Abstract:The Semantic Web is the next generation of the Web. It provides a common framework that allows data to be shared and reused across application, enterprise, and community boundaries. Semantic Web technologies facilitate building a large-scale Web of machine-readable and machine-understandable knowledge, and thus facilitate data reuse and integration so that the new generation of the Web can provide better applications and services. Abstract:This paper proposes the concept of extension knowledge space(EKS),builds the corresponding operations for EKS,and then establishes the models of semantic web of extension knowledge space(SWEKS)and extension knowledge grid(EKG)based on EKS.We analyze the construction processes of these models in detail.A series of corresponding problems is also discussed,for example,the computing method for correlative function of EKS,corresponding actions of EKS operations in SWEKS and EKG services etc.They have great significance for large scale extension problem computing.

Abstract:Geo-Knowledge which is known as semantic enriched geographic information plays an important role in many intelligent applications like named-entity recognition and information retrieval. With the development of Internet, volunteers on web-based crowdsourcing platforms like OpenStreetMap (OSM) and Wikidata have contributed big geographic data which however have not been widely studied towards extracting and linking geo-knowledge. In this paper, we presented a crowdsourced geographic knowledge graph named CrowdGeoKG which extracted different kinds of geo-entities from OpenStreetMap and enriched them with human geography knowledge from Wikidata. We further exploited the part of CrowdGeoKG in China, studying the linkage between OpenStreetMap geo-entities and Wikidata geo-entities. CrowdGeoKG is stored in both RDF (Resource Description Framework) and JSON-LD formats, and shared for re-usage on an open knowledge graph community named OpenKG.

Abstract:With the explosion of healthcare information, there has been a tremendous amount of heterogeneous textual medical knowledge (TMK), which plays an essential role in healthcare information systems. Existing works for integrating and utilizing the TMK mainly focus on straightforward connections establishment and pay less attention to make computers interpret and retrieve knowledge correctly and quickly. In this paper, we explore a novel model to organize and integrate the TMK into conceptual graphs. We then employ a framework to automatically retrieve knowledge in knowledge graphs with a high precision. In order to perform reasonable inference on knowledge graphs, we propose a contextual inference pruning algorithm to achieve efficient chain inference. Our algorithm achieves a better inference result with precision and recall of 92% and 96%, respectively, which can avoid most of the meaningless inferences. In addition, we implement two prototypes and provide services, and the results show our approach is practical and effective.

A Semantic Framework for Chinese Historical Events Based on Linked Data and Knowledge Graph.

Abstract:In the era of big data, data redundancy has become an obstacle to deep reading. The objective of linked data as a new data organization model is to transform data into structured data following unified standards. The lack of Chinese conceptual terms has seriously hindered the semantization and standardization of Chinese domain ontology. Taking Chinese historical events as an example, ontology technology is used in this paper to standardize the definition of concepts and semantic relations in domain knowledge. Moreover, concepts from text resources are extracted through a deep learning algorithm Bi-LSTM-CRFs and combined with an external knowledge base to realize the fusion of related data within various data sets. Ultimately, the knowledge ontology of historical events is displayed in the way of a knowledge graph to further explore the practical application. The results show that the accuracy of the terms extraction of historical events is about 80% indicating the good recognition performance and portability of the model.

Abstract:With the rise of artificial intelligence, knowledge graphs have been widely considered as a cornerstone of AI. In recent years, an increasing number of large-scale knowledge graphs have been constructed and published, by both academic and industrial communities, such as DBpedia, YAGO, Wikidata, Google Knowledge Graph, Microsoft Satori, Facebook Entity Graph, and others. In fact, a knowledge graph is essentially a large network of entities, their properties, semantic relationships between entities, and ontologies the entities conform to. Such kind of graph-based knowledge data has been posing a great challenge to the traditional data management theories and technologies. In this paper, we introduce the state-of-the-art research on knowledge graph data management, which includes knowledge graph data models, query languages, storage schemes, query processing, and reasoning. We will also describe the latest development trends of various database management systems for knowledge graphs.

Abstract:This panel will focus on the cutting-edge computation methods, which can be applied to knowledge graph, such as latest NLP technologies to extract entities and relationships to build knowledge graphs, machine learning or deep learning methods on mining knowledge graph, and intelligent search or recommendations powered by knowledge graphs. Panelists are: Professor and the Vice Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Tsinghua University. I obtained my Ph.D. in DCST of Tsinghua University in 2006. My research interests include artificial intelligence, data mining, social networks, machine learning and knowledge graph, with an emphasis on designing new algorithms for mining social and knowledge networks. My research focuses on mining and modeling large social and information networks, their evolution, and diffusion of information and influence over them. Abstract:The Semantic Knowledge-base of Contemporary Chinese (SKCC) is a large scale Chinese semantic resource developed by the Institute of Computational Linguistics of Peking University. It provides a large amount of semantic information such as semantic hierarchy and collocation features for 66,539 Chinese words and their English counterparts. Its POS and semantic classification represent the latest progress in Chinese linguistics and language engineering. The descriptions of semantic attributes are fairly thorough, comprehensive and authoritative. The paper introduces the outline of SKCC, and indicates that it is effective for word sense disambiguation in MT applications and is likely to be important for general Chinese language processing.

Abstract:Linked Data is an open data space that emerges from the publication and interlinking of structured data on the Web using the Semantic Web technologies. How to utilize this wealth of data is currently a focused research theme of the Semantic Web community. In this paper, we aim to utilize Linked Data to generate semantic annotations for frequent patterns extracted from textual documents. First, we extract semantic relations from textual documents and merge them into a set of semantic graphs. Then, we apply a frequent subgraph discovery algorithm on the set of graphs to generate frequent patterns. Finally, we annotate the discovered patterns using Linked Data. Our approach can be applied in such domains as terrorist network analysis and biological network analysis. The efficacy of our approach is demonstrated through an empirical experiment that discovers and validates relationships between political figures from large number of news on the Web.

Abstract:This book is not restricted to semantic web (SW) technologies. An aspiration was to contribute to the awakening of a dialogue between information and documentation concerned with knowledge organization systems (KOSs), and branches in computer science with an emphasis on machines, algorithms and ontologies. The technological evolution of the last decades has not only fostered the emergence of ever more KOSs but also semantic web technologies. Both the actions of 'making a KOS' and 'applying existing KOSs' represent research. The design of an information layer for a knowledge domain and the design of a domain specific research process are intrinsically interwoven. We extended our intervention to KOS practices into education, by presenting a translation of existing standards and recommendations about linked open data (LOD) publishing for non-experts. The chapters describe the state of the art in providing KOSs as semantic artefacts; how the state of the art is applied in new fields; how the state of the art is pushed towards new technological solutions by being confronted with new applications; how best practices need to be tailored towards specific solutions; and what challenges occur when merging new and old ways of expressing KOSs. The linked data (LD) ecosystem represents a source of knowledge generation, acquisition, production and dissemination. The underlying discourse shows historical vision alongside the promise of linking knowledge for interaction. The already maturing ecosystems of the SW are interlocking information institutions clearly devoted to the expansion of human experience through the growth of knowledge interaction.
