Abstract:In this paper, we present characterizations of totally bounded sets, relatively compact sets and compact sets in the fuzzy sets spaces $F_B(\mathbb{R}^m)$ and $F_B(\mathbb{R}^m)^p$ equipped with $L_p$ metric, where $F_B(\mathbb{R}^m)$ and $F_B(\mathbb{R}^m)^p$ are two kinds of general fuzzy sets on $\mathbb{R}^m$ which do not have any assumptions of convexity or star-shapedness. Subsets of $F_B(\mathbb{R}^m)^p$ include common fuzzy sets such as fuzzy numbers, fuzzy star-shaped numbers with respect to the origin, fuzzy star-shaped numbers, and the general fuzzy star-shaped numbers introduced by Qiu et al. The existed compactness criteria are stated for three kinds of fuzzy sets spaces endowed with $L_p$ metric whose universe sets are the former three kinds of common fuzzy sets respectively. Constructing completions of fuzzy sets spaces with respect to $L_p$ metric is a problem which is closely dependent on characterizing totally bounded sets. Based on preceding characterizations of totally boundedness and relatively compactness and some discussions on convexity and star-shapedness of fuzzy sets, we show that the completions of fuzzy sets spaces mentioned in this paper can be obtained by using the $L_p$-extension. We also clarify relation among all the ten fuzzy sets spaces discussed in this paper, which consist of five pairs of original spaces and the corresponding completions. Then, we show that the subspaces of $F_B(\mathbb{R}^m)$ and $F_B(\mathbb{R}^m)^p$ mentioned in this paper have parallel characterizations of totally bounded sets, relatively compact sets and compact sets. At last, as applications of our results, we discuss properties of $L_p$ metric on fuzzy sets space and relook compactness criteria proposed in previous work.

Abstract:A fuzzy compactum in a space X is an upper semi-continuous map <math>f:A→[0,1]</math> from a nonempty compact subspace <math>A⊂X</math> to the unit closed interval <math>[0,1]</math> such that <math>{x∈A:f(x)>0}</math> is dense in A. In this paper, we investigate the topological structure of the space <math>Ke(X)</math> of fuzzy compacta of a separable metric space X with the Hausdorff metric. In particular, we prove that <math>Ke(X)≈ℓ2</math> if X is an infinite, locally compact, locally connected, connected and separable metric space.

Properties of several metric spaces of fuzzy sets

Abstract:This paper discusses the properties the spaces of fuzzy sets in a metric space equipped with the endograph metric and the sendograph metric, respectively. We first give some relations among the endograph metric, the sendograph metric and the $\Gamma$-convergence, and then investigate the level characterizations of the endograph metric and the $\Gamma$-convergence. By using the above results, we give some relations among the endograph metric, the sendograph metric, the supremum metric and the $d_p^*$ metric, $p\geq 1$. On the basis of the above results, we present the characterizations of total boundedness, relative compactness and compactness in the space of fuzzy sets whose $\alpha$-cuts are compact when $\alpha>0$ equipped with the endograph metric, and in the space of compact support fuzzy sets equipped with the sendograph metric, respectively. Furthermore, we give completions of these metric spaces, respectively.

Abstract:We study the family of all fuzzy sets of the n-dimensional Euclidean space, which are upper-semicontinuous, fuzzy convex and normal with compact supports contained in a non-degenerate convex subset, and prove that the following statements are equivalent: (i) The family of fuzzy sets with the topology induced by the supremum metric is homeomorphic to a non-separable Hilbert space whose weight is the cardinality of the set of all real numbers; (ii) the non-degenerate convex subset is topologically complete, or equivalently, it is a countable intersection of open sets in the n-dimensional Euclidean space.

Abstract:As a natural generalization of fuzzy numbers, star-shaped fuzzy numbers play a crucial role in fuzzy mathematics. Let Y be a non-degenerate compact convex subset of the n -dimensional Euclidean space, and let FSz0(Y) be the family consisting of all star-shaped fuzzy numbers with respect to z0 whose supports contained in Y . Using methods from infinite-dimensional topology, we mainly show that the space FSz0(Y) with the topology induced by the sendograph metric is homeomorphic to the separable Hilbert space l2 .

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the notions of the rectangular fuzzy set and step type fuzzy number. It is shown that the family of all platform type fuzzy numbers ET1 is dense in fuzzy numbers space E1 about Lp-metric Dp, and the family of all rational type step fuzzy numbers EQG1(EQG1⊂ET1 and EQG1 is a countable set) is dense in (ET1,Dp). Further, as corollaries, we obtain that (E1,Dp) is a separable metric space and several separable metric spaces about p-mean symmetric difference metric dΔp.

Abstract:This paper discusses the properties of Skorokhod metric on normal and upper semi-continuous fuzzy sets on metric space. All fuzzy sets mentioned below refer to this type of fuzzy sets. We confirm that the Skorokhod metric and the enhanced-type Skorokhod metric are equivalent on compact fuzzy sets. However, the Skorokhod metric and the enhanced-type Skorokhod metric need not be equivalent on <math>Lp</math>-integrable fuzzy sets, which include compact fuzzy sets. We point out that the <math>Lp</math>-type <math>dp</math> metric, <math>p≥1</math>, is well-defined in common cases but the <math>dp</math> metric is not always well-defined on all fuzzy sets. We introduce the <math>dp⁎</math> metric which is an expansion of the <math>dp</math> metric, and write <math>dp⁎</math> as <math>dp</math> in the sequel. Then, we investigate the relationship between these two Skorokhod-type metrics and the <math>dp</math> metric. We show that the relationship can be divided into three cases. On compact fuzzy sets, the Skorokhod metric is stronger than the <math>dp</math> metric. On <math>Lp</math>-integrable fuzzy sets, the Skorokhod metric is not necessarily stronger than the <math>dp</math> metric, but the enhanced-type Skorokhod metric is still stronger than the <math>dp</math> metric. On all fuzzy sets, even the enhanced-type Skorokhod metric is not necessarily stronger than the <math>dp</math> metric. We also show that the Skorokhod metric is stronger than the sendograph metric. At last, we give a simple example to answer some recent questions involved the Skorokhod metric.

Abstract:In this paper, we give some properties of fuzzy Riesz homomorphism on fuzzy Riesz space. We give definitions of fuzzy quotient spaces, and some characterizations of fuzzy Archimedean quotient spaces. We prove the properties which fuzzy Riesz homomorphism is fuzzy order continuous, and study the extension of fuzzy lattice homomorphism and the extension of fuzzy order continuous lattice homomorphism. Finally, we investigate the factorization by fuzzy Riesz homomorphisms.

Abstract: In this short paper we study $L_f^p$-Liouville property with $0<p<1$ for nonnegative $f$-subharmonic functions on a complete noncompact smooth metric measure space $(M,g,e^{-f}dv)$ with $\mathrm{Ric}_f^m$ bounded below for $0<m\leq\infty$. We prove a sharp $L_f^p$-Liouville theorem when $0<m<\infty$. We also prove an $L_f^p$-Liouville theorem when $\mathrm{Ric}_f\geq 0$ and $|f(x)|\leq \delta(n) \ln r(x)$.

Abstract:In the present paper, we introduce and discuss a new set of separation properties in fuzzy soft topological spaces called $ FS\delta $-separation and $ FS\delta $-regularity axioms by using fuzzy soft $ \delta $-open sets and the quasi-coincident relation. We provide a comprehensive study of their properties with some supporting examples. Our analysis includes more characterizations, results, and theorems related to these notions, which contributes to a deeper understanding of fuzzy soft separability properties. We show that the $ FS\delta $-separation and $ FS\delta $-regularity axioms are harmonic and heredity property. Additionally, we examine the connections between $ FS{\delta }^* $-compactness and $ FS\delta $-separation axioms and explore the relationships between them. Overall, this work offers a new perspective on the theory of separation properties in fuzzy soft topological spaces, as well as provides a robust foundation for further research in the transmission of properties from fuzzy soft topologies to fuzzy and soft topologies and vice-versa by swapping between the membership function and characteristic function in the case of fuzzy topology and the set of parameters and a singleton set in the case of soft topology.

Abstract:For pt.1 see ibid., vol.117, p.347-353 (2001). We show that the family of all platform type fuzzy numbers is separable with respect to the uniform Hausdorff metric, thus deducing that this family is also separable with respect to the uniform symmetric difference metric. Subsequently, the family of all rational step type fuzzy numbers, which is a countable set, is claimed to be dense in the previous two spaces with rational platform heights, and the family of all step type fuzzy numbers be dense in fuzzy number space with respect to the previous two metrics. Finally, we investigate the separability of weak fuzzy number space with respect to the two metrics. All these results offer a good path to process general fuzzy numbers by using simple fuzzy numbers sequence.

Abstract:In this paper, by applying the Lebesgue's measure on the symmetric difference of sets, we introduce the notions of the symmetric difference metric d△ and p-mean symmetric difference metric d△p in order to measure the difference between fuzzy numbers. The concept of the platform type of fuzzy number (p-fuzzy number) is introduced, and we show that d△ and d△p are zero if and only if two fuzzy numbers are equal or have the same p-fuzzy numbers. Further, the relations between d△ and the uniform Hausdorff metric DH (cf. Diamond and Kloeden, 1989), d△p and Dp (cf. Nola and Ventre, 1987) are discussed. For the non-p-fuzzy numbers, the equivalences of the metric convergences on d△ and DH, d△p and Dp are provided.
On countable tightness type properties of spaces of quasicontinuous functions

Abstract:In this paper we get characterizations countable tightness, countable fan-tightness and countable strong fan-tightness of spaces of quasicontinuous functions with the topology of pointwise convergence from a open Whyburn $T_2$-space $X$ into the discrete two-point space $\{0, 1\}$ through properties of $X$ determined by selection principles. These properties (e.g. $S_1(K, K)$, $K_{\Omega}$-Lindelofness, $S_1(K_{\Omega}, K_{\Omega})$) were defined by M. Scheepers and studied in theory of selection principles in the class of metric spaces. For any cardinal number $\kappa$, we get a functional characterization of $\kappa^+$-Lusin space in class of separable metrizable spaces through tightness of compact subsets of a space of quasicontinuous real-valued functions with the topology of pointwise convergence.
