Abstract:Transcranial magnetic stimulation is a type of brain intervention technology that has been widely utilized in clinical practice. In recent years, the role of the cerebellum in learning and memory has become one of the hot topics in the field of cognitive neuroscience. In this study, we conducted transcranial magnetic stimulation on the cerebellar region of the participants and instructed them to complete an n-back working memory task before and after the stimulation. The electroencephalogram was recorded and analyzed simultaneously during the experiment. By analyzing the phase locking value network of subjects' electroencephalogram data in different frequency bands during the task state, we discovered significant changes in the brain network connection strength in the frontal lobe after applying repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation at 5Hz and 20Hz to the cerebellum. Specifically, the connection strength was found to be concentrated in the theta and alpha bands. The results of this analysis suggest that the frontal lobe became more active during the working memory task after the cerebellum was stimulated.
