Abstract:With the contraction of the global economy and the multiple impacts of the epidemic on the world economy, Chinese enterprises are facing a changing international environment and adapting to a different kind of globalization. China insists on the strategy of both "Bringing in" and "Going abroad", and seeks the road of Internationalization through high-level two-way investment and efficient use of global resources and market space. On the topic of Internationalization of Chinese enterprises, many scholars have conducted many fruitful researches and accumulated many research results. This paper searches and collates relevant literature at national and abroad, and constructs a theoretical model of Chinese enterprises' internationalization , that includes three dimensions: influencing factors, entry modes and influencing effects. By reading the relevant literature in these three areas, we find some results, firstly the process of internationalization of firms is influenced by both internal and external factors; internal factors include the diversity of the executive team and the need for firms to innovate, and external factors include government subsidies, the active promotion of global production networks, the passive promotion of industry-specific needs and the need to expand markets. The second internationalization path includes the export access model, the contract access model, and the investment access model. Thirdly the impact effects of firm internationalization include the level of business growth, the level of research and development innovation and the level of dynamic capacity building.

Abstract:Prior studies have paid attention to the influence of domestic experience on internationalization, for which domestic experience primarily refers to the accumulation of internationalization knowledge from industrial peers or partners at home. We argue that the commonalities and differences between international experience and domestic cross-regional experience have not been fully incorporated in previous frameworks in the literature. Thus, in untangling the commonalities, we purposively differentiate domestic experience into two dimensions, i.e., repetitionbased experience and diversity-based experience, to investigate the contingent role of making domestic cross-regional investments in shaping the relationship between international experience and the speed of internationalization. We expect that these two dimensions of domestic experience will moderate the relationship between international experience and the speed of internationalization in a different way. More specifically, repetition-based experience has a negative moderating effect while diversity-based experience has a positive moderating effect. Further, considering the differences between international investments and domestic investments, we expect that the joint impacts of international experience and domestic cross-regional experience on internationalization speed are contingent on whether firms have sufficient resources to support multiple learning or whether institutions between the home country and foreign country is similar enough for cross-context application. We expect that financial slack and institutional distance between prior foreign entries' country and the home country play significant three-way moderating roles in setting boundaries for the relationship between domestic experience and international experience. Based on the analysis of 302 Chinese publicly listed firms from 2001 to 2014, the dynamic panel data regression results support our hypotheses. Overall, our simultaneous consideration of commonalities and differences between domestic investments and international investments sheds light on how MNCs learn from both international and domestic investments to speed up their foreign expansions.

Abstract:This article is a brief inquiry into the meaning and function of the concept of globalization within the social sciences during the last decade. Describing the ontological presuppositions and historical trajectory of the concept of globalization, this article distinguishes three distinct senses of the idea - transference, transformation and transcendence - and argues that these senses have emerged gradually within discourses on globalization. The article tries to demonstrate how the unfolding of these connotations has destabilized the ontological foundations of international theory by constituting `the global' as a new object of thought and action, hence releasing political imagination from the limits posed by its largely statist past.

Abstract:The article systematizes the conceptual-categorical apparatus of the international economy in terms of clarifying the definition of “international economic activity” based on the study of the works of domestic scientists. It has been proven that in the context of national interests, international economic activity should be aimed at ensuring the country's economic security, an innovative model of economic development, strengthening its scientific and technical potential, and developing equal and mutually beneficial relations with other countries of the world. The study of the views of domestic scientists made it possible to establish the relationship between the terms “international microeconomics”, “international macroeconomics” and “international economic activity”. It was established that domestic scientists interpret the concept of “international economic activity” in different ways. A critical analysis of the researched interpretations of the concept of “international economic activity” made it possible to single out the scope of application of this concept and the subject component. A refined definition of “international economic activity” is given. The advantage of the specified term is the determination of the direction of the actions of the subjects (formation, development and implementation of the advantages of international cooperation, international specialization and cooperation), the specification of the purpose of these actions taking into account the realities of today (ensuring the international competitiveness of countries, increasing their economic potential). The authors have systematized the existing interpretations of the term "foreign economic activity" in regulatory and legal acts and scientific literature. The common and distinctive features of the concepts of "foreign economic activity" and "international economic activity" have been determined. It was established that the second concept is a broader concept, because it includes a greater number of forms of economic interaction of subjects in the system of global economic relations and has goals that are more global.

Abstract:This chapter traces the question of globalization and reviews the efforts from geographers to understand the spatiality of economic globalization. Specific efforts have been made to review four research areas, including transnational corporations, cross-border flows, consequence of global-local interactions and local response to economic globalization. This chapter also highlights the contributions of Chinese scholars in globalization studies. As the speed-up of China's integration into the globalization process, Chinese scholars are capable of offering more insights into cross-border economic activities, regional integration and global governance. Roadmap for future research is therefore depicted to embrace this trend.

Abstract:It is a new angle of view to study the problem elements in international cooperation. Two aspects of the studies are prevalent. One is to build models based on game theory, and the other is to differentiate the degrees of difficulty according to problems' properties. These two methods have both merits and demerits, and both are much on national interests and national preferences and to attach importance to non-state actors, for international cooperation and settlements of problems.

Abstract:<p class="a-plus-plus">We explore how "international organizations" have been conceptualized and operationalized in the field of International Relations (IR), identify an important gap between the two, and demonstrate how this shapes our understanding of world politics. Traditionally, we show, IR has embraced a broad conception of international organizations (IOs) that appreciates variation in design. However, the literature has largely coalesced around a measurement standard that reflects the characteristics of major postwar IOs. Prevailing measures, therefore, mainly count formal IOs—bodies founded with legally binding agreements—and omit informal IOs, which are founded with non-binding instruments. We argue that this produces a disconnect between theory and empirical evidence used in the field, since scholars frequently make arguments about IOs in general but draw inferences from formal IOs only. After reviewing how this disconnect has emerged, we use an original dataset on state membership in 260 informal IOs to reanalyze a number of important studies, showing heterogeneous effects for subtypes of IOs that conflict with existing theories to varying degrees. These differences imply that formal and informal IOs have different effects and that existing findings in the field are partly artifacts of the specific way IO variables have been operationalized by scholars. Based on this, we offer recommendations for how to improve research practices moving forward.</p>

Abstract:The paper reviews some theoretical issues in integration studies abroad. After the recapitulation of the three development stages of integration studies, which are resource organization-oriented integration, heterogeneous data sources-oriented integration and application-oriented integration, the paper summarizes the different viewpoints about forms and levels of integration, including dichotomies, trichotomies and quartation of integration. In addition to the brief introduction of approaches to integration: GAV,LAV,GLAV, BAV, and P2P, the paper discusses a generalized architecture for integration.

Abstract:Globalization is a world-class phenomenon, and it is the cross-border and cultural spread of factors such as the production of products, the application of technology, the dissemination of information, and jobs among different countries. Globalization is a widespread phenomenon that includes economic, political, social, cultural and legal factors. From the economic point of view, globalization explains the free trade in which different countries are interdependent through various forms. From the political point of view, the evolution of globalization is developing towards the structure of intergovernmental organizations, such as the WTO and the United Nations. From the social and cultural point of view, globalization makes the interaction and cultural exchange among ethnic groups closer. Globalization also represents the exchange and collision of cultural concepts, thoughts and artistic expressions among different regions. In addition, there is a general trend of globalization towards a single world culture. From the perspective of law, globalization has adjusted the construction and implementation of international law. In the author's opinion, globalization is not a new concept in recent decades. In ancient human society a long time ago, there were merchants who traveled long distances to another country and region, taking their hometown specialties for sale, or bringing overseas specialty products back to their hometown for sale. With the development of industrial revolution, it created a great leap in the development of transportation and communication means for human society in the 19th century, and also greatly reduced the difficulty of cross-border trade. Through a brief analysis of the historical evolution of economic globalization, political globalization and social and cultural globalization, this paper shows that globalization is the result of historical development in recent centuries, rather than a fresh product in recent decades.

Integration of Trade and Disintegration of Production: An Empirical Study Based on Two Important Hypotheses of Economic Globalization

Abstract:China has maintained a high level of growth in the integration of trade since the reform and opening up policy in the 1980s. This may be explained partly but not fully by the gravity model. Based on statistical tests of world trade and structural analysis on Eastern Asian economic entities including China, we find that higher similarity and a larger amount of trade among economic entities result in more integrated trade. When the export competitiveness of an economic entity grows because of various factors, the level of disintegration of production rises. The results of the Granger Causality Test show that disintegration of production and specialization of exports contribute to integration of trade. Both integration of trade and disintegration of production are determined by the capitalization index.

Abstract:The studies of international economic law in China has been located on the level of the developing country ever since its beginning. This complied with the national condition at that time and was indeed successful. But in the new era that witnesses the great changes of the studies of international economic law in China and its international conditions, it is necessary to revalue it. This paper gives an analysis of China's national conditions and the changes of international economic relations, and on this basis, it probes into some problems about the orientation of international economic law in our country, and discusses if and how it should depart from that of the developing country. It suggests that international economic law should advance with the times, furnish the tank of theories and guard the international economic rights of China.

Abstract:China's rapid integration into the global economy has had undeniable implications for the Chinese state - it raises questions about how the state has simultaneously encouraged globalization and, at the same time, tried to control for globalization's impact on China's economy, its culture, and on state policy and the state itself. These implications have not been lost on PRC-based scholars of international and comparative political economy, who have focused considerable - if, as we shall argue, incomplete - attention on globalization's challenge to state sovereignty, to economic sovereignty, and on the economic role of the state. The article highlights features of the Chinese scholarship that are quite distinctive. This literature reflexively favours a strong role for the state in the context of globalization. We also observe that the literature in general is not oriented to theory-building. Instead, scholarship is largely policy-driven; there is a strong impulse to provide positive policy advice to Chinese policy-makers. Most striking, the understanding of the state in the Chinese literature remains partial; there is a marked reluctance to delve into either empirical or theoretical study of the Chinese state itself - the state itself as a subject of critical analysis is rarely considered.

Abstract:Foreignness has long been a central construct in international business research, with research streams examining its conceptualizations, manifestations, and consequences. Researchers started by taking foreignness to be a liability, then later considered the possibility of its being an asset. A still more recent view is that foreignness is an organizational identity that a firm can purposefully manage. Broadly conceived, foreignness is an umbrella construct that directly or tangentially covers research on country of origin, institutional distance, firm-specific advantages, and the ownership–location–internalization eclectic paradigm. We review the body of research on foreignness and track the evolution of its four streams, liability of foreignness, asset of foreignness, drivers of foreignness, and firm responses to foreignness. We call for a clearer conceptualization and a sounder theoretical grounding of the foreignness construct, more integration of the liability of foreignness and the asset of foreignness research streams, greater attention to the multiple strategies firms use to manage foreignness, and the extension of the field to less-explored contexts such as emerging economies, digitalization, and de-globalization.
The Internationalization of Chinese Literary and Cultural Theory and Theoretic Construction in a "Post-theoretic Era"

Abstract:Literary and cultural theory has entered a "Post-theoretic Era" ,which is different from the previous "golden age". It has the following characteristics:literary theory in its traditional sense has evolved into a more inclusive cultural theory,or just theory; cultural theory can no longer solve all the social problems as it used to; the "Eurocentric" mode of thinking has been deconstructed along with the rise of American hegemony; "West-centrism" is also severely challenged; contemporary cultural theory has no dominant force with different schools and cultural trends moving in different orientations. At this critical moment,the postmodern Neo-Confucianism,which has been reinterpreted and reconstructed,may well become one of the important theoretic resources based on which Chinese academia could carry on equal dialogue with its international peer. As the world is more concerned about China,China's literary and cultural theorists should also think about how to step out of the country so as to utter their voices at the international forum. This is one of the most important revelations China's theorists could get from the "Post-theoretic Era" ,which is also expected by international scholarship of Chinese theorists.
