Abstract:To obtain high equivalent isotropically radiated power (EIRP) with limited transmission power for an 8 × 30 antenna array with large dimensions relative to the operating wavelength of the antenna element, the dielectric lens is designed as well as a matching layer which is used to reduce the reflection caused by the dielectric lens. 3-D electromagnetic computer code CST is used to verify the design. The simulation results show that the proposed antenna element used in the array has improved 1.8 dB of the gain, and decreased the side lode level from -5.2 dB to -13.4 dB.

Study on the Application of Oversized Horn Antenna in Array
