Assessment of postoperative quality of life in patients with laryngeal carcinoma and the psychological and behavioral intervention

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To sum up postoperative quality of life and psychological and behavioral intervention on laryngeal carcinoma and ameliorate the clinical therapy and nursing scheme of laryngeal carcinoma. DATA SOURCES:The Medline database was undertaken to identify the literatures of assessment of quality of life in patients with cancer published from February 1982 to January 2006 with the key words of "carcinoma,quality of life,laryngeal carcinoma" in English. Simultaneously,CNKI was undertaken to identify the same articles published between January 1994 and January 2006 with the key words of "carcinoma,quality of life,laryngeal carcinoma" in Chinese. STUDY SELECTION:Literatures of quality of life in patients with cancer were selected firstly,and full-texts of them were checked. Inclusive criteria were those articles of:①assessment of quality of life in patients with cancer,②psychological and behavioral intervention,social intervention,clinical intervention in patients with cancer,and ③treat and quality of life. Exclusive criteria were those articles of repetitive study and individual case report. DATA EXTRACTION:A total of 80 articles were searched,of them,16 representative articles were selected. The concept source,development and effect of quality of life in patients with cancer as well as application in cancer patients were explored in these articles,respectively. DATA SYNTHESIS:①Assessment of quality of life:Concept,content,history,scale,application and prospect of quality of life were introduced. Quality of life included somatic function,emotional or mental function,social function,the disease,symptom and body sign due to treatment,economic condition and so on. A qualified quality of life scale could not only reflect the quality and quantity of life,disease,therapy scheme,influence of patients' expectation on quality of life,cost,but also some objective indexes such as physiology,function,society and so on. ②Assessment of postoperative quality of life in patients with laryngeal carcinoma:The research showed that the study method of perfect quality of life was two combinations that were the combination of quantity (analysis of survival rate) and quality (analysis of quality of life) and combination of descriptive study and analytic study. ③Postoperative intervention contained comprehensive methods of psychological and behavioral intervention,social intervention,clinical intervention. CONCLUSION:The comprehension of psychological and behavioral intervention,social intervention and clinical intervention is conducted by evaluating the postoperative quality of life in patients with laryngeal carcinoma. Actual effect induced by physical dysfunction is reduced and throat function is ameliorated,which is helpful to improve the living state of patients in economics and enhance the postoperative quality of life in patients with laryngeal carcinoma.
