Abstract:Objective:To study correlations between the infection of high risk Human Papilloma Virus(HPV) 16,18 and the expression of the cell cycle-associated proteins p53,Ki-67,p16,Rb,cyclin D1 in oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods:The expression of p53,Ki-67,p16,Rb,cyclin D1 and HPV infection were carried out by immunohistochemistry and PCR in 73 samples of oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSSC).Results:The expression of p53,Ki-67,p16,Rb and cyclin D1 were 61.6%,97.7%,71.6%,34.2%and 68.3%respectively.There was a high co-relation between the expression of p53 and Ki-67,and inverse correlations between of p16 and Rb,p16 and cyclin D1.There was a positive relation between infection of high risk HPV16,18 and expression of Ki-67,p53,Rb,cyclin D1 and a negative relation between infection of high risk HPV16,18 and expression of p16.Conclusion:The infection of high risk HPV 16,18 possibly first induced the abnormal expression of Rb,and then initiated to change some key cell cycle-associated proteins like p53,Rb,cyclin D1 and the p16,which resulted in cancer finally.
