Meta Analysis of the Clinical Efficiency of Gangliosides on Children with Cerebral Palsy.

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficiency of gangliosides(GM-1) in the treatment of cerebral palsy(CP).Methods Eligible studies were identified by searching Cochrane library,MedLine,CNKI and VIP.No language restrictions were applied.Two reviewers assessed the quality of included studies and extracted data and processed meta-analysis.All randomized and quasi-randomized trials comparing treatment with and without gangliosides with clinical endpoints were reviewed.Development quotient(DQ) was measured by Gesell.RevMan 4.3.2 was used to do the statistical analysis.Results Four trials involving 325 patients with cerebral palsy were included.All trials were case-control trials.Meta analysis indicated that using the gangliosides could alter the symptoms and signs for the better[RR=1.24,95%CI(0.95, 1.62)],and developmental quotient values increased[RR=1.20,95%CI(1.06,1.36)],and there were statistic significance.Conclusion Gangliosides combined with other treatments can improve the manifestations and developmental quotient of cerebral palsy.However,due to all included trials are not randomized trial controlled(RTC),and numbers of patients of these trials are relatively small,more well-designed multi-center randomized controlled trials should be performed.
