Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between cytokines IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, IFN-γ and the degree of coronary artery stenosis Methods 93 patients with coronary heart disease(CHD) were divided into three groups according to the degree of coronary artery stenosis:minor group, 26 subjects; moderate group, 33 subjects; serious groups, 34 subjects Serum cytokines in the patients were detected with enzyme linked immune absorption assay(ELISA), compared with those in 30 outpatient check-up persons Results IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α and IFN-γ in CHD patients were significantly higher than those in control group In addition, there existed consistence between cytokines levels and coronary artery stenosis degree Conclusion cytokines IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, IFN-γ were significantly correlated with coronary stenosis, which imply that cytokines may injure vascular endothelial cells and lead to the coronary artery stenosis Additional, these cytokines levels may be able to be as new markers for surveillance on coronary artery stenosis

Abstract:Ca 2+ /nuclear factor of activated T-cells (Ca 2+ /NFAT) signaling pathway may play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of Kawasaki disease (KD). We investigated the poorly understood Ca 2+ /NFAT regulation of coronary artery endothelial cells and consequent dysfunction in KD pathogenesis. Human coronary artery endothelial cells (HCAECs) stimulated with sera from patients with KD, compared with sera from healthy children, exhibited significant increases in proliferation and angiogenesis, higher levels of NFATc1 and NFATc3 and some inflammatory molecules, and increased nuclear translocation of NFATc1 and NFATc3. HCAECs stimulated with sera from patients with KD treated with cyclosporine A (CsA) showed decreased proliferation, angiogenesis, NFATc1 and inflammatory molecules levels as compared with results for untreated HCAECs. In conclusion, our data reveal that KD sera activate the Ca 2+ /NFAT in HCAECs, leading to dysfunction and inflammation of endothelial cells. CsA has cytoprotective effects by ameliorating endothelial cell homeostasis via Ca 2+ /NFAT.
The correlation between nuclear factor kappa B expressed in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and the characteristics of coronary atherosclerosis plaque in patients with acute coronary syndrome

Abstract:Objective To explore the correlation between expression of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappa B) in peripheral blood monouclear cells(PBMC) and the severity of coronary artery lesion in patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS). Methods The 81 patients were diagnosed with coronary heart disease, and all of them underwent immediate or selective coronary angiography(CAG) The nuclear protein level of activated NF-B was detected by Western blot and semi-quantity image analysis was done. Coronary angiograms were scored according to Gensini integration. The relationship between NF-κB and Gensini score was analyzed. Results The protein expression of NF-κB in PBMC in ACS group was significantly higher than that in stable angina group and control group (0.85±0.18 vs. O.75±0.21 and 0.71±0.23, F=3.72, P<0.05). The protein expression of NF-κB was not correlated with Gensini score(r=0.07, P>0.05). Conclusions The ACS patients have the activation of NF-κB in PBMC. The protein expression of NF-κB is not correlated with Gensini score, which does not suggest an implication of the severity of coronary artery.
The Relationship Between NF-κB Activity of Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cell and Cardiovascular Disease(cvd) in Patients of Maintenance Hemodialysis(mhd)

Abstract:Objective To measure the nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB) activity of peripheral blood mononuclear cell(PBMC) and to observe the relationship between NF-κB activity and cardiovascular disease(CVD) in maintenance hemodialysis(MHD) patients.Methods Blood was obtained from 32 MHD patients before and after undergoing hemodialysis and 12 age-matched healthy subjects.Nuclear extracts NF-κB activity of PBMC and plasma pentraxin3(PTX3) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay(ELISA).Pearson correlation and linear regression were used to assess the relationship between NF-κB activity and other laboratory parameters.Binary logistic regression was used to assess the association of NF-κB activity and CVD in MHD patients.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves were used to assess the association with NF-κB activity,PTX3,high sensitive C-reactive protein(hsCRP) and CVD in MHD patients.Results NF-κB activity of PBMC,PTX3 and hsCRP were significantly higher in MHD patients compared with controls.After a single HD session NF-κB activity of PBMC and PTX3 increased acutely.Patients with CVD had higher NF-κB activity than non-CVD patients.In all MHD patients NF-κB activity correlated positively with white blood cell count(r=0.454,P=0.009),hsCRP(r=0.590,P0.001),PTX3(r=0.680,P0.001),cardiac troponin T(r=0.409,P=0.020) and carotid artery intima-media thickness(r=0.541,P=0.011).Linear regression analysis showed that white blood cell count(β=0.338,P=0.028),hsCRP(β=0.440,P=0.005),PTX3(β=0.487,P=0.004) and carotid artery intima-media thickness(β=0.453,P=0.032) were independently associated with NF-κB activity.High NF-κB activity was positively and independently associated with CVD(OR=8.47,P=0.022).ROC curves analysis showed the association between NF-κB activity and CVD was more closely than PTX3 and hsCRP.The areas under the curve for NF-κB activity,PTX3 and hsCRP were 0.791(95%CI 0.633-0.950,P=0.006),0.785(95%CI 0.628-0.943,P=0.007) and 0.711(95%CI 0.514-0.907,P=0.046),respectively.Conclusions NF-κB activity of PBMC is markedly elevated in MHD patients;hemodiaysis(HD) procedure induces NF-κB activation;NF-κB activity of PBMC is associated with CVD and could be a useful marker of inflammation and risk factor of CVD in MHD patients.

Abstract:Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM), a major risk factor contributing to diabetes-related morbidity and mortality, manifests as a pathophysiologic condition in humans independently of coronary artery disease or hypertension. Several transcription factors intricately participate in the initiation and progression of associated processes. Among these, nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), a pleiotropic transcription factor, assumes a crucial role in regulating oxidative stress, inflammatory response, endothelial dysfunction, myocardial fibrosis and hypertrophy, and cardiomyocyte apoptosis in DCM. However, the precise role of NF-κB in DCM remains a subject of ongoing investigation. This article provides a comprehensive review of NF-κB's involvement in several processes associated with DCM.

Abstract:Nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) is a nuclear transcription factor that regulates expression of a large number of genes that are critical for the regulation of inflammation,tumorigenesis,autoimmune diseases and so on.The various stimuli which activate NF-κB cause phosphorylation of IκB,followed by its ubiquitination.This results in the exposure of the nuclear localization signals (NLS) on NF-κB subunits and the translocation of the molecule to the nucleus.In the nucleus,NF-κB binds with genes and activates their transcription.Vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 is a kind of adhesion molecules.NF-κB signaling pathway interacts with vascular cell adhesion molecule 1,which plays an important role in many kinds of diseases,such as atherosclerosis,auricular fibrillation and so on.There are many serious health hazards associated with these kinds of disease.That the interactions between NF-κB signaling pathway and vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 would be a target which was used to prevent and treat the disease.NF-κB signaling pathway could be activated by many cytokines,such as TNF-α,IL-1β3 and IL-6,which accelerate expression of vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 and other adhesion factors,resulting in the development of atherosclerosis,auricular fibrillation and other disease.In the clinical application,many drugs were used to inhibit NF-κB signaling pathway and to reduce the concentration of vascular cell adhesion molecule 1.For example,Musk Oolong pill is used to cure rheumatoid arthritis;Leflunomide Tablets are applied to cure progressive IgA nephropathy;Paeonol is used for the treatment of AS and Liraglutide is applied for the treatment of diabetes.The interaction between NF-κB signaling pathway and vascular cell adhesion molecule 1,the function of NF-κB signaling pathway in diseases and the mechanismthat NF-κB signaling pathway regulating the expression of vascular cell adhesion molecule 1were summarized in this article,which maybe serve as targets for the treatment of diseases.
NFKB1 Gene Mutant Was Associated with Prognosis of Coronary Artery Disease and Exacerbated Endothelial Mitochondrial Fission and Dysfunction

Abstract:Endothelial apoptosis is the core pathological change in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, including coronary artery disease (CAD). Determining the molecular mechanisms underlying endothelial apoptosis is important. Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) is a crucial transcription factor for controlling apoptosis. Our previous study demonstrated that the -94 ATTG ins/del mutant in the promoter of NFKB1 gene (rs28362491) is a risk factor for CAD. In the present study, we found that NFKB1 rs28362491 polymorphism was positively associated with increased major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs) in CAD patients. After adjusting for confounding factors including age, smoking, hypertension, glucose, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, the mutant DD genotype was an independent predictor of MACCEs ( OR = 2.578 , 95 % CI = 1.64 –4.05, P = 0.003 ). The in vitro study showed that mutant human umbilical vein endothelial cells (DD-mutant HUVECs) were more susceptible to high-glucose/palmitate-induced apoptosis, which was accompanied by decreased p50 expression and increased expression of cleaved caspase-3, Cytochrome c, and phospho-p65 ( P < 0.05 ). The mitochondrial membrane potential was significantly lower, while increasing levels of mtROS and more opening of the mPTP were observed in DD-mutant HUVECs ( P < 0.05 ). Furthermore, the percentage of cells with fragmented or spherical mitochondria was significantly higher in DD-mutant HUVECs than in wild-type cells (genotype II HUVECs) ( P < 0.05 ). In addition, after stimulation with high glucose/palmitate, the NFKB1 gene mutant significantly increased the expression of Drp1, which indicated that the NFKB1 gene mutant affected the expression of mitochondrial morphology-related proteins, leading to excessive mitochondrial fission. In conclusion, the mutant DD genotype of the NFKB1 gene was an independent predictor of worse long-term prognosis for CAD patients. DD-mutant HUVECs exhibited abnormal activation of the NF-κB pathway and increased Drp1 expression, which caused excessive mitochondrial fission and dysfunction, ultimately leading to increased apoptosis.

A total of 50 four-week-old male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: Surgery shunt group (Tn, n=15); surgery + pyrollidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) administration group (Ti, n=15); sham control group (Co, n=10) and negative control group (Cn, n=10). The 30 rats of the Ti and Tn groups underwent carotid artery-external jugular vein anastomosis; the 15 rats in the Ti group were injected with PDTC intraperitoneally 1 h prior to surgery for a two-week continuous infusion. After 12 weeks of feeding ad libitum, right ventricular systolic pressure and NF-κB activity in the pulmonary artery endothelial cells of the rats were measured. The NF-κB activity of the Tn group was significantly higher than that of the Cn group (P<0.01) and the NF-κB activity of the Ti group was lower than that of the Cn group (P<0.01); however, no significant difference was observed between the Co and Cn groups. The increased activity of NF-κB was an important factor in the pulmonary vasoconstriction and structural remodeling of rats with high pulmonary blood flow.
Effect of NF-κB on Endothelial Damage Mediated by Inflammatory Cytokines in Kawasaki Disease

Abstract:Objective Kawasaki disease (KD) is the leading cause of acquired heart diseases in children. Its etiology is unknown. In recent years, data have shown that the dysfunction of T cell and monocytes/macrophages plays a central role in the development of vasculitis. Nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) is positioned to integrate information from immune signaling pathway that can regulate the function of T cell and monocytes/macrophages. But the role of NF-κB in endothelial damage of KD is unknown. Therefore, the objective of the study was to further explore the effects of NF-κB on the endothelial damage in KD. Methods Human umbilical vein endothelial cells were cultured in vitro and the production of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay ( ELISA). The proportion of apoptotic cells in endothelial cells induced by the supernatants of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) was detected by AnnexinⅤ/PI double-staining. Electrophoretic mobility shift assay (EMSA) was used to detect the activity of NF-κB. Results The levels of TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 were markedly increased in patients and the proportion of apoptotic cells in endothelial cells induced by the cultured supernatants of PBMCs was markedly elevated (38.45±7.80)% compared to (2.87±0.76)% in the control subjects. The apoptosis induced by the supernatants of cultured PBMCs could be reversed, to some degree, through alone anti- TNF-α, IL-1β or IL-6 monoclonal antibody (McAb), or the combination together. The activity of NF-κB in the activated PBMCs in patients with KD was distinctly increased and SN50, the blockade of NF-κB, could significantly inhibit the production of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and the apoptosis of endothelial cells induced by the supernatants of cultured PBMC. Conclusion NF-κB, which can trigger the transcription of inflammatory cytokines such, as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, plays an important role in endothelial damage of KD. Abstract:Significance: Heart failure, a disease with extremely high incidence, is closely associated with inflammation and oxidative stress. The Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-.B) pathway plays an important role in the occurrence and development of heart failure. Recent advances: Previous studies have shown that TLR4/NF-.B causes heart failure by inducing oxidative stress and inflammation; damaging the endothelia; promoting fibrosis; and inducing myocardial hypertrophy, apoptosis, pyroptosis, and autophagy. Critical issues: Understanding the pathogenesis of heart failure is essential for the treatment of this disease. In this review, we outline the mechanisms underlying TLR4/NF-.B pathway-mediated heart failure and discuss drugs that alleviate heart failure by regulating the TLR4/NF-.B pathway. Future directions: During TLR4/NF-.B overactivation, interventions targeting specific receptor antagonists may effectively alleviate heart failure, thus providing a basis for the development of new anti-heart failure drugs.

Abstract:Diabetic cardiomyopathy entails the cardiac injury induced by diabetes independently of any vascular disease or hypertension. Some transcription factors have been proposed to control the gene program involved in the setting and development of related processes. Nuclear factor-kappa B is a pleiotropic transcription factor associated to the regulation of many heart diseases. However, the nuclear factor-kappa B role in diabetic cardiomyopathy is under investigation. In this paper, we review the nuclear factor-kappa B pathway and its role in several processes that have been linked to diabetic cardiomyopathy, such as oxidative stress, inflammation, endothelial dysfunction, fibrosis, hypertrophy and apoptosis.

Abstract:Atherosclerosis (AS) is a common cardiovascular disease with complex pathogenesis, in which multiple pathways and their interweaving regulatory mechanism remain unclear. The primary transcription factor NF-κB plays a critical role in AS via modulating the expression of a series of inflammatory mediators under various stimuli such as cytokines, microbial antigens, and intracellular stresses. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, caused by the disrupted synthesis and secretion of protein, links inflammation, metabolic signals, and other cellular processes via the unfolded protein response (UPR). Both NF-κB and ER stress share the intersection regarding their molecular regulation and function and are regarded as critical individual contributors to AS. In this review, we summarize the multiple interactions between NF-κB and ER stress activation, including the UPR, NLRP3 inflammasome, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, which have been ignored in the pathogenesis of AS. Given the multiple links between NF-κB and ER stress, we speculate that the integrated network contributes to the understanding of molecular mechanisms of AS. This review aims to provide an insight into these interactions and their underlying roles in the progression of AS, highlighting potential pharmacological targets against the atherosclerotic inflammatory process.

Abstract:Cardiovascular disease, which can lead to angina and shortness of breath, remains one of the most serious threats to human health. Owing to its imperceptible symptoms, it is difficult to determine the pathogenesis and treatment methods for cardiovascular disease. Nuclear factor erythropoietin-2-related factor 2/heme oxygenase 1 (Nrf2/HO-1) is a protein found in all cells of the human body. It is activated, transferred to the nucleus, and bound to DNA by antioxidant response elements (AREs). As a regulator of the antioxidant system, it upregulates the expression of HO-1 to reduce oxidative stress. Nrf2/HO-1 also has the ability to modulate calcium levels to prevent ferroptosis, pyroptosis, autophagy, programmed cell necrosis, alkaliptosis, and clockophagy. In view of the importance of Nrf2/HO-1 in the regulation of homeostasis, this review summarizes current research on the relationship between cardiovascular disease and Nrf2/HO-1. Normal cardiovascular diseases, such as viral myocarditis and myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, have been treated with Nrf2/HO-1. Rheumatic heart disease, cardiac tumors, arteriosclerosis, arrhythmia, hypertensive heart disease, and myocardial infarction have also been treated during experiments. Research has demonstrated the clinical application of Nrf2/HO-1 in pediatric cardiovascular disease; further clinical trials will help elucidate the potential of the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling axis.

Contribution of Brain Nuclear Factor‐kappa B to the Pathogenesis of Heart Failure

Abstract:Previous studies have shown nuclear factor kappa B (NF‐κB) is a major mediator facilitating the synthesis of proinflammatory cytokines (PIC) both in the peripheral and central nervous system. In this study we determined, whether blockade of brain NF‐κB attenuates PIC and oxidative stress in heart failure (HF) rats. Adult male Sprague‐Dawley rats were implanted with intracerebroventricular (ICV) cannulae and subjected to coronary artery ligation to induce HF or sham surgery (SHAM). Subsequently, animals were ICV treated with SN50 (2μg/hr), a membrane permeable peptide which inhibits nuclear translocation of NF‐κB, or vehicle (VEH) for 4 weeks. HF‐induced increases in the expression of NF‐κB, AT1‐R and NADPH oxidase gene in paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of hypothalamus, and TNF‐α, IL‐1β, IL‐6 and angiotensin type 1 receptor (AT1‐R) in hypothalamus compared with sham rats. The HF rats also had increased plasma norepinephrine (NE), an indirect indicator of sympathetic activity. In contrast, ICV treatment with SN50 attenuated the expression of PIC, NF‐κB, AT1‐R and oxidative stress gene in the PVN compared with VEH‐treated HF rats. Treatment with SN50 also reduced plasma levels of NE, angiotensin II (ANG II) and PIC, and lung weight to body weight ratio. These findings suggest NF‐κB may be one key mediator stimulating the synthesis of brain RAS and PIC in HF.

Abstract:Nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFAT) is a transcription factor with a multidirectional regulatory function, that is widely expressed in immune cells, including cells in the cardiovascular system, and non-immune cells. A large number of studies have confirmed that calcineurin/NFAT signal transduction is very important in the development of vascular system and cardiovascular system during embryonic development, and plays some role in the occurrence of vascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, vascular calcification, and hypertension. Recent in vitro and in vivo studies have shown that NFAT proteins and their activation in the nucleus and binding to DNA-related sites can easily ɨnduce the expression of downstream target genes that participate in the proliferation, migration, angiogenesis, and vascular inflammation of vascular wall related cells in various pathophysiological states. NFAT expression is regulated by various signaling pathways, including CD137-CD137L, and OX40-OX40L pathways. As a functionally diverse transcription factor, NFAT interacts with a large number of signaling molecules to modulate intracellular and extracellular signaling pathways. These NFAT-centered signaling pathways play important regulatory roles in the progression of atherosclerosis, such as in vascular smooth muscle cell phenotypic transition and migration, endothelial cell injury, macrophage-derived foam cell formation, and plaque calcification. NFAT and related signaling pathways provide new therapeutic targets for vascular diseases such as atherosclerosis. Hence, further studies of the mechanism of NFAT in the occurrence and evolution of atherosclerosis remain crucial.

Abstract:Objective:The aim of the study was to measure nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB) activity of peripheral blood mononuclear cell(PBMC) and evaluate the correlation of NF-κB activity and microinflammation,oxidative stress and cardiovascular disease in patients with maintenance hemodialysis(MHD).Methodology:The peripheral blood was obtained from thirty two patients with MHD before and after undergoing hemodialysis and 12 age-matched healthy subjects regarded as control.Nuclear extracts NF-κB activity of PBMC was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay(ELISA) and serum total antioxidant capacity(TAOC) and malondialdehyde(MDA) was measured by colorimetry.Pearson correlation and linear regression were used to assess the relationship between NF-κB activity and other laboratory parameters.Binary logistic regression was used to assess the correlation of NF-κB activity and CVD in MHD patients.Results:NF-κB activity of PBMC[(1 142±413)ng/mg nuclear extracts vs(2 083±39.5)ng/mg nuclear extracts,P<0.05],serum hsCRP(3.2 mg/L vs 0.5 mg/L,P<0.05),TAOC[(21.9±6.6)U/ml vs(15.7±2.3)U/ml,P<0.05]and MDA[(6.80±0.86)nmol/ml vs(3.89±0.51)nmol/ml,P<0.05]were significantly higher in MHD patients compared with controls.After a single HD session,NF-κB activity of PBMC was increased acutely [post-HD(2 077±690)ng/mg nuclear extracts vs pre-HD(1 142±413)ng/mg nuclear extracts,P<0.05]and T-AOC was decreased significantly(13.6±5.0 U/ml vs 21.9±6.6 U/ml,P<0.05).In all MHD patients,NF-κB activity was correlated positively with white blood cell count(r=0.454,P<0.05),hsCRP(r=0.590,P<0.05) and MDA(r=0.390,P<0.05).Linear regression analysis showed white blood cell count(β=0.338,P<0.05),hsCRP(β=0.440,P<0.05)and MDA(β=0.319,P<0.05) were independently associated with NF-κB activity.High NF-κB activity(>1 170 ng/mg nuclear extracts) was positively and independently associated with CVD(OR=8.47,P<0.05).Conclusion:NF-κB activity of PBMC is markedly elevated in MHD patients,which is associated with microinflammation,oxidative stress and cardiovascular disease and can be a useful marker of inflammation in patients with MHD.
Change and Significance of Nuclear Factor-Kappa B in Adriamycin Induced Cardiomyopathy in Rats

Abstract:BACKGROUND:This study aimed at investigating the change and significance of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappaB) in cardiomyopathy induced by adriamycin (ADR) in rats.METHODS:Sixty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups: control, ADR and ADR + pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) groups. After 30-day experiment, myocardial histopathological observation was performed. Location and distribution of NF-kappaB p50 was examined by immunohistochemical assay. Expression of NF-kappaB p50 protein was examined by immunobolt assay. Electrophoretic Mobility Shift Assay examined activity of NF-kappaB; Myocardium p53 gene expression was examined by RT-PCR analysis.RESULTS:The myocardial lesions of rats were less pronounced in ADR + PDTC group than in ADR group. Compared with control group, there were many myocardium nucleuses, which expressed NF-kappaB p50 and distribute under epicardium. Expression of NF-kappaB p50 protein in nucleus increased significantly in ADR group. The NF-kappaB binding activity increased significantly in ADR group. Myocardium expressions of p53 mRNA increased in ADR group.CONCLUSIONS:The NF-kappaB binding activity increased significantly in cardiomyopathy induced by ADR in rats. Moreover, NF-kappaB plays an important role in causing degeneration of myocardial tissue and regulating expression of related-apoptosis genes.

Abstract:Nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFAT) was first identified as a transcription factor about 3 decades ago and was not well studied until the development of immunosuppressant. Numerous studies confirm that calcineurin/NFAT signaling is very important in the development of vasculature and cardiovascular system during embryogenesis and is involved in the development of vascular diseases such as hypertension, atherosclerosis and restenosis. Recent studies demonstrated that NFAT proteins also regulate immune response and vascular cells in the pulmonary microenvironment. In this review, we will discuss how different NFAT isoforms contribute to pulmonary vascular remodeling and potential new therapeutic targets for treating pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Abstract:High levels of oxidant stress in the form of reactive oxidant species (ROS) are prevalent in the circulation and tissues in various types of cardiovascular disease including heart failure, hypertension, peripheral arterial disease, and stroke. Here we review the role of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), an important and widespread antioxidant and anti-inflammatory transcription factor that may contribute to the pathogenesis and maintenance of cardiovascular diseases. We review studies showing that downregulation of Nrf2 exacerbates heart failure, hypertension and autonomic function. Finally, we discuss the potential for using Nrf2 modulation as a therapeutic strategy for cardiovascular diseases and autonomic dysfunction.
