ship's floating state etc. in every step during cargo operation can be provided. The accuracy and feasibility of the systems is validated by the calculation for a real ship. The ship stowage plan and operation procedure can be confirmed quickly and reasonably by the method, also the efficiency improved and the blindness avoided during stowage.

Abstract:Remote condition monitoring of water vehicles plays an important role in preventing potentially very expensive marine incidents and ensuring maximum efficiency of a ship's operation and reliability with minimum maintenance downtime and repair costs. Concept of the condition-based approach to maintenance is today's best practise, and it is becoming increasingly important to move from planned maintenance to condition-based maintenance, to reduce the increasingly high cost of maintaining a modern fleet. Abstract:The current study proposes a intelligent maintenance decision-making system is as a fixed equipment maintenance strategies assessment system. Because the maintenance decision-making is based on monitoring of equipment damage state and risk in the system, the system is established on the distributed database and internet technology. Moreover, different maintenance strategies, such as corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance strategies after periodic and in-service inspections, are determined according to equipment failure consequences and risks. According to the data in the risk database and damage state database, the decision-making regards the "System" as a decision-making object and performs the risk-concentrated analysis, the operational cycle after maintenance and cost-effective maintenance assessment, where the multi-objective optimization of maintenance strategies on safety, availability, and economic efficiency is accomplished.

Abstract:An expert system for station and substation reliability evaluation (ESSSRE) is presented in this paper. The new model is developed with consideration of dependent failures. Software based on the above model is developed with application of an expert system which consists of a database, reasoning machine and knowledge-base. Reliability criteria may be expressed in alphabet-digit form which is convenient for users. Software is available for reliability evaluation of various configurations of busbar arrangement in power stations and substations.

Abstract:A new way for AI is to apply Artificial Neural Networks (NN) to expert system, which is very effective to gain experience of field experts. Taking the advantage of learning algorithms of NN to simulate management experience of experts, this paper analyzes the learning feature of NN and establishes an expert system for aeronautical maintenance quality evaluation. Practice Results show that the system is both practicable and reliable, it can supports the decision-making process in quality management of aeronautical maintenance engineering.

Abstract:This paper introduces the composition of continuous emission monitoring system, and the basic concepts of the artificial intelligent technologies. According to the engineering practice and the basic concepts, authors found that the sampling handing system is prone to malfunction. Furtherly, the sampling probe unit is more vulnerable, so PLC control system of the probe is detailed analyzed. In addition, the authors try to realize fault diagnosis based on expert system. Therefore, based on field experience, most likely failure points were discussed in this paper. As the core of expert system for fault diagnosis, this pre-diagnosis method is very helpful to the acquisition of knowledge. In the end, the desirable properties of CEMS control and diagnosis frameworks were discussed for further research and development.
