Abstract:By taking the task modulars as a basic testing unit, an evaluation model of the realtime multitasking software is presented in this paper. Since the parameters in the model are easy to be analysed and tested, this model is useful in evaluating the reliability of the realtime multitasking software.

Abstract:To deal with the problem that software reliability growth model can not fulfill the confidence requirements of real-time multitasking software reliability certification, a trustworthy method to certify the reliability of real-time multitasking software is presented based on the statistical testing of software modules. Firstly, a multitasking software reliability model and the solution to the model parameter are derived on the basis of analyzing the structure and operational characteristics of real-time multitasking software. Then, the reliability indices for the whole software system can be allocated to all task modules via the reliability model. Finally, the reliability indices allocated to the task modules are demonstrated by statistical testing. Thus, the conclusion, whether the whole software system satisfies the reliability indices or not, can be drawn from the single software module testing results. Experiment shows that the method provided above is effective and flexible.

Abstract:TT&C software is one of the important composing of the TT&C system.Its reliability makes a direct impact on the reliability of the TT&C system.For a long time,the measurement and control system software is relative lack of system reliability testing research.In this paper,aiming at the aerospace engineering ground measurement and control software system characteristics and reliability testing requirements,considering synthetically some factors such as input domains and defect levels,according to the mathematical algorithm,the reliability mix model of the real time software based on the sort of input domain is established.The applications of the established model are introduced.The typical functional software is tested in reliability with model and test algorithm for aerospace measurement control project areas,the experimental results show that the method is feasible,effective and easy to use.

The model of the system is an important technology of the automatization of software development. According to the model presented in the paper, many different kinds of automatic testing systems can be designed and developed easily. At the end of the paper, the prototype proves the feasibility of the model and design.

Abstract:N-modular redundancy are widely used in the ultra-reliable real-time fault-tolerant systems. Previous NMR systems often relay on special hardware and special operating systems, and the relationship between the critical tasks and operating system is tight, so it's difficult to system's porting, updating and maintenance. In this paper, we present a new task model for COTS-based NMR systems. By taking full advantage of COTS operating system's kernel function, this model not only satisfies the real-time requirement, but also masks the complexity of NMR system, and gets rid of the defect of previous systems. We also analyzed the real time performance of the tasks that adopt this new model.

Abstract:Software reliability testing refers to various software testing activities that are driven to achieve a quantitative reliability goal given a priori or lead to a quantitative reliability assessment for the software under test. In this paper we develop a modeling framework for the software reliability testing process, comprising a simplifying model and a generalized model. In both models the software testing action selection process and the defect removal mechanism are explicitly described. Both the discrete-time domain and the continuous-time domain are involved. The generalized model is more accurate or realistic than the simplifying model since the former avoids the assumption that defects are equally detectable and the assumption that defects are removed upon being detected. However simulation examples show that the simplifying model really captures some of essential features of the software testing process after a short initial testing stage. The modeling framework is practically realistic, mathematically rigorous, and quantitatively precise. It demonstrates that the relationship between software testing and delivered software reliability, which was poor understood, can well be formulated and quantified. Rigorous examinations show that several common assumptions adopted in software reliability modeling, including the independence assumption, the exponentiality assumption, and the NHPP assumption, are theoretically false in general. This paper sets a good starting point to further formalize and quantify the software testing process and its relation to delivered software reliability.

Abstract:Availability and reliability are of utmost important elements for real time systems. Availability means feasibility and compatibility of a system while reliability maintains a robust performing of a system. Most researches that related to real-time analysis have focused on the correctness but ignored the issue of compatibility, especially for substitutability of the involving tasks. Compatibility of tasks in real time system indicates the fitness of tasks that interact with each other, and substitutability is closely related to the fault tolerance mechanism of a system. In practice, one always applies backup tasks or ignored subtle fault of a task, to maintain a robust and continuation performing of a system. However, the replacement of a task or the ignored fault should not effect the main function. Thus, this would be important for us to analyze the substitutability In this paper, we designed an Interrupt Driven Task Scheduler, which is formally modeled by a process algebra called CCS in 4 components, and analysis its correctness with the help of model checking. For more important, we described single tasks in CCS and analysis its compatibility in weak and strong levels and proposed algorithm for task compatibility checking. We then used the definition of compatibility to analysis substitutability of tasks with the help of observational equivalence of CCS.

Abstract:The stability and reliability of multicore systems have been gotten more attentions with the widely used in all kinds of fields.After analyzing the current reliability model for chips,a reliability evaluating model considering the temperature and workloads for the multiprocessor is proposed.Based on construction characteristic of the multiprocessor,the model hierarchically constructs the evaluating index from instruction level to the task level that enables to quantitatively evaluate the reliability of the multiprocessor.To check the effectiveness of this model,a stability-oriented task scheduling algorithm is designed to enhance the stability of multicore system.It calculates the evaluating index for each scheduling scheme and chooses the scheduling scheme with highest evaluating index to obtain the low error rate caused by multicore.According to the results of simulation experiment,we can see that this model and method are effective that have the potential to reduce 45% of the error in multicore system.

Abstract:The increasing complexity of systems poses a big challenge to design systems with fault-tolerant capability. The aim of this study was to establish fault-tolerant system for multiprocessor platform with the help of hierarchical scheduling framework. A mathematical fault and reliability model for hierarchical scheduling framework was proposed firstly, and then a heuristic algorithm by exploiting the difference of task resource overhead and the probability of task failures was presented and a task replication scheme was given lastly. The experimental results demonstrated the proposed scheme could effectively guarantee reliability goal and reduce resource consumption simultaneously.
A Reliability Evaluation of Time-Constrained Distributed Software

Abstract:When evaluating distributed software reliability, the model based on respective distributed program is often used. However, current reliability models can only be used for distributed program evaluation and can not reflect the effects of real-time constraints. Proposed in this paper is an approach for the reliability evaluation of distributed programs that addresses real-time constraints. The approach proposed here is based on the principle of distributed program reliability evaluation, namely combining reduction with breadth-first manner, and then the transmission time is evaluated to find the time needed to complete execution of the file spanning tree for a given program. If the transmission time of a file spanning tree exceeds the execution deadline, it is unsuccessful whereas a file spanning tree is operational. A simple distributed real-time system is used to illustrate the feasibility of the proposed approach.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a real-time testbed RTMUS RT to eliminate unpredictable behaviors and improve dependability when empirically evaluating multicore real-time scheduling algorithms. Experimental results are obtained by measuring kernel overheads of RTMUS RT , and demonstrate that RTMUS RT has fewer disturbances in task executions than other existing work.

Abstract:The working conditions of multicomponent systems are usually dynamic and stochastic. Reliability evaluation of such systems is challenging, since the components are generally positively correlated. Based on the cumulative exposure principle, we model the effects of the dynamic environments on the component lifetimes by a common stochastic time scale, and exponential dispersion process is utilized to describe the stochastic time scale. Then, the component lifetimes are shown to be positively quadrant dependent, and the joint survival function of the component lifetimes is derived, which includes the results of [1] as special cases. In this article, we show that neglecting either the effects of dynamic environments or the correlation among component lifetimes would underestimate the reliability of series systems and overestimate the reliability of parallel systems. We also investigate the problem of parameter redundancy of the model, and give some suggestions for data analysis. Simulation studies show that the unified model is flexible and useful for suggesting an optimal model given observed data.

Abstract:Reliability is one of the most important quality attributes of commercial software since it quantifies software failures during the development process. In order to increase the reliability, we should have a comprehensive test plan that ensures all requirements are included and tested. In practice, software testing must be completed within a limited time and project managers should know how to allocate the specified testing-resources among all the modules. In this paper, we present an optimal resource allocation problem in modular software systems during testing phase. The main purpose is to minimize the cost of software development when the fixed amount of testing-effort and a desired reliability objective are given. An elaborated optimization algorithm based on the Lagrange multiplier method is proposed and numerical examples are illustrated. Moreover, sensitivity analysis is also conducted. We analyze the sensitivity of parameters of proposed software reliability growth models and show the results in detail. The experimental results greatly help us to identify the contributions of each selected parameter and its weight. The proposed algorithm and method can facilitate the allocation of limited testing-resource efficiently and thus the desired reliability objective during software module testing can be better achieved.

Abstract:Traditional methods such as empirical analysis and mathematical representation are difficultly applied to analyze re?liability and maintainability characteristic of complex equipment. For this reason,the task model,structure deployment model and relation model are built in this paper through analyzing the task and structure of the equipment. Then,a reliability and maintainabili?ty simulation algorithm for the equipment is proposed based on linear congruence generator. Furthermore,the process of the equip?ment reliability and maintainability simulation is described in detail. A prototype software system for the equipment reliability and maintainability simulation is developed. Finally,a case study is implemented on the prototype software system. It shows that the pro?posed method can carry out the scientific analysis on the equipment reliability and maintainability characteristic,and has better ac?curacy and convergence.

Abstract:There are many practical applications with the requirements of hard real-time and high availability, in military, aeronautics and astronautics, bank, weather processing and electronic commerce. Focusing on the requirements of hard real-time, how to check system faults, and how to combine practical applications with high-reliability techniques smoothly are the key problems. A MC-based design of a high-reliability application system, which meets the requirements of hard real-time, is proposed in the paper. It emphasizes adaptive heartbeat message detection, dual-software design and background data synchronization, and demonstrates how to apply the high-reliability system.

Abstract:In safety-critical system,not only the software reliability often needs too much time in statistical test,but also critical operations often test not enough and cost very high.This paper describes the method of software reliability accelerated test based on Markov link usage model,which uses the method of stratified sampling and importance sampling.It partially resolves the above problems provided that the unbiased estimation of software reliability is derived from the statistical test results which ameliorate the efficiency of the safety-critical software testing effectively.A case study of simulation shows that this method can effectively improve the test efficiency of the software reliability in key operations.
