Abstract:Teaching Chinese as foreign language is not only a language teaching, but also a cultural teaching. To teachers, the teaching objects are foreigners who have different cultural backgrounds. To learners, it is a social cultural communication. There are lots of differences between Chinese and Slavic cultures, which have great impact on language learners. That is to say, teachers need to consider the differences and adopt effective measures to help Ukraine students grasp Chinese. Language is the carrier of culture, and language itself is also an important part of culture. "Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language" is both a language teaching and a kind of cultural teaching. The unity of language teaching and cultural teaching is the most fundamental characteristic of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The core and purpose of teaching Chinese as a foreign language is to cultivate students'communicative competence in Chinese. For students whose native language is non-Chinese, this communicative competence in Chinese is a cross-cultural communication ability. The system of kinship terms represents the traditional culture of any nation and reflect the historical accumulation of different titles, respectively, represent different language culture. Kinship terms, as a basic vocabulary in a tight form of the national language system. relatively stable, reflecting a social life of nations, cultural traditions, national psychology and so on. Although there are similarities between ethnic and national phenomenon, but similar does not mean exactly the same, there are some difference to identify those key kinship.

Abstract:The inseparable relationship between language and culture indicates that culture teaching is indispensable in English teaching. The ultimate goal of culture teaching in English teaching is to cultivate learners’ cross-cultural communication skills. Cross-cultural communication is a two-way process, which requires not only knowledge of English culture but also the use of English as a medium for disseminating Chinese culture to the outside world. However, in actual English teaching, the teaching of Chinese culture is a mere formality, and the teaching effect is not obvious. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a survey and research on Chinese culture teaching in high school English classrooms to understand its current situation, existing problems, and their causes, so as to provide suggestions for Chinese culture teaching in high school.

Abstract:This article intends to contextualize Russian language education within the development of China-Russia relations, ranging over periods of friendly alliance, deteriorating confrontation, normalization, and strategic cooperative partnership. Moreover, by paralleling the situations of Russian language education with the corresponding periods mentioned above, the article tries to summarize and reflect on the relevant achievements and experiences, and to comprehensively sort out the development of Russian language education in China over the past seventy years. On this basis, it will further discuss how to adapt the Russian language education system to the call of the present time and the demand of the era, and how to further improve the quality of Russian students within higher education to better cater to the national development strategy, to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries, and to enhance China’s cultural soft power.

Abstract:Introduction. The article deals with the issue of studying the Russian language as a foreign language in a technical university in the aspect of a culturally oriented campaign. Theoretical analysis of the material on this issue allows us to note the relevance of this study and formulate a conclusion about the need to use a culturally oriented approach in a technical university, thanks to which foreigners can be adapted to a foreign-language socio-cultural environment. A number of problems are identified that impede the effective assimilation of the Russian language. Empirical analysis, based on the methods of practical observation and comparison of the level of foreign students’ language skills, allows us to identify the conditions for successful education of foreign students in Russian universities and some “difficulties”, overcoming which helps stimulate the learning process. The special role of the teacher of Russian as a foreign language is determined. As an illustrative example, a brief description of the preparation of a practical excursion is given, which allows foreign students to immerse themselves in a foreign culture. In conclusion it is concluded that a culturally oriented approach is one of the main ones in teaching foreign students the Russian language, as it forms foreigners’ respect for a foreign culture and contributes to the comprehensive development of the individual.

Abstract:Nowadays we can see a growing interest to the Russian language among Chinese citizens. The thing is that there are many relevant factors that may be the reasons for that, but the most vital is active collaboration development between Russia and China on the government level. These days Chinese students are learning Russian language when they come to Russia or being in China. On the one hand, a great number of students are aimed to come to Russia and learn the Russian language in the natural language environment. On the other hand, Chinese higher education establishments strive for inviting Russian teachers for their faculties to create favorable language environment, mastering the language out of Russian-speaking environment. It is of higher importance, that in Chinese higher education establishments are trying to create the most favorable conditions, fulfilling all the modern requirements, for learners of the Russian language. However, Russian teachers often face some difficulties. Teachers state that the biggest problem of these students is obtaining speaking skills, taking initiative in oral communication in Russian. The aim of this article is to observe and analyze problems of teaching Russian (its speaking aspect) in Chinese higher education establishments in the light of national personality traits. We also aim to represent some methods and recommendations to update the learning process. While teaching Russian in China a teacher from Russia has to create language environment, which must not contradict Chinese mindset, and encourage students to teach and think “as Russians do.” It is worth using pictures and different objects, such as a piece of chalk and mediatechnologies, giving modern and useful knowledge on country studies, going to a club or visiting a theatre, etc. To get the best results in a short period of time a teacher must respect his country and involve his students into language learning.

Abstract:Objective. The aim of this research was a comparative analysis of culture beliefs about Russia’s, Eastern and Western civilizations among the youth of Moscow City. Background. Civilization identity is the a basic constituent in forming of individual’s image of the world. Understanding and acceptance of civilization’s cultural particularities helps to save personal and social identity’s stability. But understanding of differences from other civilizations and comparison with them is no less important. Study design. The study examined the relationship between the various components of the cultural representations of civilizations. The presence and nature of the relationship was checked through correlation, qualitative and content analysis. Participants. 200 people (43% of men, 57% of women) from 18 to 2 years old, students of creative universities in Moscow, studying under the training programs for future media workers. Measurements. The study was carried out by the method of questioning, including the associative method, the method of unfinished sentences, closed and open questions. Results. The research’s results proved the hypothesis that culture beliefs of Russia’s youth are qualitatively different for each of the presented civilizations. Besides, the research discovered differences related to gender. Russia’s and Eastern civilizations turned out to be the closest for male according to the research’s results, and for female — Russia’s and Western civilizations respectively. Conclusions. There is a qualitative difference between the cultural ideas of Russian, Western and Eastern civilizations among Russian youth.

Abstract:Though the culture textbooks in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL) have dramatically proliferated, the development seems to be in disorder. This situation is due to the fact that the rational understanding of culture teaching in TCFL lags far behind the teaching practice. Evaluation of the reality in culture textbook compiling reveals the following main problems: unclear definition of culture and culture textbooks; confusions of culture teaching in TCFL and teaching culture to foreigners; lack of consensus concerning the content and arrangement of a culture textbook. To solve these problems, suggestions are given in this paper: a) to set a syllabus for culture teaching in TCFL;b) to determine a hierarchy of different items for culture teaching in TCFL; c) to develop a new paradigm for culture textbook compiling and culture teaching in TCFL.

Abstract:The term "culture" originates from "The Book of Changes". Western culture is derived from the Latin word "Culture," originally referring to practices such as farming, dwelling, and training, among others. British cultural scholar E. Tylor defined "culture" in "Primitive Culture" as a complex group of abilities and habits acquired by any member that includes knowledge, beliefs, morals, and customs. In the context of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, "culture" can be extended to the understanding of "culture" in "Primitive Culture." The culture of teaching Chinese as a foreign language encompasses the knowledge, beliefs, and morals of both parties. This article discusses "cultural language loss" and "bilingualism," exploring strategies for the development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.

Abstract:The promotion of the Russian language in the world is one of the main goals of the modern Russian education strategy. An important part of this problem is teaching Russian to foreigners in Russian universities. The current problem of modern Russian studies is the search for the most effective forms, methods and means of Russian language learning. Teaching Russian to foreigners should be built on an interdisciplinary basis. The most important component of teaching Russian to foreign students is literature. Turning to it, foreigners get acquainted with the history, culture and traditions of Russia from different eras. Russian literature is very popular in different countries. The works of Russian writers are studied in schools and universities in China. The article presents the authorial method of teaching the Russian language to Chinese bachelors and masters based on a graphical and symbolic analysis of Russian literature. Our methodology uses the practice-oriented traditions of semiotics, mnemonics and ergonomics. When studying Ivan Turgenev’s story “Bezhin Meadow”, we focus on the features of its analysis in the Chinese audience. This lesson is preceded by a historical-literary and cultural commentary of the teacher who uses various multimedia tools. An integral part of our methodology is the creation of an adapted educational text with marked stresses, vocabulary work and various types of retelling, grammar tasks and a graphic drawing of the analyzed text. With this approach to the educational process, foreign students develop visual memory, better understand Russian grammar and improve oral coherent speech, which contributes to a deeper and more meaningful interest in the Russian language. The use of modern technologies, while working on a literary text, helps foreign students to better understand the national flavor of Russian literature. The study has led to the need to implement new approaches to teaching the Russian language to Chinese students at the North-Eastern Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov.

Abstract:The article shows that each person belongs to a certain national culture, including national traditions, language, history, and literature. Economic, cultural, and scientific contacts of countries and their peoples make relevant the topics related to the study of intercultural communication, the relationship of languages and cultures, and the study of linguistic personality. The author presents Cultural Linguistics as coming from the spirit of the language or from certain phenomena associated with the linguistic mentality, as well as studies nationally and culturally specific rules for the organization of language/culture. The main conclusion of the article is that the main purpose of culture is to be a means of spiritual enrichment of the individual. A person plunges into the "world of culture", mastering many languages specific to material and spiritual culture. The national character of culture presupposes the interaction of languages and cultures of different peoples and their mutual enrichment to a holistic "basic foundation" - world culture, the achievement of all humankind. Culture as a creation of the people is the unity of the national (specific) and the general (international).

Abstract:In this qualitative study, the researchers examined the experience of a sample of language instructors in foreign language programs to identify the challenges they encountered and the strategies they applied in integrating culture into their daily teaching. The findings of this study indicated that in spite of confronting challenges in cultural teaching, language instructors have made individual efforts on culture teaching in their specific programs. The article concluded with possible implications for language teachers and suggestions for future studies.

Abstract:Language and culture are always closely mingled together and sophisticatedly interact with each other. Language is a main expression of culture; meanwhile language is a carrier of culture. There is no language without the influence of culture. Therefore, it is imperative to integrate culture education with language teaching, have students understand different culture through the introduction of cultural knowledge, comparison of cultural phenomenon and cultivation of students’ cultural awareness from the aspects of typical cultural difference including value, national psychological characteristics, thought pattern and connotation of vocabulary and idioms. When carrying out language teaching, teachers should provide students more materials and references related to western culture at the same time of exploring cultural points in textbooks, and designing more class activities, such as role-play and mini drama, comparison and contrast, holding parties on western festivals, etc. to widen students’ cultural horizon and thereby develop students’ cross-cultural communicative competence in order to get acclimatized to the new world that is increasingly globalized and internationalized. Abstract:Many theorists have pointed out that in real world communication, the usage of a language is always colored by a cultural norm so that the language used in communication can be understood by the majority of a cultural community or society. The relationship between language usage and cultural norms or pragmatic rules can never be broken in communication. In cross-cultural communication, the differences in pragmatic rules, communicative strategies, cross-cultural psychology among other may become problematic areas in learning a second or foreign language. Consequently, making the differences known to both learners and teachers is of paramount importance in teaching and learning a second or foreign language. By addressing and discussing some cultural-specific factors in teaching and learning a second or foreign language, this thesis aims to provide useful learning factors in which learners frame meaning in a second or foreign language and thus emphasize the importance of teaching culture to second or foreign language learners, it also tentatively provide some instructional strategies for teaching culture in second or foreign language acquisition (SLA/FLA) classroom.

Abstract:Intercultural dialogue as a critical component of modern society should contribute to the self-identification of a person in the cultural space. This research aims to demonstrate the importance of multiculturalism— learning a second language in the Russian system of higher education. To accomplish the research objectives, 78 students were recruited at Tula State University, 158 students at Kuban State University and 152 technical students at Moscow Aviation Institute. Analysing and comparing experiments on learning a second language, the findings determine the effective methods and forms of teaching. In doing so, the research foregrounds some forms of effective teaching and indicates the ways to achieve them. In other words, the findings made it possible to identify the effective strategies for teaching a foreign language both in local and global level.

Abstract:In the context of increasing intercultural interaction in education, the knowledge of specific features in other cultures and the ability to use the tools enabling more effective intercultural communication in the educational process is of particular importance. The concept of cultural intelligence is aimed at successful intercultural communication, but now its description in the field of language learning is fragmentary. The purpose of the article is to analyze the concept of cultural intelligence and to highlight characteristics relevant to teaching a foreign language (on the example of Russian as a foreign language). The paper describes the concept of cultural intelligence, as well as the main directions of the application of the theory in an educational context (from the teacher’s perspective, from the student’s perspective and from the teaching materials’ perspective). The study’s novelty is related to the analysis of learning materials for their potential to have a meaningful impact on the level of cultural intelligence of students. Comprehensive understanding of the above- mentioned issues allow highlighting the key areas of empirical research that exist now, as well as outlining the prospects for further research. Thereupon, of particular interest are the studies of cultural intelligence and ethnic identity of students in the context of the mutual influence of these parameters on the organization of the educational process and academic results of students

Abstract:На сегодняшний день русская литература в Китае достаточно известна, с чем связано ее изучение в высших учебных заведениях Китая. Вместе с тем преподавание русской литературы китайским учащимся требует особого подхода с учетом их национальной языковой личности. В статье рассматриваются этапы работы с художественным текстом с учетом этнопсихологических особенностей китайских учащихся, особенности работы с художественным текстом в рамках РКИ в китайской аудитории, предлагается ряд упражнений на развитие видов речевой деятельности и коммуникативной компетенции китайских учащихся на уроках русской литературы. Авторами также показана возможность развития лингвокультурологических и страноведческих навыков при изучении литературного произведения с целью развития социокультурной компетенции учащихся. Russian literature is famous in China today and that’s why it is studied in China’s universities. However, teaching Russian literature to Chinese students requires a specific approach taking into account the national language personality. This article covers stages of work with literary text taking into account the ethnopsychological features of Chinese students, some features of the work with literary text with Chinese students. There are offered some exercises for Chinese students for development different types of speech activities (reading, listening, writing and spoken language) and communicative skills in a course of Russian literature. Authors also show possibility of development linguocultural skills during learning literary text. It is necessary for development sociocultural competence of students.
