Abstract:Considering the influence of wheel vertical load,the paper establishes a dynamic model of 8 degrees freedom for an entire vehicle when driving in the crooked roads.Based on this model,the changes of vehicle speed,wheel speed,slip ratio and wheel load were simulated.The simulation result shows that the model can predict the forces and movements of vehicle under braking in turn condition.The model can be used in further improvement and research on ABS.

Abstract:The ABS hydraulic system was modeled and simulated.The braking pressure was measured by the ABS HIL simulation test platform and compared with the simulation results,the results show that the simulation results can agree with the measured valves,the average error is less than 0.84bar.The conclusion is the model gives a convenient and reliable way in the ABS hydraulic control unit parameters design,and provides basis of control logic.

Abstract:The efficient work of the braking system ensures the safety of the driver's life and property during the driving process. For tracked vehicles, a reliable braking system is the guarantee of completing the job or the task. This paper studies a high-speed electric-driven tracked vehicle's driving state on different mu-split road surfaces and establishes the braking system model and the longitudinal dynamics model of the vehicle and driving wheels. Steering stability analysis was carried out and a relative motion between the two-sided braking systems resulting in a transfer torque was found. A load simulation test system has been built and the improved forward speed tracking algorithm has been used to adjust the inertia by combining the flywheel and the loading motor to simulate the load of the driving wheel. The results of the motor load simulation test show that the load simulation algorithm in this paper can effectively simulate the load on the driving wheel and restore working conditions of the real tracked vehicle. This paper also conducts the combined braking test of the two-sided system which gives the torque situation on both sides of the vehicle and obtains the transfer torque by applying the load simulation algorithm.

Abstract:Vehicle antilock systems play a very important role in the stability and reliability during vehicle braking. Due to the complexity of the braking process, antilock braking system (ABS) usually face the problems such as nonlinearity, time-varying, and uncertain parameter modeling. Thus, aiming at the parameter model uncertainty problem of ABS, an adaptive neural network sliding mode controller (ADRBF-SMC) is designed in this paper. On this basis, establishing the quarter-vehicle model and the seven-degree-of-freedom vehicle model, and treating the difference between the two models as a kind of disturbance, carrying out vehicle braking performance simulation experiments to analyze the variation of braking performance parameters such as vehicle and wheel speeds, slip ratio, braking distance, braking torque, under the three cases of adaptive neural network sliding mode controller, traditional sliding mode controller, and no control. Simulation results show that the adaptive neural network sliding mode controller (ADRBF-SMC) proposed in this paper can play an effective control role in both vehicle dynamics models. In addition, the control method proposed in this paper has stronger anti-interference capability and higher robustness compared with the sliding mode controller (SMC).

Abstract:To aim at the strict signal control problem of the brake power in the anti-lock braking system(ABS),the ABS working principle is analyzed in this paper,and an experiment of the ABS signal processing based on electrical mechanism was carried out.Then,the modeling structure,the data,the algorithm and the test of the ABS signal processing applied four-wheel speed sensors are presented in detail.Finally,the experiment results proved that it is fast and accurate,and provided the suitable gist of the control of the ABS system.

Abstract:Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, Ahead of Print. The study investigates the braking characteristics of heavy-load five-axle special vehicle to improve the braking safety of it. The mechanical system with strong coupling is studied by means of multi-body dynamics analysis method, and the refined vehicle dynamics model including braking system, suspension system, steering system, and other components is established via platform of Adams/Car. Through road test experiments, the accuracy and reliability of the model under conditions of 80 m constant turning radius circle and emergency braking of 60 km/h initial speed are verified. The classical ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) control strategy with logic threshold including a road recognition module and a slip ratio calculation module is established in Simulink, which matches the ABS control system of 6 S/6 M for the five-axle special vehicle well. By changing adhesion conditions of a single road and the control channel modes of the split-mu road, the control effect of the ABS control system on the braking performance of the five-axle vehicle is determined by the co-simulation. The experimental and simulation results indicate the following: (1) The vehicle dynamics model can effectively simulate the structure of the actual vehicle mechanical system and mechanical constraints, and has good braking performance and steering performance; (2) ABS external control system and heavy-load five-axle vehicle model can be matched, and during the control process, logic thresholds need to be repeatedly adjusted to adapt to different types of roads. (3) The change of road adhesion coefficient will affect the control effect of ABS. The baking performance can be improved more in low adhesion road than in high adhesion road. (4) Split-mu road is more special and has a great impact on the lateral stability of braking. It can be seen through comparative analysis of high-selection and low-selection control that braking safety is better under low selection control mode.

Abstract:Automated vehicles are increasingly being researched and developed to reduce accident rates. The braking system is an integral part of the safety factor in the vehicle. One of the development systems in braking on vehicles is the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). ABS is a vehicle b that prevents the wheels from locking during sudden braking. The research was conducted by modelling and designing the ABS braking system using SIMULINK software on MATLAB. This research was conducted by varying the coefficient of braking friction on dry asphalt, wet asphalt, dry soil, and wet soil by paying attention to the braking distance. In the first test, the first test of the non-ABS system sets 0.9. The results were obtained with the shortest braking distance of 20 meters and the farthest, 34.5 meters. As for the results with ABS, the shortest braking distance is 17.95 meters, and the farthest is 27 meters. From the analysis that has been done, it is found that the ABS is better than the non-ABS system. This is because ABS regulates the braking calliper and is adjusted to the vehicle’s dynamics instead of statically. When there is a difference in vehicle speed with different wheels too far (while the wheels will lock), the calliper on the brakes will open and close dynamically, unlike non-ABS

Abstract:Based on the research of braking principle of motorcycle braking system, a dynamic disc brake model and a 7-degree motorcycle model were constructed individually under simulation software: Matlab and MSC. ADAMS. According to the input and output relationships between these two models, a co-simulation model was constructed by the co-simulation function that presented by ADAMS; it made braking performance researches on the co-simulation model be carried out. By co-simulation running, motorcycle-braking performance including ride easiness has been studied under different handle conditions such as pulse brake handle and normal brake handle. Braking performance under different handle conditions was compared and a high quality design was acquired.

Abstract:This paper proposes a hypothesis that ABS(Anti-Brake System) regulation of EVs (Electric Vehicles) could be achieved only by wheel motors. Based on the logic threshold method, an ABS control strategy is designed to verify the hypothesis. Furthermore, a model called four wheel motor drive EV model is originated with this control strategy, and co-simulated in both AMESim and MATLAB/Simulink. Finally, according to the rule ECE R13, this ABS control strategy for EVs is validated in theory.

Abstract:An Integrated Controller of semi-active suspension system and Vehicle Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) using a quarter-car model and a single wheel-car braking model is built on the basis of the sliding mode control theory. The adjusting of the suspension control system aims at improving suspension performance as well as the braking force while braking. The adjusting of the ABS aims at getting the optimal sliding rate of the wheel and advancing braking performance. SIMULINK software is used to verify the effectiveness of the integrated controller in the normal driving condition and the braking condition. The simulation results show that when in normal driving condition, the Body Acceleration, the Suspension Working Space and the Dynamic Tyre Displacement were effectively inhibited, and the vehicle's ride and comfort were significantly improved; While in braking condition, the integrated controller can not only effectively prevent the wheel being locked, significantly shortening the braking distance and braking time, but also can improve the vehicle's comfort. The integrated sliding mode controller shows good control performance.

Abstract:The models of complete vehicle and all grades of stochastic uneven road are built in ADAMS and the gate threshold control for ABS is set up in MATLAB/simulink.By co-simulation with ADAMS and Matlab,the influence of stochastic uneven road on ABS is studied and the variations of some important parameters,such as wheel longitudinal force,wheel rotation speed and braking distance during ABS braking on stochastic uneven road are obtained.This provides a basis for taking the anti-disturbance measures for ABS on stochastic uneven road.

Abstract:This Paper focus, on the different stages associated with the advancement of Automobile Braking Control system. Different V-Models (SIL, MIL, HIL, and DIL) are contrasted with the proposed V model for Hydraulic antilock braking system. The main objective of this research is to enable various loop simulations used in a variety of automotive industries, in order to analyze the performance of different safety functions. A vehicle model is used to represent a real vehicle in a model-based environment. Vehicle model is a sophisticated component, which makes use of two wheeler dynamics concepts to achieve a real vehicle behavior. In this research, an attempt is made to elaborate the various automotive simulations used starting from model in loop simulation to Driver in loop Simulation approaches followed by a V-diagram approach to develop the product. Here an ABS controller is taken as an example model for simulation.

Abstract:The difference of Anti-lock Braking System(ABS) for two-wheel and four-wheel drive cars is analyzed.The influences of center differential lock and rear differential lock on ABS are studied.Several techniques are proposed to solve these problems.When rear differential is locked,the Yaw Moment Control method is taken to improve stability on split-μ roads.When center differential is locked,the decreasing threshold is adopted,which can help to calculate the reference speed.With ADAMS and Matlab co-simulation,the techniques are verified.At last,some of the techniques are proved by road tests.

Abstract:The accessibility and adjustability of the brake system pressure give more control freedom to the vehicle dynamics control. Pneumatic braking system works as the most common form in vehicles, whose overall model is the basis for pressure estimation and control. This paper analyzes the coupling relationship of the relay valve, ABS valve, pipeline and braking cylinder in the pneumatic braking system. The dynamic performances of each component including the electrical, electromagnetic, mechanical and fluid performance are studied. In the fluid modeling, the distributed model is proposed further for describing the behavior of compressible gas in pipelines. Next, the pressure estimation algorithm and the rule-based pressure control strategy are designed based on the proposed model. Finally, the proposed model and strategy is verified in bench and vehicle experiments. The results show that the models are able to represent the behavior of the typical pneumatic braking system, and the pressure estimation and control based on it meets the application needs of real vehicles.

Abstract:Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of Automobile Engineering, Ahead of Print. The antilock braking system (ABS) is a representative technology to improve the safety of hard braking in automobiles. The slip rate control has been a challenging issue due to the complicated characteristics of tires and the strong nonlinearity of the system. In this paper, a novel adaptive finite-time controller for ABS is developed to improve braking performance. Different from the current control strategies for ABS, the extended finite-time stability theory and state constraint are comprehensively considered in the proposed control strategy. The extended finite-time stability theory is applied to deal with the system uncertainties, by which the convergence of slip rate tracking error is achieved. And the asymmetric tan-type barrier Lyapunov function (BLF) is used to ensure that the wheel slip ratio is within a smaller and more stable area. Finally, according to the simulation and experiment, compared with the existing BLF controller, a faster convergence rate, better robustness and anti-disturbance performance of ABS can be achieved with the proposed strategy.

Abstract:Anti-lock Braking System is one of the most important safety devices for vehicles. Wheel acceleration and slip are the main control variable of ABS. Because motion exists between the suspension and vehicle body, when driving on uneven road or braking, wheel acceleration and slip will be disturbed. A virtual prototype of vehicle is established and analyzed by using ADAMS software. Influences of suspension parameters, such as longitudinal stiffness and longitudinal damp on wheel accelerations and slip are studied. It provides some suggestions for vehicle design.

Abstract:Recently safety systems for the commercial vehicle have been rapidly developed. However, we still have many problems in the vehicle stability and the braking performance. Especially, a commercial vehicle may meet a dangerous braking condition when the vehicle is lightly loaded or empty and when the road is wet or slippery. Under these conditions, the truck can spin out or the tractor can jackknife or the trailer can swing out. To design the air brake system for the commercial vehicle, since the air brake system has many design variables, there must have been intensive researches on a method how to prevent dynamic instability and how to maximize vehicle deceleration. In this study, mathematical models of the tractor-semitrailer and the air brake system including an ABS controller have been constructed for computer simulation. Also, simple examples are applied to show the usefulness of the program. Designers can use this simulation program for understanding the braking characteristics such as trajectory, braking distance, longitudinal deceleration, lateral deceleration, and yaw rate on various braking conditions.

Abstract:A failure of the pneumatic ABS (anti-lock braking system) weakens the braking performance of commercial vehicles. It affects the driving safety of vehicles. There are four typical failure modes that include: the failure of the pilot inlet solenoid valve and pilot exhaust solenoid valve of the pressure regulator, the failure of the series dual-chamber brake valve, and the failure of the relay valve. In order to study the braking performance and the rule of vehicles under the failure modes of the pneumatic ABS, the co-simulation model of the pneumatic ABS of the commercial vehicle was established based on AMESim and Simulink softwares. The gas path subsystem of the pneumatic ABS and the vehicle model were built based on AMESim. The controller was established based on Simulink/Stateflow. The data were transmitted between the AMESim and Simulink software by using the data interface block. The co-simulation model was validated by tests. The results showed that the maximum error of the braking deceleration is 13.51%. The model can simulate the braking process of the vehicle well. Based on this, the four typical failure modes of the pneumatic ABS were simulated, and the influences of different failure modes on the braking ability were analyzed. The influence of failure ratio on braking distance in four modes was obtained. It can be seen from the simulation results that the failure of the pilot inlet solenoid valve and the pilot exhaust solenoid valve of the pressure regulator cause the wheel lock. The failure of the lower chamber of the brake valve and the failure of the relay valve have a great influence on the braking distance.

Abstract:Nowadays, better driving also means better braking. To this end, vehicle designers must find all failures during the design phase of antilock braking systems which play an important role in automobiles safety. However, mechatronic systems are so complex and failures can be badly identified. So it is necessary to propose a design approach of an antilock braking system which will be able to avoid wheels locking during braking and maintain vehicle stability. This paper describes this approach, in which we model the functional and the dysfunctional behavior of an antilock braking system using stopwatch Petri nets.

Abstract:A 15 degree of freedom vehicle dynamics model based on Matlab/Simulink is used to research the control effects and the control rules of the brake pressure control modes of ASR system. The modes include using wheel slip as control parameter, using wheel acceleration as control parameter and using the combination of these two parameters. Examples of good control effects of these control modes are given. Real vehicle experiments verify the validity of the simulation model and the effectiveness of the control modes. This work can give theoretical direction when control algorithm for vehicle is to be made and matched.
