Abstract:Two new polyketides (1-2), four new norterpenoids (3-6), together with five known compounds (7-11) were isolated from the marine sponge Diacarnus megaspinorhabdosa. The new structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic analyses, ECD spectra comparison, and Mosher's method. The cytotoxicities towards six cancer cell lines together with the antimicrobial activity against methicillinresistant Staphylococcus aureus, Canadida albicans, and Escherichia coli were valuated. Compound 10 showed cytotoxicities towards cancer cell lines SW480, NCl-H460, PC-9, and HepG2, with IC50 3.7, 7.8, 6.2 and 8.0 mu M respectively. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract:As part of our efforts toward search for structurally new and bioactive natural products from marine-derived microorganisms, one new compound (1) was characterized from a marine-derived actinomycete Streptomyces sp. SS13M. The structure of new compound was elucidated by the analysis of HRESIMS, 1D, and 2D NMR spectroscopic data, and the absolute configuration was determined by ECD calculations.

Abstract:Three new spiro-sesquiterpenoids, myrmekiones A-C (1-3), were isolated from the marine sponge Myrmekioderma sp. collected from the South China Sea. The structures of 1-3 were experimentally illuminated though comprehensive NMR spectra, X-ray diffraction analysis and calculated ECD. These three compounds possessed a special spiro skeleton. Compound 1 was characterized by a chamigrane-type structure, it is the first time to obtain the single-crystal of this type of oil compounds. 2 and 3 were a pair of diastereoisomers that possessed an acorane skeleton. This study expands the chemical diversity of marine origin spiro-metabolites.

Abstract:Five new norditerpene endoperoxides, named diacarperoxides H-L (1-5), and a new norditerpene diol, called diacardiol B (6), were isolated from the South China Sea sponge, Diacarnus megaspinorhabdosa. Their structures, including conformations and absolute configurations, were determined by using spectroscopic analyses, computational approaches and chemical degradation. Diacarperoxides H-J (1-3) showed some interesting stereochemical issues, as well as antimalarial activity.

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the chemical constituents in the South China Sea marine sponge Axinella sp. Methods: Various chromatography techniques (silica gel, preparative TLC, Sephadex LH-20 and semi-preparative HPLC) were performed to isolate and purify the extracts. The structures were identified mainly by extensive spectral data analysis. Results:Seven compounds were isolated and their structures were identified as debromohymenialdisine (1), hymenialdisine (2), aldisin (3), 3-bromoaldisin (4), niacinamide (5), thymine (6), uracil(7). Conclusion:Compounds 1-4 are specific bromopyrrole alkaloids of marine sponges, and compounds 5, 6, 7 are isolated for the first time from the genus Axinella.

Abstract:A new eunicellane diterpenoid, named sinensin (1), together with six known compounds, namely 13-deacetoxyl decalicophirin B (2), calicophirin B (3), calicophirin C (4), astrogorgin (5), calicoferol E (6) and calicoferol B (7), has been isolated from the gorgonian Muricella sinensis from the South China sea. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and by comparison with the data reported in literature.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate the secondary metabolites from Chinese marine Sponge Cinachyrella australiensis.METHODS:Column chromatography techniques including HPLC were used for the separation and purification of the compounds, and extensive spectral analyses including various 2D NMR spectra were employed for structure elucidation.RESULTS:Nineteen compounds were obtained,including 2-methyoxy-6,12,15-trien-8-yne-octadecanoic acid (1), 2-benzenedicarboxylic acid dibutyl ester(2), 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid bis(2-ethylhexyl)ester(3), (-) (3S)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-beta-carboline-3-carboxylic acid(4), L-Tryptophan (5), p-hydroxylbenzaldehyde (6), p-hydroxyl-benzylethanol(7), p-hydroxyl-benzyl-propanol(8), cholesta-4-en-3-ol(9), 2-methyl-6-amino-9-(2-deoxy-beta-D- ribofuranosyl-purine(10), 2'-Deoxyadenosine (11), 6-amino-9-beta-D-ribofuranosyl-9H-purine (12),uracil(13), thymine(14), thymidine(15), 1-(2-deoxy-beta-D-Ribofuranosyl) uracil(16), 1-ethyl-alpha-(2-deoxy)-beta-D-ribofuranos(17),isolumichrome(18),and zarzissine(19).CONCLUSION:Compounds 1 and 18 are new natural products,and compounds 2 to 17 as well as 19 are isolated from this species for the first time.

Abstract:A bioassay-guided chemical investigation of the South China Sea sponge Acanthella cavernosa resulted in the isolation of eight new diterpenoids, kalihinols M–T (1–8), together with seven known analogues (9–15). These compounds featured a trans-decalin ring bearing a tetrahydrofuran or a tetrahydropyran ring at C-7. Compounds 1 and 2, with a formamide functionality beared at C-4, extended the structure breadth of this diterpenoid family. The absolute stereostructures of 1–14 were determined by a combination of 2D NMR and CD spectroscopic analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compounds 1 and 2 were confirmed to have the configurations of 4S, 5S, whereas 3–14 were determined as 4R, 5R. Compounds 3–14 displayed significant antifouling activity against the barnacle Balanus amphitrite larvae, and the cytotoxic activities of 3–14 were evaluated against the H1299, A549, PC3, CT-26, and HCT-116 cancer cell lines.

Abstract:A new sesquiterpene, (+)-19-methylaminoavarone (1), together with six known compounds (2?7), were isolated from the Xisha Islands marine sponge Dysidea sp. The structures were elucidated based on their spectroscopic data. We revised the carbon spectrum data of the compound 2. The absolute configurations of compounds 1 and 2 were further confirmed by electronic circular dichroism (ECD) analysis. Compounds 1?3 and 5?7 showed potent cytotoxic activity against several human cancer cell lines.

Abstract:Granulosane A (1), a new C27 bishomoscalarane sesterterpenoid with a rare 6/6/6/8 tetracyclic skeleton, together with eight additional new C27 bishomoscalarane sesterterpenes (2, 8-14) and five new C26 20,24-bishomo-25-norscalarane sesterterpenes (3-7), were isolated from the marine sponge Dysidea granulosa collected in the South China Sea. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis and quantum chemical calculation methods. Compound 4 showed antiproliferative activities against two cancer cell lines.

Abstract:One new cytochalasin metabolite [11]-cytochalasa-5(6),13-diene-1,21-dione-7,18-dihydroxy-16,18-dimethyl-10-phenyl-(7S*,13E,16S*,18R*) (1), together with three known compounds (2–4) were obtained from the EtOAc extract of the endophytic fungus Daldinia eschscholtzii HJ001 isolated from the mangrove Brguiera sexangula var. rhynchopetala collected in the South China Sea. Their structures were elucidated by the detailed analysis of comprehensive spectroscopic data. Compounds 1 and 2 were evaluated for their antibacterial and cytotoxic activities.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the chemical constituents of the marine sponge Theonella swinhoei collected from the Xisha Islands in the South China Sea .Methods The petroleum ether and dichloromethane extract of the marine sponge T . swinhoei were purified by solvent extraction and chromatographic methods including vacuum liquid chromatography (VLC) , medium pressureliquidchromatography(MPLC),thinlayerchromatography(TLC)onsilicagel,highperformanceliquidchro-matography(HPLC) ,and Sephadex LH-20 .The chemical structures were determined by spectroscopic analysis and comparison with the reported data .Results Eight compounds were isolated and their structures were determined as cholest-7-ene-3β,5α, 6β-triol (1) ,ergosta-7 ,22-diene-3β,5α,6β-triol (2) ,25-norcycloartane-3β,6α,16β,24-tetraol (3) ,sinuflexibilin D (4) ,14-de-oxycrassin (5) ,N-(2-phenylethyl)-(9Z)-tetradecanamide(6) ,N-(2-phenylethyl)-tetradecanamide (7) ,7 ,8-dimethyl-isoallox-azine (8) .Conclusion Compounds 1～ 7 were isolated from the sponge of genus Theonella for the first time .

Abstract:To investigate the secondary metabolites from the marine sponge Hyrtios sp.of South China Sea,seven compounds were isolated from the dichloromethane extraction of Hyrtios sp.by Silica gel,ODS and HPLC.Their structures were identified by spectroscopic analysis and comparison with the literature as smenospongimine (1),smenospongiarine (2),sesquiter-penyl-amyl-amino-hydroxy-quinone (3),smenospongidine (4),dictyoceratin C (5),dictyoceratin A (6) and polyfibrospongol A (7),respectively.Compounds 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 were isolated from the genus of Hyrtios for the first time.

Abstract:Two new eunicellin-based diterpenoids, sibogins A (1) and B (2), along with one known analogue (3), and four known 9,10-secosteroids (4-7), were isolated from the gorgonian Muricella sibogae Nutting collected from the South China Sea. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by comprehensive analysis of spectroscopic data, especially by using 2D NMR spectra. The antifouling activity on barnacle Balanus amphitrite and lethality towards brine shrimp Artemia salina of all the isolated compounds were evaluated.

Abstract:Two new norterpenes dicarperoxides M and N and one new polyketide diacarnustin C were isolated from the marine sponge Diacarnus megaspinorhabdosa. Detailed spectroscopic analysis guided the elucidation of their structure. Structurally, dicarperoxides M and N incorporate a typical norterpene cyclic peroxide core, while diacarnustin C is noteworthy in that it contains an alpha, beta-unsaturated ester unit linked to a furan ring. Dicarperoxides M and N displayed moderate cytotoxicity against THP-1 (IC50 values of 15.3 and 20.6 mu M, respectively) and u937 cells (IC50 values of 13.4 and 25.7 mu M, respectively). Abstract:A detailed chemical investigation of the South China Sea nudibranch Hexabranchus sanguineus, as well as its possible sponge‐prey Acanthella cavernosa, led to the isolation of fifteen new nitrogenous sesquiterpenoids, namely ximaocavernosins A−O, including seven cadinanes (1—7), seven spiroaxanes (12—18) and one aromadendrane (19), together with thirteen known related compounds (8—11 and 20—28). Compounds (±)‐1—9 (except for 4 and 6) were further separated by chiral‐phase HPLC to their corresponding unequal enantiomers, respectively. Their structures and absolute configurations were determined by a combination of extensive spectroscopic data analysis, quantum mechanical nuclear magnetic resonance (QM‐NMR) methods, Mosher's method, X‐ray diffraction analysis and/or time‐dependent density functional theory/electronic circular dichroism (TDDFT‐ECD) calculation. The commonly existed nitrogenous sesquiterpenoids in these two animals are suggested to be chemical markers for their prey‐predator relationship. Fifteen new nitrogenous sesquiterpenoids were isolated from the South China Sea nudibranch Hexabranchus sanguineus and its possible sponge‐prey Acanthella cavernosa. Seven compounds were further separated by chiral‐phase HPLC to their corresponding unequal enantiomers, respectively. Four commonly existed nitrogenous sesquiterpenoids in these two animals are suggested to be chemical markers for their prey‐predator relationship.

Abstract:Three new phenolic bisabolane-type sesquiterpenoids: (+)-methyl sydowate (1), 7-deoxy-7,14-didehydrosydonic acid (2), and 7-deoxy-7,8-didehydrosydonic acid (3), together with two known fungal metabolites were isolated from the fermentation broth of a marine-derived fungus Aspergillus sp., which was isolated in turn from a gorgonian Dichotella gemmacea collected from the South China Sea. Their structures were elucidated by combined spectroscopic methods, and the structure of 1 was further confirmed by single-crystal X-ray data.

Abstract:Three indole compounds(namely 1H-Indole-3-carboxaldehyde(1),1H-Indole-3-carboxylic acid(2),and ethyl 1H-Indole-3-carboxylate(3)) and 3-β-5-en-cholest(4) were isolated from the south China sea sponge,Xetospongia testudinaria,by repeatedly silica gel and Sephedex LH-20 chromatography.Their structures were identified by extensive spectroscopic analysis together with NMR、IR and EI(ESI)-MS spectrum,and further determined by comparing their physical and chemical data with the literature.All the identified compounds are isolated from the sponge,Xetospongia testudinaria,at the first time.
