Abstract:The problem of stabilization for wireless networked control system (NCS) with packet dropout and time delay is studied in this article. The impulsive control law for the NCS is defined with time delay and impulse. Using a switching model, the network-induced imperfections can be treated as three switching subsystems. Therein, in the case of packet dropout, the control law use the previous state via the first-order hold. The impulsive control law is designed using the switched system approach and the average dwell time method. The obtained sufficient conditions which can guarantee the exponential stability of switched system are in the form of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, a numerical example is used to demonstrate the merits and applicabilities of the proposed method. (C) 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Abstract:This paper considers the problem of robust control for singular systems with state delay and parameter uncertainty. The time delay appears in both state and control input and is assumed to be length-bounded otherwise arbitrarily fast time-varying, while the parameter uncertainty under consideration is norm bounded and possibly time-varying. We first obtain a condition for a singular time-delay system to be regular, impulse free and stable, based on which, the problems of robust stability and robust stabilization are solved. An linear matrix inequality (LMI) design method is develop and an explicit expression for the desired stabilizing control is also given. The proposed synthesis method is illustrated by a numerical example.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the controllability of a kind of nonlinear stochastic impulsive system with infinite delay in abstract space. Sufficient conditions for the controllability are obtained via the generalization of the contraction mapping principle and with none of the compactness condition restriction on the evolution family of operators for the system. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:The advantages of both variable structure control and decentralized control have motivated us to investigate the decentralized variable structure control methods for uncertain interconnected systems. A set of global reaching conditions based on the linear transformation of sliding surface for multi-input subsystems are presented. The proposed decentralized variable structure control laws can be used to deal with the problems of large-scale systems with the unknown interconnections.

Abstract:The design of a decentralized variable structure controller for interconnected systems was investigated. Based on variable structure-control (VSC) theory and by exploiting the structure of interconnected systems, a concise approach of decentralized VSC was presented. The design of decentralized variable structure controller required the uncertainties of the systems were bounded, but the interconnected item and the uncertain interconnected item was not required to be matched. The designed controllers guaranteeing the closed-loop systems are global asymptotically stable. The design approach is simple.

Abstract:Many practical systems in physics, biology, engineering, and information science exhibit impulsive dynamical behaviors due to abrupt changes at certain instants during the dynamical processes. This note first introduces the impulsive behavior into switched linear systems and studies the controllability and observability of such systems. Necessary and sufficient criteria for reachability and controllability are established. It is proved that reachability is equivalent to controllability for such systems. Then, necessary and sufficient criteria for observability and determinability of such systems are established by duality. It is also proved that observability is equivalent to determinability. Our criteria are of geometric type, they can be transformed into algebraic form conveniently. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the utility of our criteria.

Abstract:In this paper, several different concepts of controllability are investigated for a class of linear singular systems which system parameters are piecewise constant. Necessary and sufficient geometric criteria for C-controllability and R-controllability of such systems are established, respectively. These conditions can be easily transformed into algebraic form. By applying the principle of duality, C-observability is discussed as well. Furthermore, the intrinsic relationship between these results and existing results are also discussed. Then, a novel necessary, and sufficient criterion for C-controllability of linear time-invariant singular systems is derived as a byproduct.

Abstract:Real systems are often subject to both noise perturbations and impulsive effects. In this paper, we study the stability and stabilization of systems with both noise perturbations and impulsive effects. In other words, we generalize the impulsive control theory from the deterministic case to the stochastic case. The method is based on extending the comparison method to the stochastic case. The method presented in this paper is general and easy to apply. Theoretical results on both stability in the pth mean and stability with disturbance attenuation are derived. To show the effectiveness of the basic theory, we apply it to the impulsive control and synchronization of chaotic systems with noise perturbations, and to the stability of impulsive stochastic neural networks. Several numerical examples are also presented to verify the theoretical results.

Abstract:This paper studies the synthesis and design problem of variable structure control for a linear discrete uncertain singular system with time-delays.Firstly,a new equivalent form of constrained system is developed and the system is decomposed into two low dimensional uncertain subsystems.Secondly,based on some results of the robust stability of discrete singular systems with time-delays,a switching function with difference compensator is designed,which guarantees that movement of the system is asymptotically stable in a quasi-switching manifold.Thirdly,a variable structure controller is designed,which can force the system trajectory either to arrive at the quasi-switching manifold in limited steps and ultimately slide to zero on the quasi-switching manifold or to enter into a small neighborhood of the quasi-switching manifold in limited steps and be convergent to a small chattering in the neighborhood.Finally,two numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness and practicability of the design method.

Abstract:This article investigates the controllability for a class of piecewise nonlinear impulsive non‐autonomous systems. The problem is addressed by considering the nonlinearities and impulses as perturbations. First, a standard framework is introduced to transform the issue of controllability to the existence of a fixed point by designing a proper admissible control and constructing a nonlinear operator on a Banach space. Then, two sufficient controllability conditions for such systems are developed by employing Schauder's and Rothe's fixed point theorems when the perturbations satisfy several nonlinear constraints including linear/sublinear growth conditions, bounded constraints, and Lipschitz conditions. It is shown that the controllability of such systems is influenced by the linear parts, the nonlinear perturbations, and the impulsive effects. Finally, the established controllability results are verified through several numerical examples.

Abstract:This paper studies the issues of stability analysis and stabilizing controller design for a class of discrete-time semi-Markovian switched linear singular systems. The novel sufficient criteria for such systems to be σ -error mean square admissible are proposed for the first time. By adopting the improved technology of eliminating matrix power terms for singular systems, the existence conditions are proposed for state feedback controller in terms of a group of linear matrix inequalities. An example is presented to illustrate the validity of our results.

Abstract:This paper investigates the number of switchings and design of switching sequences for controllability of switched linear systems. Two related results are established. One is a new constructive approach to designing switching sequences. The controllable state set of each switching sequence designed via the approach coincides with the controllable subspace of switched linear systems. The other is a well-estimated value for the minimum number of switchings required for controllability. Each state in the controllable subspace can be steered to origin within this value of switching times.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to investigating two structural properties for a class of fractional-order switched and impulsive systems. The structural properties, i.e., observability and controllability, are explored mainly based on an algebraic approach. More specifically, firstly, according to the Laplace transform and mathematical induction, the general solution of such hybrid fractional-order systems is obtained over every impulsive interval. Next, applying the solution derived and relevant matrix theory, several necessary and sufficient controllability and observability criteria that take the form of a row of Gramian matrices are analytically established in terms of a deterministic impulse-switching time sequence. Resorting to the property of matrix Mittag-Leffler function, the developed controllability and observability Gramian criteria are further converted to some easy-test Kalman-type rank conditions. Finally, a numerical example illustrating the theoretical controllability and observability conditions is given.
