Abstract:How to precisely study the natural convection inside the curvilinear geometries with electrically conductive fluids and multidirectional magnetic fields is a vital problem in fluid mechanics. Herein, a numerical study is performed to examine the naturally magnetoconvective flow enclosed in a right-angled shaped trapezoidal cavity. The multidirectional magnetic field is applied on the fluid flow inside the cavity. Triangular obstacles with different thermal boundary conditions are utilized in the cavity. The numerical simulation provides a detailed understanding of the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics inside the trapezoidal cavity under the influence of multidirectional magnetic impacts. The numerical model can predict the flow patterns, temperature distribution, and heat transfer rates inside the cavity. It is demonstrated that the flow and heat transfer characteristics of a cavity can be significantly influenced by the presence of a magnetic field. Additionally, the presence of heated or cold obstacles inside the cavity can also have a substantial impact on these characteristics. The orientation of the magnetic field can also affect the temperature distribution and Nusselt number within the fluid flow. The results obtained from the numerical simulation can be used to optimize the design of the trapezoidal cavity for various industrial applications including electronic cooling, energy storage, heat exchangers, chemical processing, and solar collectors.
