Study of the Evolution of Chinese Ancient Painting Academy

Abstract:In Chinese history, the process of the formation and development of the organizational system of the painting academy is of long standing. It came out from the court painting and flourished with its flourish. The period of the Song painting academy was the most flourishing one in Chinese history and had a profound influence on the arts history. These influences rooted from three aspects: first, the change of the styles and thoughts of the artists; second, the change of the organizational system of the painting academy; third, the change of the expressive topics to Chinese flower-and-bird paintings and landscape ones. By studying the evolution of Chinese ancient painting academy, we get the following conclusions: The identity of the artist has got a tendency towards the literati; The tasks and the theme have changed into the appreciative Chinese flower-and-bird paintings and landscape ones from human beings and their anecdotes; the painting style has changed from expressing the visages of the nature into the gusto of nature, and further into the interest of the tableau.
