A Comparative Research on the Photosynthesis Rate of Two Peony Varieties——Paeonia Suffruticosa Andr.cv."Shouanhong" and Paeonia Suffruticosa Andr.cv.."Baiyu"

Abstract:With Paeonia suffruticosa Andr.cv.Shouanhong,which was a natural triploid variety,and Paeonia suffruticosa Andr.cv..Baiyu as the materials,the experiments was carried out to study the diurnal variations of photosynthesis and the response to light of two Peony breeds leaves under natural conditions.The results indicated as follow: the curves of the diurnal variations of the net photosynthetic rates in the two varieties leaves was that both had two peaks,but the mean of the net photosynthetic rates;the light compensation points and the light saturation points are higher than the cv..Baiyu.While the biggest photosynthetic rates at the light saturation points,cv.Shouanhong(12.39μmol/m2·s)is biger than the cv..Baiyu(6.28μmol/m2·s).Thus the result showed that photosynthesis ability of cv.Shouanhongis better than the cv..Baiyu from the physiological aspect.
