Abstract:Two series of N-containing heterocycles were synthesized by one-step intramolecular or intermolecular annulations of N-substituted pyrrole-2-carbaldehydes and pyrrole-2-carbonitriles. These facile and atom-economic synthetic routes involved the inherent three potential electrophilic and nucleophilic reactive sites of the synthons and the reaction solvent plays a crucial role leading to these different types of products. Additionally, plausible mechanisms are proposed.

Abstract:[60]Fullerene reacts with imines prepared from substituted benzaldehydes and a - amino acid ester to give isomers of fullerene - fused proline derivatives via 1,3- dipolar cycloaddition. The products were characterized by FT- IR,UV- vis, 1H NMR,13C NMR and TOF- SIMS spectroscopic techniques. The bioactivities of the products were also tested.

Abstract:An efficient route to synthesize 4-chloro-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine (6) and 2,4-dichloro-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine (10) starting from diethyl malonate in five steps with the total yields of 45.8% and 44.8% was disclosed in the presented paper. The chemical structures of the objective products as well as the related intermediates were confirmed.

Abstract:The first intramolecular (4+3) cycloaddition of pyrroles with epoxy enolsilanes as the electrophiles was developed and used to generate optically-enriched cycloadducts containing the nortropane substructure in good yields. Using this pyrrole cycloaddition as the key step, we achieved the asymmetric synthesis of a nortropane compound bearing the BCDEF ring structure common to the ClassII galbulimima alkaloids.

Abstract:A flexible method for the synthesis of 5,6-disubstituted furo[2,3-d]pyrimidine derivatives is described. The key step is a palladium-catalyzed arylative cyclization of alkynylpyrimidinols with various aryl iodides, which gave the title compounds in 36–75% yield.

Abstract:This article is part of the collection Crystallography in Latin America: a vibrant community . Three 2,4-diarylpyrroles were synthesized starting from 4-nitrobutanones and the crystal structures of two derivatives were analysed. These are 4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-(thiophen-2-yl)-1 H -pyrrole, C 15 H 13 NOS, and 3-(4-bromophenyl)-2-nitroso-5-phenyl-1 H -pyrrole, C 16 H 11 BrN 2 O. Although pyrroles without substituents at the α -position with respect to the N atom are very air sensitive and tend to polymerize, we succeeded in growing an adequate crystal for X-ray diffraction analysis. Further derivatization using sodium nitrite afforded a nitrosyl pyrrole derivative, which crystallized in the triclinic space group P with Z = 6. Thus, herein we report the first crystal structure of a nitrosyl pyrrole. Interestingly, the co-operative hydrogen bonds in this NO-substituted pyrrole lead to a trimeric structure with bifurcated halogen bonds at the ends, forming a two-dimensional (2D) layer with interstitial voids having a radius of 5 Å, similar to some reported macrocyclic porphyrins.

Abstract:Dedicated to Professor Hiriyakkanavar Ila in great admiration of her creative contributions to heterocyclic chemistry With the motivation to expand the compound library of specifically substituted pyrimidine derivatives, we prepared several pyrimidine-4-carbaldehydes. In most cases, the chemoselective oxidation of 4-hydroxymethyl-substituted pyrimidine derivatives could be achieved in good yields to provide the desired compounds. Alternatively, the aldehydes were prepared by Riley oxidation with selenium dioxide from the corresponding 4-methylpyrimidines. The formyl group of these compounds was employed as handle to generate alkynyl, cyano, oxazol-5-yl or β-ketoester substituents. Furthermore, two methods were found to prepare furo[3,2- d ]pyrimidines. A serendipitously discovered reaction to a 6-(pyrimidin-4-yl)furo[3,2- d ]pyrimidin-7-ol derivative involves a mechanistically interestingly 'dimerization' process with a benzoin addition as key step. Other compounds in this series contain amino, azido, or 1,2,3-triazol-1-yl groups. All these transformations to highly substituted pyrimidine derivatives demonstrate the synthetic versatility of pyrimidine-4-carbaldehydes and similar compounds. Abstract:Development of facile synthetic methods for various disubstituted pyrroles from pyrrolidine and 2-substituted 1pyrrolines is reviewed based on our recent findings. Various 1,3-disubstituted pyrroles were synthesized by reaction of pyrrolidine and aldehyde heating without any catalyst. On the other hand, 2,3-disubstituted pyrroles were synthesized from 2-substituted 1-pyrrolines by a sequece involving its aldol-type condensation with aldehyde and subsequent base-catalyzed double-bond isomerization. Application of the former method to one-pot synthesis of a pyrrolocyclophane and preparation of N-substituted indoles from indoline and aldehydes is disclosed. Some pyrrole products by the latter method were transformed into dipyrrin derivatives via their pyrrole-2-carbaldehydes, and chemical and structural properties of the dipyrrin derivatives are described.

Abstract:A new 1H-pyrazole compound:3(5)-(4-(benzyloxy)phenyl)-5(3)-(furan-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole(3) was synthesized from β-diketone and hydrazine hydrate.The composition and structure of the new compound were characterized by means of elemental analysis,IR,1HNMR and ESI-MS.A strong peak of dimeric ions + was observed in the ESI-MS spectra attributed to the formation of dimers by intermolecular N—H…N hydrogen bonds.

Abstract:An efficient and regioselective synthesis of highly substituted 2-trifluoromethyl pyrrole derivatives via silver-catalyzed cyclization of vinyl azides with ethyl 4,4,4-trifluoro-3-oxobutanoate is reported. Various α-(heteo)aryl, alkyl, β-aryl, as well as α,β-disubstituted vinyl azides, participate in this transformation. Abstract:The main objective of this work is the synthesis of polycyclic molecules of benzo[4,5]imidazo[1,2- a ]pyrimidine hybrids by condensation of 2-aminobenzimidazole with the precursor 4-hydroxy-6-methylpyran-2-one utilizing various alcoholic solvents. Structural characterization of the synthesized compounds was conducted using diverse spectroscopic methods (NMR, MS, IR, and CHN). The formation of the obtained structures is explained by a detailed reaction mechanism.

Abstract:This paper uses basic-catalysed method to convert 1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamides into tri-fused heterocyclic systems containing two kinds of pyrazolotriazolopyrimidine framework. The synthesis of compounds 5-6 and reactions of them with some electrophiles have been investigated. Preliminary bioassay study showed that some compounds displayed high activity.

Abstract:Two synthetic methods for tetra- and trisubstituted N-H pyrroles are presented: (i) the thermal pyrrole formation by the reaction of vinyl azides with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds via the 1,2-addition of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds to 2H-azirine intermediates generated in situ from vinyl azides; (ii) the Cu(II)-catalyzed synthesis of pyrroles from alpha-ethoxycarbonyl vinyl azides and ethyl acetoacetate through the 1,4-addition reaction of the acetoacetate to the vinyl azides. By applying these two methods, regioisomeric pyrroles can be prepared selectively starting from the same vinyl azides.

Abstract:Styryl thienyl ketone and Styryl furyl ketone 2a, b reacted with thiocyanoacetamide(1) to give the dihydropyridinethiones 3a, b which used as starting material for the synthesis of several heterocyclic compounds. Reaction with several halogeno-esters, halogeno-ketones and chloroacetamide gave 2-S-alkoyl pyridines 5a-d, 10a-d, 13a, b and 19a, b thieno[2,3-c] pyridines 6a, b, 11a, b 14a, b and 20a-d, pyrido[2′,3′,4:5]thieno[2,3-c]pyndazines 8a, b and pyrido[2′.3′:-4,5]thieno[2,3-d]pyrimidinones 15a, b 16a, b and 17a, b. Structures were established based on elemental analyses and spectral data studies.

Abstract:Herein, an atom-economic method for the synthesis of fused-ring pyrrolizine derivatives by a cycloaddition reaction of easily accessible N -substituted pyrrole-2-carboxaldehydes with N -substituted maleimides in the presence of di- tert -butyl peroxide has been successfully developed. A total of 23 compounds were obtained by using this method, with a maximum yield of 72%, providing a practical and efficient method for the synthesis of tricyclic pyrrolizine frameworks. Abstract:Fourteen new substituted pyrimidines were synthesized and their structures were confirmed by H-1 NMR, IR, MS spectra and elemental analyses. Their insecticidal, fungicidal and herbicidal activities were examined. Some of these compounds showed good fungicidal activity after introduction of dimethylamino into the 2-position of pyrimidine ring. The compound with the phenoxy substructure at the 4-position of pyrimidine ring also showed good fungicidal activity, e. g. 3b, 3c and 3e. But compounds with methyl at the 5-position on the pyrimidine ring diminished the fungicidal activity. The best substituent on phenyl ring was 2-nitro-4-trifluoromethyl.
Substituent effect on the electronic and optical properties of newly designed pyrrole derivatives using density functional theory

Abstract:Abstract This work explores six newly designed compounds obtained by several substitutions in 2,5-di(2-thienyl) pyrrole molecule. For this series of compounds, the electronic and optical properties were investigated using density functional theory and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT). The new compounds were characterized by calculating the chemical parameters that correlated with their optical and electrical properties. The lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) and the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energies are calculated using the B3LYP functional with the 6-311G (d, p) basis set. The most low-lying energy level of the LUMO was found for Perr-NO 2 , indicating its effective electron injection capabilities and oxidation resistance. The HOMO and LUMO distributions of Perr-Cl and Perr-NO 2 displayed a remarkable complementarity throughout each component of the two compounds, indicating an effective intermolecular charge transfer. The molecular electrostatic potential analysis demonstrated that the proposed compounds have a broad distribution of electrophilic and nucleophilic sites, which predict a high degree of chemical reactivity. The electron density analysis at the bonding and anti-bonding sites of the title compounds was performed using the electron localization function and local orbital locator techniques. Non-covalent interaction analysis using the reduced density gradient approach classified all types of interaction: repulsive, weak, and attractive interactions within compound fragments. All compounds exhibited a robust repulsive interaction, as proved by the red spikes at 0.038 a.u. The ultraviolet/visible (UV/vis) spectrum was obtained by TD-DFT using CAM-B3LYP models in conjunction with 6-311G (d, p) basis set and methanol as a solvent, the absorption bands were found within the UV range, and the maximum wavelength showed red-shifted increases. These compounds could serve as a base material for developing selective gas sensors with considerable UV/vis absorption (180–400 nm). According to the research results, the designed compounds are good candidates for use as precursors in polymer designs for optoelectronic and sensor applications due to their high electrical conductivity and photochemical properties.
