Abstract:A new flavonoid glycoside,3', 4'-dimethoxy-5,7,5'-trihydroxyl-flavone 3-O-a-l -rhamnopyranoside(1) and four known flavonoid glycosides were isolated from the aerial part of Clausena excavata (Rutaceae),collected from Xishuangbanna,Yunnan,P R China.The 13 C NMR assignments for the C6 and C8 of the four known compounds 2-5 were revised by means of 2D NMR experiments.

Abstract:Four compounds, including one new lignan cavaol H (1), one new coumarinolignoid 5′-hydroxycleomiscosin B (4) and two known lignans (2–3) were isolated from the 95% ethanol extract of the twigs of Eurycorymbus cavaleriei. Their structures were established on the basis of various spectroscopic analyses including 1D-(1H, 13C, and DEPT) and 2D-NMR (COSY, HMQC, and HMBC). The absolute stereochemistry of the two known lignans was firstly reported in this article by 1H NMR studies on Mosher's ester derivatives. In the present study, quinone reductase induction activities of compounds 1–4 were assayed, compound 4 showed moderate quinone reductase induction with concentration to double the enzyme activity (CD) of 10.5 ± 0.8 μg/mL. Then we established LC-MS-MS analysis of glutathione (GSH) incubation with compound 4 to explain whether compound 4 induced quinone reductase through alkylating of the sulfhydryl groups of Keap1. Reconstructed selected ion chromatogram (SIC) of m/z 706 after compound 4 incubation with GSH was different from that with Tris–HCl buffer solution, which meant the quinone reductase induction activity of compound 4 attributed to alkylating the sulfhydryl groups of Keap1.

Abstract:A new indole alkaloidal glucoside together with three known compounds aurantiamide acetate (2), eleutheroside E (3) and 1-O-caffeoyl-β-D-glucopyranoside (4) has been isolated from ethanol extract of the aerial parts of Clematis terniflora DC. On the basis of their spectroscopic and chemical evidence, the new compound was elucidated as (6-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-1H-indol-3-yl) carboxylic acid methyl ester (1). Compounds 1 and 3 showed significant cytotoxicity against human ECA-109.

The structures of the compounds have been elucidated by spectral methods. The new compound comes from Glycyrriza uralensis Fisch., as determined by HPLC-ESI-MS.

Abstract:This paper presents a methodology for gate trim etching to obtain accurate critical dimension (CD) control for 130-nm node ASIC manufacturing. In order to reduce mask-to-mask CD variation in gate trim etching, correlation between mask layout and amount of gate trim is investigated. It is found that trim rate strongly depends on gate peripheral length. A novel feed-forward technology to reduce both wafer-to-wafer variation and mask-to-mask variation is developed with the knowledge of peripheral length effect. This technology can also reduce CD variation within die and the CD bias between dense and isolated lines is compensated by optical proximity correction rules. This novel feed-forward technology is one solution for improving every gate CD variation: within die, within wafer, wafer-to-wafer, and mask-to-mask.
Immunopharmacological studies of qingkaining, a Chinese blended medicine: effects on experimental autoimmune uveoretinitis in the rat.

Abstract:Qingkaining, a blended Chinese medicine, is reported to be effective in treating patients with uveitis in China. In this study, the immunomodulatory effectiveness of this drug was evaluated on experimental autoimmune uveoretinitis (EAU) induced by S-antigen (S-Ag). Rats treated with high (2.5 cc/kg/day) and low (1 cc/kg/day) doses of Qingkaining, high (10 mg/kg/day) and low (3 mg/kg/day) doses of Cyclosporine A (CsA) and a combination of high or low dose of Qingkaining and low dose CsA were compared by the following parameters: clinical manifestations, histopathology, skin delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) reactions, lymphocyte proliferative responses and serum anti-S-antigen antibody production. The incidences of clinically and histopathologically determined EAU were 14.29% and 28.57% respectively in the rats treated with high and low doses of Qingkaining in comparison to 57.14% and none in the rats treated with low and high doses of CsA. EAU did not develop in the rats treated with the combination of low dose CsA and low or high doses of Qingkaining. The skin DTH reaction showed a diminished response in the rats treated with either Qingkaining or CsA. However, the lymphocyte proliferative responses and anti-S-Ag antibody were not effected in the rats treated with Qingkaining alone. This study demonstrates that Qingkaining is a potent immunosuppressive agent in this model for human disease. The experimental data support the clinical effectiveness of Qingkaining in the treatment of patients with uveitis.

Abstract:Aim To study the chemical constituents from the roots and rhizomes of Clematis hexapetala Pall.. Methods The components were isolated by means of solvent extraction, repeated chromatography with silica gel, sephadex LH-20 and prep-HPLC. The structures were determined by spectrum analysis. Results Twelve flavonoids were isolated and their structures were identified as 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 3′, 4′ -heptamethoxyflavone (1), nobiletin (2), liquiritigenin (3), hesperetin (4), naringenin (5), liquiritigen-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (6), 5, 7, 4′ -trihydroxy-3′- methoxyflavanone -7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl (1→6) -β-D-glucopyranoside (7), 6-hydroxybiochain A (8), formononetin (9), daidzein (10), genistein (11), and tectoridin (12). Conclusion All the said compounds were isolated from the plant for the first time.

Abstract:Objective: To isolate and elucidate the constituents from stem of Chirita longgangensis var. hongyao. Method: The constituents were extracted with methanol and isolated by chromatography on silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and ODS. The structures were determined by NMR and MS spectral analysis. Result: Five phenylethanoid glycosides were identified as 3, 4-dihydroxyphenyl alcohol-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1), 3, 4-dihydroxyphenyl alcohol-6-O-caffeoyl--D-glucopyranoside (calceolarioside B) (2), 3, 4-dihydroxyphenyl alcohol-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 --> 3)-6-O-caffeoyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside (plantainoside D) (3), 3, 4-dihydroxyphenyl alcohol-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 --> 3)-4-O-caffeoyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside (plantamajoside) (4), 3, 4-dihydroxyphenyl alcohol-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 --> 3)-6-O-feruloyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside (scroside E) (5), respectively. Conclusion: Compounds 3 and 5 were isolated for the first time from the family Gesneriaceae, and compounds 1, 2 and 4 were isolated for the first time from the genus Chirita.

Abstract:Eight new complex flavanones with a novel linkage, cryptoyunnanones A–H (1–8), together with four known α-pyrones, were isolated from the leaves and twigs of Cryptocarya yunnanensis. The structures of 1–8 including their absolute configurations were characterized by spectroscopic data analysis and single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Abstract:A new flavonoid glucoside was isolated from the aerial parts of Alhagi pseudoalhaki(M.B.) Desv..On the basis of spectral data and chemical reaction,it was elucidated to be syringetin-3-O-beta-D-glucoside.Moreover,fourteen known compounds were isolated and identified as beta-sitosterol,stigmasterol,kaempferol,rhamnetin,ombuine,isorhamnetin,tamarixetin,kaempferol-3-O-beta-D-(6-O-p-coumaroyl)-glucosiole, isoquercitrin, D-3-O-methylinositol, 1-O-betalmethyl-glucoside,isoswertianolin,isorhamnetin-3-O-beta-D-rutinoside,and tyramine.These compounds were isolated for the first time from the aerial parts of A.pseudoalhagi.

Abstract:Two chalcones and one flavonone were isolated from the rhizomes of Ligularia vellerea:3,2',4'-trihydroxy-4-methoxy-chalcone (1),4,2',4'-trihydroxy-chalcone (2) and 7,3'-dihydroxy-4'-methoxy flavonoe (3). The structures of these three compounds were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR (including 1H-1H COSY、HSQC and HMBC). The positions of the methoxyl and the hydroxyl groups in each compound were determined.

Abstract:Two diterpenoids and a few miscellaneous components (one phenethylpropanoid, one flavonoid, and one lignan) were isolated from the MeOH extract of the whole plant of the rare Chloranthaceae plant Chloranthus sessilifolius during a further phytochemical reinvestigation. Based on their spectroscopic data (i.e., IR, UV, 1D/2D NMR, ECD, and HR-ESIMS) and/or comparing with those reported physicochemical data in related literature, the structures were determined to be (3R,5S,6S,95,10S,135)-3,6,13-trihydroxy-ent-abieta-8(14)-en-7-one (1), 3 alpha,15-dihydroxy-13 alpha-methoxy-ent-abieta-8(14)-en-7-one (2), p-coumaroyl-beta-phenethyl amine (3), narigenin trimethyl ether (4), and (3R,4-R,3'R,4'R)-6,6'-dimethoxy-3,4,3',4'-tetrahydro-2H,2H'[3,3]-bichromenyl-4,4'-diol (5). Among them, compound 1 is new, while compounds 3 similar to 5 were isolated from the Chloranthus genus for the first time.

Abstract:Four new phenolic glycosides, including two flavonoid glycosides (1 and 2) and two lignan glycosides (3 and 4), were isolated from the traditional Chinese medicine formula, Baoyuan decoction. Their structures were established by detailed analysis of the NMR and HR-ESI-MS spectroscopic data and their absolute configurations were determined by the experimental electronic circular dichroism data as well as chemical methods. Furthermore, the sources of the four new compounds were determined by the UPLC-Qtrap-MS method, which proved that 1 and 2 are originated from Glycyrrhiza uralensis, and 3 and 4 are from Cinnamomum cassia.

Abstract:A 38-year-old female was admitted for investigation of the cause of hypergastrinemia, hypercalcemia and an elevated plasma parathyroid hormone (PTH) level. Her siblings, elder brother and sister who had duodenal carcinoid tumor with hypergastrinemia and parathyroid adenomas, were diagnosed as multiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) type 1. In the present patient, endoscopic examination showed a carcinoid tumor of the duodenum, but examinations by computed tomography (CT) and ultrasonography of the abdomen failed to reveal pancreatic lesions. Serum gastrin levels of this patient and her siblings improved to the normal level after resection of carcinoid tumors. The hypergastrinemia accompanying MEN type 1 in these cases might be due to carcinoid tumor of the duodenum.

Abstract:Two new compounds, cinnamic aldehyde cyclic D-galactitol 3'R,4'S-acetal (1) and cinnamomumolide (2), along with six known compounds, syringaresinol (3), lyoniresinol (4), 5,7,3'-trimethoxyl-(-)- epicatechin (5), 5,7-dimethoxyl-3',4'-di-O-methylene-(+/-)- epicatechin (6), 2-methoxyl-4-hydroxy cinnamyl aldehyde (7), and glucosyringic acid (8), have been isolated from the dried tender stems of Cinnamomum cassia. Their structures were elucidated based on spectroscopic data. Compound 2 was elucidated as 8-methoxyl-9-hydroxy-3',4'-methylenedioxy-3S, 4R-diphenyl butyrolactone, named cinnamomumolide, which exhibited activity in protecting against the injury caused by hydrogen peroxide oxidation on human umbilical vein endothelial cells, with an EC50 value of 10.7 mu M. Compounds 3-8 were isolated from the title plant for the first time.

The structures were established by analysis of their HRESIMS, 1D, 2D NMR spectroscopic, and CD data. In order to obtain improved resolution, the high-resolution NMR spectra of the dimers and trimer were measured at −40°C.

Abstract:Three new compounds, including two new diterpenoids, named epianhydrocinnzeylanol (1) and cinnacasiol H (2), and one hydroxylasiodiplodin, (3R,4S,6R)-4,6-dihydroxy-de-O-methyllasiodiplodin (3), together with five known diterpenoids (4–8) and two known phenolic glycosides (9–10) were isolated from the barks of Cinnamomum cassia. Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis and comparison of the chemical shift values with those of related known compounds. The anti-inflammatory activities of the isolates were evaluated on nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide-induced BV-2 microglial cells and the compounds showed weak inhibition activities.
