Abstract:Under the background of the new curriculum reform,the orientations of educational periodicals remain as they were.According to the reform,the writing and publishing of research papers on teaching is an important index of the professional development of basic-education staff,and so educational periodicals should play a part,as they used to,in facilitating the teacher development.At present,most of the educational periodicals meant for primary and secondary school teachers adhere to the basic principle of practicality in accepting contributions,which involves three priorities,i.e.: "priority of micro-over macro-study","priority of direct over indirect study" and "priority of general over particular study".It is,therefore,quite necessary to help primary and secondary school teachers to understand this practicality intention of the educational periodicals.The intention can be addressed from four perspectives,namely,"problem-solving","comparison","generalization" and "innovation";while each of the four perspectives covers its own connotation of practicality,they share the same purpose of providing insight to the teachers and facilitating the latter's professional development via the study of teaching.

Abstract:Most of problems in schools are well-structured problems,but problems we must face in life are ill-structured.Well-structured problems solving includes representing problems by schema activation,searching solutions,and implementing solutions.Structural knowledge and domain-specific knowledge are critical components in solving well-structured problems.Ill-structured problems solving includes reading problem statement,deciding the existence of the problem,determining the nature of the problem,delineating the causes of the problem,identifing and clariting alternative options,generating and choosing possible solutions,and evaluating and implementing the solution.The critical components of ill-structured problems solving includes regulation of cognition,epistemic cognition and non-cognitive components including affect,attitude and so on.In sum,there are existing atotof differences in nature of problems,processes of solving problems and components for solving problems between well-structured and ill-structured problems solving.

Abstract:Based on the analyses of the titles from the works of the challenge cup winners,this paper discusses the basic principles of the topic choice in the challenge cup competition. The topic selection way and the topic selection strategy were elucidated respectively,from the ten aspects of hot issue,social need,hands- on practice,blank region, opinion query,historical problem,academic debate,reverse think,repeated deliberation,failure cases and the four perspectives of analogy,antithesis,transformation and transplant. Finally,the topic selection taboos were briefly described.

Abstract:Regional culture sections widely exist as featured sections in local college journals. Such sections are necessary, but the section sustainability and paper quality show narrow prospects in general, due to the limitation of research group members and journal assessment methods. Set in the digitalization of periodicals, regional culture features should make breakthroughs and embody global view, issue awareness and planning ability in terms of section development. The sections should break categories down into speciifc issues, make highlights with special topics, and take advantage of scholar repertoire, so as to ensure the high quality, and to improve the popularity and inlfuence of the sections.

Abstract:This case study examines how editors select stories for a Chinese-language publication’s WeChat public account. Results of a content analysis between May and August 2014 indicate that editors do not strictly rely on established news values to select WeChat stories. News categories better predict story decisions. Furthermore, news-category priorities identified in interviews with editors closely match what readers want to see.

Abstract:Peer review has become the most widely-used mechanism to judge the quality of submitted papers at academic conferences or journals. However, a challenging task in peer review is to assign papers to appropriate reviewers. Both the research directions of reviewers and topics of submitted papers are often multifaceted. Besides, reviewers' research direction may change over time and their published papers closer to current time reflect their current research direction better. Hence in this paper, we present a time-aware and topic-based reviewer assignment model. We first crawl papers published by reviewers over years from web, and then build a time-aware reviewers' personal profile using topic model to represent the expertise of reviewers. Then the relevant degree between reviewer and submitted paper is calculated through the similarity measure. In addition, by considering statistical characteristics such as TF-IDF of the papers, the matching degree between reviewer and submitted paper is further improved. At the same time, we also consider the quality of all past reviews to measure the reviewers' present reviews. Extensive experiments on a real-world dataset demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
