Abstract:The decentralized H∞ control problem for discrete-time large-scale overlapping systems is considered in this paper. Based on the founded stability theorem of discrete-time systems, a sufficient condition for the existence of a decentralized H∞ two-parts-controller for discrete-time large-scale overlapping systems is presented in terms of the solvability to a certain discomposed system of matrix inequalities, by the Cone Complementary Linearization (CCL) algorithm. And the method can be extended to systems with uncertainties.

Abstract:By incorporating the technique of variable structure control (VSC) into the backstepping approach, a systematic procedure was proposed for the design of globally robust controller of a class of nonlinear system with unknown control directions and triangular structure. In the course of design, the procedure of the robust controller design was firstly developed via backstepping approach; then, the control directions were rectified by defining the switching conditions of the VSC. It was found that the presented robust controller can guarantee the boundedness of all states in the closed-loop system. The simulation results demonstrated the effectiveness of the presented method.

Abstract:This paper mainly studies quadratic stabilization and robust H∞ controller design for linear uncertain dynamic systems with delayed state and control. The paper presents a static state feedback controller which stabilizes the plant and reduces the effect of the disturbance input on the controlled output to prescribed levels for all admissible uncertainties. The sufficient conditions for quadratic stabilization with a H∞ norm bound constraint are derived. The results can be regarded as an extension of existing results to robust H∞ controller design for linear uncertain dynamic systems with delayed state and control.

Abstract:The advantages of both variable structure control and decentralized control have motivated us to investigate the decentralized variable structure control methods for uncertain interconnected systems. A set of global reaching conditions based on the linear transformation of sliding surface for multi-input subsystems are presented. The proposed decentralized variable structure control laws can be used to deal with the problems of large-scale systems with the unknown interconnections.

Abstract:The design of a decentralized variable structure controller for interconnected systems was investigated. Based on variable structure-control (VSC) theory and by exploiting the structure of interconnected systems, a concise approach of decentralized VSC was presented. The design of decentralized variable structure controller required the uncertainties of the systems were bounded, but the interconnected item and the uncertain interconnected item was not required to be matched. The designed controllers guaranteeing the closed-loop systems are global asymptotically stable. The design approach is simple.

Abstract:The problem of designing a robust controller for a multivariable system with significant uncertainty is considered. In particular, the class of uncertainty is represented by a set of finite demensional linear time-invariant models of the system. A physically realizable, finite demensional linear time-invariant controller in unit feedback configuration is designed such that the resulting feedback system simultaneously satisfies performance objectives for all models in the set. The performance objectives considered include not only stability but also regulation, tracking, weak interaction and desirable transcient behaviour. A new approach to a robust controller design which reaches the above objectives is developed in a frequency domain setting, and its effectiveness of this approach is verified by the design and simulation of a papermachine control system. The result exhibits quite satisfactory performances and strong robustness.

Abstract:In many applications, the system dynamics allows the decomposition into lower dimensional subsystems with interconnections among them. This decomposition is motivated by the ease and flexibility of the controller design for each subsystem. In this paper, a decentralized model reference adaptive iterative learning control scheme is developed for interconnected systems with model uncertainties. The interconnections in the dynamic equations of each subsystem are considered with unknown boundaries. The proposed controller of each subsystem depends only on local state variables without any information exchange with other subsystems. The adaptive parameters are updated along iteration axis to compensate the interconnections among subsystems. It is shown that by using the proposed decentralized controller, the states of the subsystems can track the desired reference model states iteratively. Simulation results demonstrate that, utilizing the proposed adaptive controller, the tracking error for each subsystem converges along the iteration axis.

Abstract:For linear switched system with both parameter uncertainties and time delay, a delay-dependent sufficient condition for the existence of a new robust H ∞ feedback controller was formulated in nonlinear matrix inequalities solvable by an LMI-based iterative algorithm. Compared with the conventional state-feedback controller, the proposed controller can achieve better robust control performance since the delayed state is utilized as additional feedback information and the parameters of the proposed controllers are changed synchronously with the dynamical characteristic of the system. This design method was also extended to the case where only delayed state is available for the controller. The example of balancing an inverted pendulum on a cart demonstrates the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed design methods.

Abstract:A multi-objective robust decentralized control method is proposed for the interconnected fuzzy singularly perturbed models. Such decentralized controller can guarantee the whole closed-loop system is asymptotically stable even when the multi-time-scale subsystems are interactional. Besides, the disturbance attenuation performance, dynamic performance and control amplitude can be optimized synthetically. The simulations illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract:This article considers the distributed robust control problems of uncertain linear multi-agent systems with undirected communication topologies. It is assumed that the agents have identical nominal dynamics while subject to different norm-bounded parameter uncertainties, leading to weakly heterogeneous multi-agent systems. Distributed controllers are designed for both continuous- and discrete-time multi-agent systems, based on the relative states of neighbouring agents and a subset of absolute states of the agents. It is shown for both the continuous- and discrete-time cases that the distributed robust control problems under such controllers in the sense of quadratic stability are equivalent to the H ∞ control problems of a set of decoupled linear systems having the same dimensions as a single agent. A two-step algorithm is presented to construct the distributed controller for the continuous-time case, which does not involve any conservatism and meanwhile decouples the feedback gain design from the communication topology. Furthermore, a sufficient existence condition in terms of linear matrix inequalities is derived for the distributed discrete-time controller. Finally, the distributed robust H ∞ control problems of uncertain linear multi-agent systems subject to external disturbances are discussed.

The norm-bounded uncertainties enter into the complex dynamical network in randomly ways, and such randomly occurring uncertainties (ROUs) obey certain mutually uncorrelated Bernoulli distributed white noise sequences. Under the circumstances, a robust ℋ_∞ decentralized dynamic feedback controller is designed to achieve asymptotic synchronization of the network. Based on Lyapunov stability theory and linear matrix inequality (LMI) framework, the existence condition for feasible controllers is derived in terms of LMIs. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a numerical example in order to show the effectiveness of our result.

Abstract:This paper investigates the decentralized multi-objective robust control for the interconnected fuzzy singular perturbed model with multiple perturbation parameters. Some practical systems, such as the large power system, usually exhibits the characters of multiple time scale and interconnections among subsystems. Thus, the interconnected fuzzy singular perturbed model is proposed to model such industrial system. Additionally, the fuzzy singular perturbed model with multiple perturbation parameters can describe a nonlinear multiple time scale system more precisely than the one with a single perturbation param- eter. However, the concentrated control of interconnected fuzzy singular perturbed model can not achieve excellent performance due to the interconnection term. Sometimes the interconnection term, which can be regarded as the external disturbance, may even lead to divergence in the control system. Thus, in this paper, the decentralized multi-objective robust controller is proposed. On one hand, the control of the fuzzy singular perturbed model can achieve good results under the condition of cross-linking among the subsystems by using the decentralized controller. On the other hand, a multi-extreme optimization model is established considering the noise resistance level, dynamical performance and the control input amplitude comprehensively. The method of Estimation of Distribution Algorithms is utilized to solve this optimization model. Numerical Simulations demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the method proposed in this paper.
