Abstract:Dredged offshore sand has been an important alternative construction resource of river sand at some coastal regions in China.Because of frequently causing problems to concrete,the offshore sand was restricted to some constructions due to its rich chloride and shell content.In this work,we compared the workability,compressive strength and resistance to chloride ion permeability of concrete contained natural offshore or river sand with different chloride content,and also discussed the feasibility and application of admixture and corrosion inhibitor on concrete contained chloride-rich offshore sand.The results shows that the workability of concrete,and the slump of the concrete reduce significantly with the increase of chloride content.Besides,it was verified that theseaddtions(chloride,others admixture and corrosion inhibitors)have no obvious adverse effects on the compressive strength of concrete,and definitely improves the workability and resistance to chloride ion permeability of the concrete.Furthermore,the 18% corrosion inhibitor in concrete exhibits nearly the same efficiency of enhancing the resistance to chloride ion permeability as the 30%admixture.

Abstract:Referring to the specific technical parameters of the lifting device of a certain 350 ft jack-up offshore platform,combining the specific operation process of the device,the finite element analysis model of the device is established by the finite element analysis software ABAQUS,the strength analysis of the device under the normal/emergency working conditions in the lifting process is made,and the contact stress,bending stress of the lifting device and its components.The conclusions obtained from the calculation and analysis have certain guiding significance for the design,manufacture and management of the platform lifting device.

Abstract:Offshore platforms deal with challenges brought by the marine environment, providing workplaces for oil production, wind energy, and marine research. Offshore platforms play important roles in the ocean development. Although there are still challenges such as stability, control, and sensing technology, offshore platforms hold the potential to further improve their performance and application value with the continuous progress in technology. This paper presents a summary of the present research status within the domain of offshore platform studies, introducing different types of offshore platforms from the perspectives of their applications and basic structures. In terms of technology, this paper presents the technical aspects and architectural framework of offshore platforms. Additionally, the applications of offshore platforms are discussed. Comprehensive analysis indicates that offshore platforms exhibit strong adaptability and stability in marine environments. With the advancement of technologies, the reliability and performance of offshore platform are expected to improve in practical scenarios. This paper may offer a reference for the research of offshore platforms.

Abstract:To develop lightweight high-strength concrete (LWHSC) for offshore structures in a harsh seawater environment, LWHSC with shale and clay ceramsites was designed. LWHSC was experimentally investigated in terms of density, compressive strength, and durability in a coastal environment. Then, its feasibility for offshore structures was also assessed. The results show that the compressive strength and oven dry density of LWHSC appropriately improve with increases in cement content, while they are reduced by the replacement of shale ceramsite with clay ceramsite. The compressive strength of LWHSC also increases first and then decreases with an increase in the pre-wetting of shale and clay ceramsites. Their optional pre-wetting time is about 0.5 h. LWHSC exhibits a higher brittleness compared with conventional concrete. LWHSC has increases in the resistances of freeze–thaw, carbonization, water penetration, and chloride penetration when the shale and clay ceramsite light aggregates decrease in the concrete. The LWHSC prepared in this paper is suitable for the harsh seawater environment of offshore oil platforms but is limited to the southern region where there is no requirement for the freeze–thaw resistance of concrete. The results of this study can provide some reference for the application of LWHSC in offshore structures and other similar aspects of engineering.

Abstract:The deep-sea ground contains a huge amount of energy and mineral resources,for example,oil,gas,and minerals.Various infrastructures such as floating structures,seabed structures,and foundations have been developed to exploit these resources.The seabed structures and foundations can be mainly classified into three types:subsea production structures,offshore pipelines,and anchors.This study reviewed the development,installation,and operation of these infrastructures,including their structures,design,installation,marine environ-ment loads,and applications.On this basis,the research gaps and further research directions were explored through this literature review.First,different floating structures were briefly analyzed and reviewed to introduce the design require-ments of the seabed structures and foundations.Second,the subsea production structures,including subsea manifolds and their foundations,were reviewed and discussed.Third,the basic characteristics and design methods of deep-sea pipelines,including subsea pipelines and risers,were analyzed and reviewed.Finally,the installation and bearing capacity of deep-sea subsea anchors and seabed trench influence on the anchor were reviewed.Through the review,it was found that marine environment conditions are the key inputs for any offshore structure design.The fabrication,installation,and operation of infrastructures should carefully consider the marine loads and geological conditions.Different structures have their own mechanical problems.The fatigue and stability of pipelines mainly depend on the soil-structure interaction.Anchor selection should consider soil types and possible trench formation.These focuses and research gaps can provide a helpful guide on further research,installation,and operation of deep-sea structures and foundations.

Abstract:Local scour around the offshore converter platform caused by current and wave will lead to the instability of foundation. A series of experiments are performed to investigate the scour devel-opment and scour protection of the offshore converter platform. The development and evolution characteristics of the local scour around the gravity based structure foundation under the actions of current flow and wave are analyzed. The results show that the edge scour mainly occurs at the lateral sides of the platform and the scour pits are symmetrical about the centerline of the plat-form in the streamwise flow direction. The scour depth around the gravity based structure in-creases with the increase of flow velocity. The inclination and collapse of the platform is observed at alpha = 90 degrees and U0 = 0.25 m/s. The sand ripples are observed around the gravity based structure under the wave action, and the scour depth increases with the increase of wave height and wave period. Based on the comparisons of different scour protection methods, the combined bionic grass-geotextile-riprap protection has the best scour protection efficiency for the offshore con-verter platform.
Long Pile Upending Lifting Study for Fixed Platform on Offshore Oil and Gas Field

Abstract:Fixed platform have been widely employed in the offshore oil and gas reservoirs development. Pile foundation reliability is critical for these platforms where drilling, production and other functions are integrated. The lifting operation for the long pile, being a key step in the jacket installation, has been considered for further developments. With deep water developments, the sizes and weights of long piles are reasonably bigger. The corresponding process and equipment employed are subsequently altered, which brings challenges to developing a cost-effective, easy-operable approach for lifting operation. In this paper, the technology for the offshore long pile upending lifting operation including pile feature, installation methodology, lifting rigging and analysis model, covering water depths ranging from shallow to near deep water zone (60-300 m water depth) has been suggested. In addition, the applicability of the adoptable novel approaches has been discussed considering the practical project experience.

Abstract:Offshore oil and gas development plays an important part in the global energy sector. Offshore platforms and flexible pipes are the key equipments in the whole offshore oil and gas development system. Because of the randomness and uncertainty of wave and current loads in the ocean environment, the structural design and mechanical analysis of the marine equipment can be highly complicated. Therefore, this paper reviews the recent works of the theoretical model, numerical simulation, and experimental test in three research areas: hydrodynamic analysis of offshore platforms, structural mechanics analysis of flexible pipe and cable, and monitoring technology of offshore floating structures under marine loads. By analyzing their main research methods and key technical difficulties, this paper provides theoretical basis and technical support for the reliability engineering application of offshore platforms and flexible pipelines. Also, China is relatively backward in the design of marine floating platform, the design, analysis and testing of flexible pipeline and cable, as well as the marine equipment prototype monitoring technology research. Calling for breakthroughs at the earliest possible stage in the above fields, prime research should be focused on and strategic planning should be made to deal with "key areas and stranglehold problems". It is of great significance for the development of China's deep-sea energy and resource development of independent technology and on time to achieve the "carbon peak" national strategic objectives.

Abstract:Abstract With the drastic reduction of China's land and shallow sea oil and natural gas resources, offshore oil and gas field exploration has gradually developed into the deep sea of 1500-300 m. Traditional steel materials are no longer applicable, and fibre composite materials have become the most exploited in subsea oilfields. One of the good materials is widely used in all aspects of deep-sea oil field equipment, providing a reliable guarantee for the development of deep-sea oil and gas fields. Based on this research background, the paper discusses the characteristics of carbon fibre composite materials (light weight, high specific strength, high specific modulus, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, and small thermal expansion coefficient), and discusses its application in the field of subsea oilfields.
On Heavy Anti-corrosion Coating Technology of Offshore Drilling Platform

A new approach for dynamic reliability analysis of offshore platforms

Abstract:The theoretical framework of a new dynamic reliability analysis approach for offshore jacket platforms is constructed in this paper. In this approach, the structural dynamic reliability analysis integrates the structural dynamic response theory with the random sampling technique on stochastic variables of the platform. Offshore jacket platform is assumed as a shear type one and is controlled by its horizontal resistance bearing capacity. The failure criterion of offshore platform dynamic reliability includes two aspects: strength failure criterion and deformation failure criterion. The strength failure criterion is based on the double-damage criterion of ultimate dynamic analysis, while the deformation failure criterion depends on the requirement of the offshore oil production. The dynamic reliability formula of offshore platforms is gained on the basis of the first crossing theory. In this paper, uncertainties of offshore jacket platform dynamic reliability subjected to wave hydrodynamic and seismic action are studied respectively. The probabilistic distributions and its statistical characteristics of wave hydrodynamic and seismic action are given on the base of limit bearing state of the platform. The dynamic reliability analysis of an offshore platform W11-4C, located at the gulf of Weizhou, South China Sea, is carried out. Some valuable conclusions are summarized.

Abstract:This study aimed to the problem of durability and hydration of high performance concrete .In this paper , axial compression , electric flux , and thermal of concrete were tested , and high performance concrete which incorporated inhibitor and mineral admixture with different gradation were studied .The results showed that: With optimization design , 28 d strength of concrete specimens has increased by incorporation of mineral admixtures and migrating inhibitor , and the electrochemical property of the steel bar were with the further promoted .Meanwhile , Resistance to chloride ion penetration of concrete is 39％lower than reference concrete and hydration heat of cementious material decreased by 37％than reference sample .While increasing incorporation of fly ash and mineral powder , performance of resistance to chloride ions and strength of concrete improved , and peak of hydration heat was also reduced .When mineral admixture content reached 22％, it is possible to achieve the best performance of concrete .The electric flux dropped significantly while mineral admixtures and migrating corrosion inhibitor were incorporated , and mineral admixtures and inhibitor have synergistic effect on durability of concrete and control of hydration heat .

Abstract:The floating platform with taut or semi-taut mooring systems is the main option for oil and gas exploitations in deep sea. However, it has been reported that the reciprocating motion of the mooring line tends to induce the seabed trench near the anchor, which consequently reduces the anchor capacity. In this paper, two parts of work have been carried out to enhance the understanding of the seabed trench. Firstly, the dimensions of reported trenches in the field as well as their formation conditions are summarized, and four feature points are proposed to describe the trench profile. Secondly, a numerical method considering mooring line dynamics to predict the final trench profiles is proposed, which contains two simulation modules, i.e. mooring line dynamics and seabed trenching. The method is verified using the data from the field and centrifuge tests. The influences of the mooring line tension and soil strength on trench profiles are comprehensively investigated further. The results show that obvious trenches are likely to form when the amplitude of mooring line tension variation is large and the soil shear strength is low. The main impact of the formed trenches is that the loading direction at the pad-eye tends to be horizontal.

Abstract:Abstract The close packing theory is used to optimize the cementitious material system of ordinary underwater anti-washout concrete, and the performance of the prepared concrete is verified through experiments. The test results show that the tightly packed underwater anti-washout concrete with C40 mix ratio is cured under the condition of seawater curing., 7d compressive strength of 31.4MPa, 28d compressive strength of 55.3MPa, 56d compressive strength of 68.7MPa, electric flux of 860C, meeting the requirements of marine engineering concrete’s mechanical properties and resistance to harmful ion erosion.
Lowering and Raising Stability of Bucket Foundation Platform

Abstract:The bucket foundation platform is a new-style platform used in offshore oil exploitation. The stability is one of the most important issues for the platform. Lowering and raising stability is analyzed theoretically. Furthermore, the results of model test and simulation are provided. Experiments and analysis results show that lowering and raising stability mainly rests with the platform underwater depth, structural characteristics, water entry angle, etc., and has scarcely any connection with the platform angles, to certain extent. As underwater depth increases, metacenter height increases, but water entry angle decreases, so the platforms allowable swing angles also decrease. In view of the above, the lowering and raising stability of the bucket foundation platform should be evaluated synthetically.

Abstract:Ice loading is the main controlling design load for offshore platforms in Bohai Bay. The ice-induced vibration of offshore platform can be monitored every winter. Both the freezing and drifting sea ice can damage an offshore platform causing structural damage, discomfort for workers, gas leakage and other problems. Two platform designs were studied aiming to reduce ice-induced vibration. One design is the offshore platform with concrete filled double-skin legs (JOP-CFDSL). The other design is the self-centering offshore platform with concrete filled double-skin legs (SRJOP-CFDSL). Both platforms were tested in laboratory experiments, and the data were used to prepare numerical simulations. The results showed that the ice-induced vibration of the two novel jacket platforms are all reduced under push loads, and the SRJOP-CFDSL have better control effect. The replacement of jacket offshore platform's steel circle hollow section legs with concrete filled double-skin legs can effectively improve the structural stiffness. And prestressed tendons were found to improve the platform's performance even further, helping it to reset after lateral impact. It should be noted that the prestressed tendon as an important bearing member, must do some anti-icing protection. Thus, the influence of ice force on the prestressed tendon isn't considered in this paper.

Abstract:In the Marine environment, the invasion of various harmful ions (e.g., Na + , and Cl − ) into the concrete can lose and deteriorate the interfacial transition zone (ITZ) which is the weakest area in concrete. The degradation of ITZ results in a decline in the mechanical performance and durability of concrete, making it crucial to study how to improve the stability of the interface transition zone. In this paper, a systematic review of the modification mechanisms of five different types of zero-dimensional nanoparticles in the ITZ was investigated, focusing on mechanical properties and durability. The evolution and deterioration of the ITZ in concrete in the Marine environment were studied, and also the modification mechanism of nanomaterials on this deterioration. The results indicate that the addition of nanoparticles to enhance the microstructure of ITZ can effectively improve the performance of the interface transition zone. This is primarily achieved through mechanisms such as filling effect, nucleation effect, and hydration promotion. These findings lay the foundation for future exploration of cement-based materials in marine environments.
